Review: I received my water 11/2. Billing dates are 7/5-9/25. $374 for water and $275 for sewer. A total of $649.00. 50,000 gallons of water. The main issue is; I didn't own the house till 7/26. In the period of 7/5 to 7/24ish, there were workers here. In order to get my mortgage, some items needed to be fixed. The house was never winterized. I came to see it in May and the water was turned on. In my inspection report, it shows pictures of a broken hot water heater and water leaking on the basement floor. (I do not have the date the hot water heater was fixed) On 7/30 is when all the appliances were installed and all engery saver. (Which I have proof of that). The new toilet was also installed on this day. Yes I have proof of that also. The Borough of Fleetwood can not give me the meter read from my settlement day. The title company ([redacted]) is the ones that called up and told the Borough when my settlement was. Both the Borough of Fleetwood and [redacted] are saying it's my bill and it is my responibility. Borough of Fleetwood said I can pay in installment with interest.Desired Settlement: I only want to pay what I used. 50,000 is out of control and someone isn't taking responibility for there screw up.

When ownership of real estate changes in the Borough of Fleetwood, the Borough requires the abstract company to advise the Borough of changes in such ownership. In this case, as you can see from the attached document, the Borough of Fleetwood was advised that title to this residence would change on July 5,2013. Based on that information, a water / sewer meter reading was conducted, a bill prepared for the seller and the owner of record changed. As of today, the title company has neither requested an updated water / sewer bill nor advised that the real estate did not change title to claimant on July 5,2013. When Claimant contacted the Borough to inform us that the water / sewer bill was incorrect, she was advised that if she should return to her abstract company to have them update the information to the Borough and take responsibility for the interim water / sewer bill in the event the closing date was changed and no updated requests made.

Based on this request, we have had our attorney pull the title itself. The actual transfer of title is July 26,2013, Based on that new information, the Borough would be happy to pro-rate the water bill. The bill sent represented usage from 7/5/13 to 9/25/13. The period of the bill was 82 days and is $649.00. The resulting time period would be reduced by 21 days or 25% to $486.75.

We would ask the Claimant remit the $486.75 to the Borough of Fleetwood and we will modify the Borough records to indicate the correct billing.
