Review: First of all, the business, Bookoff came from Japan several years ago and buys/sells second hand books, electronics and other stuff they think might be valuable. I have sold a couple of times to them in the past.
Today, 02/**/2016, I brought them to sell 4 books and a video camera I purchased from Japan. Since their purchase price is very low(like $1 is most high price they set in general) I don't expect to make money from what I don't need but assume It would be nice if these satisfy other people's need.
Once I gave those at the cashier, they gave me a ticket shows number and would call the number when their assessment is done so I don't have to stay around the cashier.
My number was called after about ** minutes and the cashier, her name is CAROL, who assessed my stuff wanted to know how to close the slot of video camera and she kept pressing where it shouldn't be touched. I guess she was sort of panic and was trying to close it pressing so hard and I told her she shouldn't touch the part. Small bar in the slot was warped by her poor treatment. Warning is clearly stated on the camera in Japanese language, by the way.
After I told her to stop pressing the part, she now totally changed her excuse that she never touched the part, she pressed where supposed to be(which I explained her) but slot doesn't close. CAROL told "I pressed right but it doesn't close. it's so weird, right?" probably more than 10 times though she was making mistakes in front of me.
then she said she need to go back to work...and tried to not see me.
No other staff helped, just because they didn't want to get involved. nobody called the manager. other cashier acted as if I brought only 4 books. the other spoke to CAROL loud on purpose they don't take the type of my video camera in front of me.(then why they even assessed?) I was just one customer who stood to try to fix my video camera to close the slot. In the end, it didn't close and I brought broken video camera with me to home. Entire operation was really poor.Desired Settlement: I won't do any business with them any more. I just want Bookoff to fix my video camera which their employee, CAROL broke. If she doesn't understand Japanese language(which is no problem because we are in the United State, English is common), why doesn't she ask other employees or me for help before she ruins?
