Good morning [redacted], Thank you for taking time out of your day to gather additional facts concerning the above situation. At 10:55am on May 8th, 2018 my office was contacted via email by Mr. [redacted] about the purchase of his new vehicle trade of other...

vehicle.  While reaching out to Mr. [redacted] about this new purchase the dealer called to verify the policy information for the lienholder. As a result of the email that we received and the call from the dealership it was our understanding that it was Mr. [redacted]'s intent to add the vehicle to his current automobile insurance policy with Erie Insurance. On May 9, 2018 I spoke with Mr. [redacted] at length, he was upset that we had added the vehicle to his policy without his permission.  Mr. [redacted] was also concerned with the increase in premium caused by the new vehicle.  I explained the situation and apologized to him for any inconvenience we may have caused.  I asked him on several occasions what I could do to make this right with him and he indicated to me he did not want his rates increased and that I should guarantee that none of his policies would ever increase again.  I explained to him that is not the way insurance works and that I do not set the rates.  Rates are applied for by Erie Insurance and approved by the Pennsylvania Insurance Department.  In an additional attempt to appease Mr. [redacted] on May 10th, 2018 my office forwarded a note card to Mr. [redacted] apologizing for any inconvenience or miscommunication that we may have caused.  We also indicated to Mr. [redacted] because of his concerns, we would reevaluate our office procedures.During a conversation with the district sales manager from Erie Insurance Mr. [redacted] requested from Erie insurance actuarial department the reasons for the increase in premium.  This information was provided to him by the actuary department at Erie Insurance on May 21, 2018.  Mr. [redacted] demanded we remove the vehicle from his policy, despite owning the new vehicle which I complied with. However, because of the processes involved with Erie insurances Rate lock Endorsement, this change needed to be completed through the underwriting department which takes time to complete.  This change has since been made by the underwriting department.Should Mr. [redacted] choose to insure this vehicle with Erie Insurance, the vehicle will be added to his insurance policy effective the date of the purchased. It was never the intent of my office or Erie Insurance to inconvenience Mr. [redacted], this has been explained to Mr. [redacted] by myself, my staff, Erie Insurances District Sales Manager, and Erie Insurance’s  office of the president. Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions concerning this incident.  Dennis * B[redacted]Bort Insurance Services[redacted]

[redacted] Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. No where in my complaint do I address my rates going up. This has no factor in my complaint with the Revdex.com. Furthermore, is no business in this complain as a response.Mr. B[redacted] is simply negating and skirting the topic at hand. The sole reason for my complaint is to address the Unethical Business Practices of changing insurance policies without the consent of the policy holder.Simply put, it is illegal to change a policy without the policy holders consent. Mr. B[redacted] had no intentions of putting the insurance policy back until I threatened legal actions as our email communications show in the attached document.Mr. B[redacted], still hasn't addressed the wrong doing of changing the insurance policy.Mr. B[redacted] is right about one thing, he did ask how he could make the situation right, and I explained to him that he could put my policy back to the state it was, and he continually told me he couldn't' do that.My conversation with Hannah M[redacted], the district sales manager, again has no bearing on this complaint and how the Bort Offices change peoples insurance policies without their consent or permission. No where in my complaint do I address my rates going up.
