Review: I stopped at Bonfare Market on 809 20th Street, Sacramento, to do a quick $10 pump of gas. I used my debit/credit card at the pump, and two hours realized that they had put a $50 Hold on my bank card for a $10 transaction. Not only did this seem beyond reasonable, it caused my checking account to become overdrawn,and my bank has now charged me for being overdrawn, "insufficient funds" status, and money was also automatically transferred from my savings account to cover these bank fees - which also resulted in my savings account being assessed fees for that particular transaction. I live one corner away from Bonfare so immediately upon realizing I had a $50 hold on my card from Bonfare, I returned to the establishment to question this seemingly fraudulent and shady activity. They proceeded to explain that it's posted somewhere outside on the pumps and that the transaction would clear itself within 72 HOURS. I asked them to please explain to me how it makes sense to put a $50 Hold for a $10 transaction. Is this even legal? How does this happen? The owner and manager both continued to repeat themselves about the 72 hour period. I reiterated the fact that this shady business practice had now put me in an overdrawn/negative status with my bank account and that I would have to be responsible for fees from bank. The younger of the two managers told me in a condescending manner that, "Oh, well, too bad you're so poor." WHAT? Are you kidding me? I let them know that I live in the neighborhood and that I like supporting my local businesses. They pretty much ran me out of the store, told me to get out and never come back. Obviously, I will not ever be returning and will make sure my neighbors know what kind of people run the corner market and gas station. Again, I am disgusted by their behavior and lack of customer service, not to mention that this type of activity is very questionable in legality. I looked them up on yelp and found similar stories regarding the $50 hold. I want Bonfare held accountable.Desired Settlement: I would like Bonfare investigated for their more than shady business practices. I don't want this to happen to anyone ever again. I want a written apology from the establishment for their arrogant and condescending treatment...and I want any and all fees that I have to incur in with my bank due to this situation to be paid for by Bonfare Market. In addition, and though it may be only wishful thinking, I strongly desire to see them go out of business for good. PLEASE INVESTIGATE AND FINE BONFARE.

Review: said company is engaged in "double billing" of debit cards. this has happened at least four times over 4 months.Desired Settlement: I would like the practice to be ended

Business states that there is no double billing going on. The money is held for a 72 business hour period. There is a sign posted in 4 different places informing the customer of this.
