Buyer Beware! Horrible customer service! My account was on freeze for several months then I decided to cancel due to joining another local gym. I canceled in person but continued to get billed for 6 months. Once more I tried to cancel in person just for them to charge me $10 and tell me it takes 45 days so I'll be billed one more time. Paul Sieberd (on-site customer server manager) just said sorry and Christine Calamita (on-site general manager) said there's nothing she can do because the system will not let her. I also emailed Michael Poirier (VP Operations), with no response as of yet. Between the monthly billing and annual membership fee, I’m out $700. It’s unbelievable how any business can operate in such a manner without repercussions.

My wife, [redacted], cancelled her membership over two years ago. BSC confirms then months later new charges appear - on unauthorized accounts. My wife has contacted them (in person and by phone) on multiple occasions. Each time that assure her that they will resolve it and that "every thing is taken care of". Then, many months later, after a period of now charges, new charges appear: always on a different account. First, it was one particular credit card. After several waves of this pattern, we closed that card. Then charges appeared on another credit card. She contacted them. They said it was resolved. Now, they have begun deducting money from one of our checking accounts: again, unauthorized to do so. What does it take to cancel this membership? They have told my wife over and over that her membership is canceled and all is resolved only to resume stealing our money again and again. We do not use this gym and have not for years. They are charging us for a service not rendered for which we have not agreed. It is, in my opinion, the equivalent of theft.Desired Settlement(1) these charges must cease - IMMEDIATELY(2) we MUST BE REIMBURSED FOR THE CURRENT CHARGES PLUS OVERDRAFT FEES INCURRED DUE TO THESE UNANTICIPATED CHARGES (the account they pulled money from is rarely used and thus carries a low balance - these charges put us into overdraft). Charges follow:9/24 BSC charge: 59.9510/1 BSC charge: 68.9510/1 overdraft fee: 25.0011/1 BSC charge: 59.9511/1 overdraft fee: 25.00Business Response Our records show that your wife did cancel her membership a couple years ago. However, on January 30, 2013 she signed up for a 1 year commitment membership online. Also, we can only see the last 4 digits of a credit card on file and would have no way of getting your credit card number or bank account number unless it was provided. Final Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)I agree that no more charges should occur and the membership that we never asked for or approved should be cancelled. However, a refund is absolutely needed as well and it is fraudulent to claim that these charges were agreed to and that my wife joined online. This did not occur. BSC is notorious for these tactics and the State Attorney General should be made aware, which I intend to ensure if this matter is not fully resolved. Final Business Response I have gone ahead and cancelled the membership so that you do not receive anymore charges. However, your wife signed up online and not at the club. As I previously stated we have no way of obtaining your credit card or bank account information unless it is provided to us and I will not be issueing a refund for any of the previous charges.

Boston Sports Clubs made unauthorized charges to my credit card under the premise that I was not authorized to suspend or cancel my son's membership. This type of billing scam is not only illegal but the very foundation of the Boston Sports Club business plan.Desired SettlementAll money returned to me. I have filed a complaint with Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley's office. Her staff claims that their office is inundated with payment complaints of this type from patron's of these health club scams.

being harassed over the phone every day by representatives calling to collect payments of membership that is already canceled.I requested a cancellation of my membership by e-mail on 11/04/2013 and also sent a letter to the Westborough location. My credit card continued to be charged so on 04/01/2014 and called Town Sports; spoke with [redacted] who told me that membership was still active. [redacted], the Town [redacted]) asked me to forward the e-mail where I asked Boston Sports Club of Westborough to cancel my membership. While still on the line with [redacted] I forwarded the e-mail to her. She then apologized for the membership still being active and processed the cancellation. Few minutes after the cancellation being processed I received a "membership cancellation confirmation" notice by e-mail. [redacted] also approved (after consulting with a supervisor) my request to be reimbursed for membership charged on my American Express credit card after 11/04/2013 (when I first requested cancellation). She also informed me that [redacted] are behind on their reimbursements and it could be a couple of months before I received my reimbursements. The Town [redacted], [redacted], assured me that the company would NOT try and charge my card anymore and collection calls would not be made. Unfortunately, I continue to receive phone calls from [redacted] requesting payment almost DAILY! Upon answering the phone, I have to tell the whole story of the membership cancellation "saga" and their reply is a simple "oh, my apologies, we will update our system." However, it seems like the system never gets updated because I continue to get calls. Today (04/22/14) a Town [redacted] called regarding payment at 1:20PM. I told them the whole story. As always, the representative apologized and told me they would not be calling me again. Surprisingly enough at 2:52PM (SAME DAY) I received another call from a [redacted] as about the same issue; requesting payment. Here is a list of calls [redacted] made in the past 7 days:TODAY 04/22 they called at 1:20PM & 2:52PMSATURDAY 04/XX X:XXAMFRIDAY 04/XX X:XXPMWEDNESDAY 04/XX X:XXAMTUESDAY 04/XX X:XXPM & 1:07PMMONDAY 04/XX X:XXPMThe phone calls and the unauthorized attempts to charge my card (last charge of $128.90 was attempted on 04/15) must stop! This is pure harassment at this point.Desired Settlement*I want the phone calls to stop.* Reimbursement for membership fees charged after t 11/4/2014* Compensation for each the harassing phone call received after 04/01/2014 (membership cancellation was confirmed)Business Response I have had your named removed from our collection agencies call list so that you do not receive any more calls from them. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. I also looked into your account and our member services department has submitted a refund request for $287.80. This amount is for all the dues you were charged after your membership should have been cancelled.
