Regarding Mr [redacted] 's concern, we have a scheduled service appointment for todayThe conversation regarding a dollar repair was about regular maintenance and not warranty or extended service contract coverage.I plan on speaking to Mr [redacted] when he arrives and addressing any concernsWe are willing to due what ever it takes for his complete satisfaction[redacted]

UNIT WAS DROPPED OFF ON 04/04/AT 1:06PM WITH NO APPOINTMENT WITH A COMPLAINT/CONCERN OF "DIAGNOSE NOISE, CUSTOMER REPORTS HE WAS RIDING AND THE MACHINE CUT OFF HE THEN REALIZED IT WAS OUT OF OIL THE MACHINE STARTED KNOCKING AND SMOKING REAL BAD." THE TECHNICIAN STARTED
DIAGNOSIS ON 04/05/AT 5:06PM TECHNICIAN STATES "TOP END WORN OUT FROM LACK OF OIL, BOTTOM END MAY ALSO BE DAMAGED" SERVICE ADVISOR *** FULL CALLED CUSTOMER ON 04/05/TO DISCUSS NEEDED ENGINE REPAIRS, HE CALLED THE ONLY PHONE NUMBER GIVEN (MOBILE) AND THE VOICE MAIL HAD NOT BEEN SET UP AND A MESSAGE COULD NOT BE LEFT THE CUSTOMER CALLED BACK 04/05/AND *** TOLD THE CUSTOMER "TECH SAYS AT MINIMUM TOP END WOULD NEED TO BE REBUILT WITH PISTON CYLINDER BORE, MAYBE BOTTOM END DAMAGE MAY HAVE OCCURRED JUST TOP END REBUILD COST AROUND $1200.00, A REBUILT ENGINE WOULD COST AROUND $ CUSTOMER SAID HE WOULD CALL BACK CUSTOMER CALLED BACK 04/05/AND SAID TAKE APART THE TOP END THE TECHNICIAN STARTED DISASSEMBLY OF THE ENGINE ON 04/06/AND WORKED ON THE ATV THROUGHOUT THE DAY AND FOUND THE ENGINE "BADLY DAMAGED, FOUND OIL LEAK @ THE FRONT OUTPUT SHAFT (SEAL)" *** CALLED THE CUSTOMER ON 04/07/TO DISCUSS NEEDED REPAIRS AND THAT A COMPLETE ENGINE REBUILD FROM THE CRANK UP WOULD COST A TOTAL OF ABOUT $ CUSTOMER CALLED BACK ON 04/14/AND DECLINED ANY REPAIRS AND REQUESTED US TO REASSEMBLE THE ENGINE WITH NO NEW PARTS TECHNICIAN STARTED REASSEMBLY OF THE ENGINE ON 04/14/AT 12:AND COMPLETED REASSEMBLY ADDING QUARTS OF OIL AND GALLONS OF FUEL ON 04/14/AT 4:00PM WITH A NOTE OF "RE-AS(REASSEMBLY) ONLY - DID NOT ATTEMPT TO START ENG(ENGINE) PROBABLY WILL NOT START" *** CALLED CUSTOMER ON 04/14/AT 5:13PM TO INFORM HIM MACHINE WAS READY TO BE PICKED UP AND THE COST FOR ENGINE TEAR DOWN, DIAGNOSIS AND REASSEMBLY WAS $ CUSTOMER PAID HIS INVOICE AND PICKED UP ATV ON 04/14/AT 5:PM ENGINE STARTED AND RAN BUT SMOKED A LOT DUE TO THE INTERNAL DAMAGE FROM BEING RUN WITHOUT THE PROPER OIL LEVEL

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me. I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved

We are very sorry the customer is dissatisfied with the findings of our diagnosis performed on his machine Unfortunately when an engine is run without oil it WILL cause damage, that is why Honda recommends checking the oil level before every ride and keeping up with the maintenance per the factory schedule We would like to extend to the customer a 10% discount on the needed engine repairs as a show of goodwill Also if the customer would still like to have the oil changed, even though it will not address the internal damage, we can perform that at a 10% discount as well Thank you for your time and attention.Respectfully

I would like to apologize for your recent service not exceeding your expectations. As you can see by the scanned copy of your repair order, you requested we perform the factory service recall to replace the secondary master cylinder as well as an issue with the front brake lever feeling
"sticky" and a vibration from the rear of the bike intermittently when riding. With your complaint of the vibration you stated you found the rear brake rotor was loose to the touch. Due to you having multiple complaints with your brake system, my shop foreman could not test ride due to safety concerns and performed a preliminary inspection on the bike and found the rear brake rotor worn out and in need of replacement and the front master cylinder plunger sticking and in need of replacement/rebuilding. When I called you with the initial findings and gave you an estimate, you declined those repairs due to price. Once we completed the Honda factory recall at no cost to you, the technician then found the front left brake rotor bent and contacting the brake caliper and pads. I called you again and gave an estimate with the secondary findings and you again declined the repair due to price. We took every opportunity to give you options to repair the safety issues with your braking system and you declined all of them. I even had the technician remove the aftermarket front disc brake rotor covers at no charge to you so we could explain and show you the factory warranty repair that was performed and that there was no need for us to have any contact with the brake rotor, therefore the issue was unrelated to the repair we performed. You informed me that you recently purchased the motorcycle and did not have any knowledge of the service history. As a goodwill gesture, I would like to extend a 10% discount on the cost of the repairs needed to your motorcycle. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future

Upon receiving your motorcycle in for service I had my shop foreman perform the diagnosis for your concern of the front brake lever sticking prior to completing the factory safety campaign. During the campaign repair procedure at no time do we have to remove the front wheel or rotor. Honda is specific as to what parts are to be replaced and what repair is to be done. Unfortunately a motorcycle with over 88,miles and years old can sometimes have multiple issues that need repair as well as cosmetic damage, especially since we have not seen that motorcycle for service. With you recently purchasing the motorcycle, you may not have been aware of these problems. Unfortunately we can not be held responsible for these multiple issues that were there when you brought your motorcycle in for the campaign and diagnosis. You asked us to diagnose these issues when you called to set the service appointment, and that is what we did. Thank you.Respectfully,*** ***Service Manager

Ok on 4/4/I did call star city at about 11am and I was told if I could get in there around 1pm to bring it in and ask for ***That they would be able to get to it to do an oil changeI am not disagreeing that the phone calls took placeI was not told about the specifics to which items were damaged as stated that is not true. Again when I asked about why I was not charged for an oil change I was told that I never asked for one but I was charged for oilWhen returning Atv to residence and checked oil, oil was blackWhy would I have been charged for black oil if new oil was replacedBefore taking Atv to star city I had added a quart of oil to my HondaI did not drive Atv after receiving it back from star city and still to this minute have not driven or turned four wheeler on. After finding black oil I started wondering why and questioning what was done because around oil dipstick was a film of dirt still surrounding areaI pulled seat from top end to find complete top end still covered in a film of dirt and dust so how motor was worked on and taken completely apart without leaving any prints is pure magic. Again Atv has been covered and not driven except for someone that works at star city loading it the day I received it backIt was not worked on maybe them compiling a list of what may be necessary to rebuild a full new motor but other than that there is no doubt in my mind that they did not take motor apart as they state they did
