***DOCUMENT ATTACHED***We had scheduled asphalt sealing and re-striping for August 14th through August 19thWe began notifying residents of this on July 25th with an “email blast” to everyone whose email we have in our resident portalThen, on August 10th, we posted a map of the property with the
re-striping schedule on it on all of the carport structures around the entire propertyOn August 11th, we posted that same map, along with a notice that cars will be towed if parked in a section the day it is scheduled to be sealedOn the morning of August 16th, a lot ofcars were still parked in the section that was going to be sealed that dayMy maintenance team went around knocking on doors to figure out which cars belonged to whoAll of our carports are assigned to residents, so that made it easy to know who to callOur uncovered spots are open to residents and their guests, so we have no way to identify who a car belongs to if it is in an uncovered spotWe had to tow all of the cars that were left so that work could stay on scheduleWhen *** came into the office, he was very upset and being aggressive towards myself and my staffHe said that he did not know that he was allowed to park his car there as there were no signsI told him that the carports, which are mixed in with the uncovered spots, had signs on themI asked him what apartment he was in, wondering if he somehow didn’t get the notice we posted or any of our emailsAt that point he told me that he is a guest and that his sister lives in #I told him that I was sorry that she did not warn him about the work that was being done, but we properly notified all of our residents, so it is their responsibility to look out for their guests because we obviously do not have any of hiscontact informationNo one in the office suggested that his sister, or anyone else, pay for the towing expense. I told him that he can send me an email, as we need every complaint documented, about the situation and I could then send it up to my portfolio manager to review and see if we can compensate himHe called me the next day saying that he was going to post flyers around the property so that other people that had been towed could join him in a civil suit against usHe also notified us about the complaint that he had put in with the Revdex.comAgain, I told him to email me his complaint so I could pass it along to my portfolio managerHe called the day after that and I told him that I was still waiting on his emailI finally received it later in the day and forwarded it to my managerWe then told *** that we would reimburse him for the towing expense if he took down the negative Craigslist ads that he had posted, canceled him complaint with the Revdex.com, and if he agreed to never come back to the leasing office*** has received a check from us
