Bonnie Ruth's Café

I just need to vent this somewhere. Bonnie R's really almost ruined Mother's Day for us. I made reservations there for 15 people a month ago for brunch today. I subsequently called 2 times to verify they had my reservations (which they always acted confused about--thus I kept verifying). We had extended family, friends, my mom's birthday and 2 generations of moms to celebrate so I wanted to make sure everything went well for everyone. We arrived to find there wasn't a table for us (even though I verified twice they had our reservations). And we found out that the $21.95 price on the website for brunch was actually $45 on Mother's Day--unbeknownst to anyone. I asked the manager (owner lady?) why this was not on the web or why I hadn't been told this the three times I talked with them for reservations. No explanation. She did offer to let us eat for the advertised price after 1/2 of our party decided to take kiddos to fast food instead, but then hovered over us and continued questioning how I had never heard of the new price after calling so many times (of which I wanna say, "exactly"). This owner lady made sure we knew we were second rate customers because we were paying less. She added that any drinks were extra, and they stuck us in the corner outside where they shoved old patio heaters (the side of their building--not even in their patio) which they called the patio, and this lady kept making us get up and moved our tables around to make room for more arriving guests while we ate. She then said we had to all be on the same ticket (our sweet waitress came behind and said she could split the tickets). Owner lady had the audacity to say that they doubled the price because they had special things on the brunch today. Since we have done their brunch before I would like to know what items were added--there was nothing different today than we have seen on any given Sunday. I don't usually complain but I couldn't help but think about all these poor families that come to take Mom to brunch thinking that it costs $22 a head (which is already ridiculous) and then arriving to be told it is double that price. What person in their right mind would (in front of their wife or mother) refuse brunch to their beloved Mama when they were shocked to find out that the price had randomly doubled with no warning? "Sorry honey, it costs too much, we . can't take you out for Mother's day." The answer is no one would--exactly. Great scheme Bonnie RAnd the food was really not that good (not even worth $22). After sharing this on NextDoor I am alarmed to see that apparently I am one of many who have gotten this bait and switch approach from this restaurant. It seems that many people don't even know about the price increase until they get their bill. This is clearly deceptive business practices and should be stopped.
