Review: I signed up for the New Title Showcase so that my book could be part of the 2013 expo. I received the invoice and related paperwork from [redacted] sales on 4/25/2013. Mr. [redacted] followed up with a phone call the next day. On 4/28/2013, I sent Mr. [redacted] an email and told him I needed to cancel my submission to the showcase. At this time, no money had been sent in nor had I sent my submission in. I also asked that my free subscription to [redacted] be removed. This service was provided to all those who signed up for the New Title Showcase. I was rudely informed that a balance was due or I would be sent to collections. Collections? I went back to the website to review the pages where I signed up for this service. I located the terms and conditions section. There is nothing in the terms and condition section that indicates that payment is to be made in the event of cancellation. Since I cancelled more than 30 days prior to the beginning of the event, I'm not sure what the issue is. This is the first time I've dealt with Book Expo America. I cannot believe how unprofessional I've been treated. Did Mr. [redacted] inquire as to why I was cancelling? No. Did he call me to discuss another way I could participate in Book Expo America since I wasn't going to participate in the New Title Showcase? No. He's a sales person. He's too focused on his loss of sales commission or the inability to hit some sales quota. Instead of trying to make a sale in another way, I'm warned to 'make payment or I SEND YOU TO COLLECTIONS.'Poor customer service and lack of professionalism.

Desired Settlement: I would like this to be resolved as follows:I am not sent to collections at all and my balance of $299.00 is reduced to $0.00 I would like to receive something in writing indicating that the matter has been closed.
