Re: Complaint ID #*** I have reviewed the complaint that was submitted and offer the following response: On April 14, 2017, the customer came into my garage and requested a State Inspection on her Chevrolet Avalanche with 214,miles. After inspecting the vehicle I informed her
that she needed a fog lamp on the left front of her truck. She stated that she had the fog lamp but it was at home. I then told her that I could do one of two things: 1. I can place a Rejection Sticker on the truck and when you get the fog lamp installed I will remove the rejection sticker and give you an approved sticker; or 2. I can remove the fog lamp on the right front of the truck and it would then pass inspectionThe customer instructed me to remove the fog lamp on the right side of the truck and approve the inspection per option #The customer then took a seat in the office next to the entrance door while I removed the fog lampI lifted the front end of the vehicle off of the ground utilizing two posts from the lift to raise the front end of the vehicle to allow me to get under the vehicleThe fog lamp was removed by unscrewing retaining bolts on the inside of the bumper bracket allowing me to remove the lamp from behind the bumper. The fog lamp was removed from the vehicle without touching the front bumper in any form or fashionThe truck was then approved for inspection per state regulations. The charge was $to remove the fog lamp and $for the state inspectionOn April 16, 2017, the customer’s husband came in to complain that I had broken his bumper when I pulled the fog lamp through the front of the bumper. I told him that was impossible as I had removed the fog lamp from behind the bumper which is the correct way to remove or replace the fog lamp. He stated that the left fog lamp was probably knocked out when they hit a dog several weeks earlier. I tried to explain to him how I removed the fog lamp but he called me a liar and demanded that I buy him a new bumper The customer's husband was irate and attempting to cause a scene in an attempt to intimidate me I again explained that I did not damage his bumper and that I would not replace it He demanded to talk to the owner. I advised him that I was the owner and he again called me a liar and left the garage appearing to remain upsetI am positive that I did not damage his bumper and will not replace itJerry Childers, Owner Radford Universal Car Care *** ** *** *** *** ** ***
