On July 7, *** *** brought in three pieces for us to do, two were to be ceramic coated and the third item being the valve cover was to be powder coated*** chose the color for the valve cover, this was a color that we were
also running with another job so I was able to give him a discounted price since we could run them togetherWe have a setup fee of $for each color that we run but I was able to price the valve cover out at $since we were able to run multiple things together
*** had specific instructions to mask all machine surface on his valve cover as well as to plug all threaded holesThe specific instructions were noted on the work order and attached to the valve cover
On July 21, I left a message for *** that all his parts were complete and that he could pick them upThe following day, July 22, at 11:am, *** picked up all his pieces and paid the balance due of $with a credit cardOn the afternoon of July *** called the office explaining that we dented his valve cover*** told me that he noticed the dents while he was in the office but didn't say anything because he wasn't quite sure
I asked *** to email me pictures of the valve cover, in the email he included pictures of before and after we powder coated it*** then called me back, I told him I did see the difference and that he could bring the valve cover in and I would show the ownerI spoke with *** and he said that when they were sandblasting the old coating off the valve cover was very soft metal*** said that we would repair the problem the best we could with JB welds and recoat it
When I called *** and explained what was told to me by both *** and *** he denied the problem was brought on by the valve coverHe said, "I spent a lot of money on that valve cover." *** then proceeded to explain that he has gotten many parts powder coated by another company and that this has never been a problem*** told me that he wanted this fixed and I told him I would call him when it was done
On August 4, *** emailed me asking if his valve cover was finished, I told him that we just finished up with itHe asked me if I would email him a picture of the cover and I did*** came to pick the valve cover up but claimed that there was still a dent in it*** tried to explain to him that when a part is sandblasted it brings out all the imperfections in the metal; however, *** continued to claim that his piece was in perfect condition before he left it with us*** said that he wanted us to fix the spot and he wanted a refund*** said that we would need to speak to ***
*** told us that we would give *** a refund but keep the valve cover, I called *** and told him this*** came down and was very upsetHe wanted his piece and a refund, he was also threatening to report us and give us bad reviews on Yelp*** offered to give him a refund then she grabbed the cover from the back shelf to show him something*** then grabbed the cover off the counter and walked out the door saying that he will report us
