They came and changed out my conventional unit to a heat pump unitThey arrived on time, made short work of it ( a few hours) had the heat up and running cleaned up their work area and leftThe unit runs well and my light bill is less than half of what it was the previous month with the same heat settings on a programed thermostat from the Earthcents programThe workers were polite and stayed busy I cant say enough good about the whole experience

My experience with Boutwell has been the worst experience I have ever had with a contractor I work in a field where I deal with multiple contractors daily and I have never dealt with a more inexperienced company I build my home in through a builder who uses them as a contractor for the AC work The system installed was a multizone system When we first moved in at the end of the system was not working at all They visited and got the unit blowing cold air Throughout the entire year they came out many time (so many I've lost count) Each visit there was a different reason the system was not working Different zone not wired up properly, the zone board was bad, etc Our unit is in the attic and on many occasions it would shut off because the emergency drain pan would fill up with water and the float switch would shut the unit down This pan is the one under the unit not piped to the outside The pan would continue to fill up and trip the unit off in the evening after we were home, of course this is after hours for them and I was stuck in the attic emptying 7-gallons of water out of the pan so I could have cold air through the night They came out multiple times to try and troubleshoot the issue Each time the did something but it would not fix the issue After a couple days the pan would be full again I would tell them water was draining out of the unit itself and not out of the overflow/condensate line Instead of listening to me they decided to put a sump pump on the condensate drain on the unit to allow it to drain betterThis was not necessary and did not work because the condensate overflow line was not backed up After going through sump pumps, one larger than the first and jimmy rigging it in, they decided the only option was to replace the entire unit in my attic We have not had a hot enough summer yet to tell if we are going to have an issue still but the new one was installed almost the same except they elevated it a few inches During them removing the old unit(that was less than a year old) and installing the new unit my attic ladder was broken This was eventually replaced by the them through the builder but only after I made the effort to get them to have it replaced Had I not they would have let it go and not said anything about breaking something during the installation After this had gone on for a few months other problems persisted Proper zones were not wired to proper dampers We found air vents connected to duct on the wrong zones They have had to replaced a zone box and damper motors(at least I was told this by the tech when they 'found the problem') Many times I was told "its all fixed you should be good now" only to have to call them back out a few days later Many of my neighbors who were required to use them as well shared many of the technicians fixed things to work in the present without much regard to the repair lasting or not I was never able to get a filter in the return air vent to fit with out bending it leaving a portion of the vent unfiltered I looked closer and the vent was dented up This grill had to be replaced When it was replaced it appeared when the first one was installed, instead of the installer cutting the hole big enough they just forced in into the hole which ultimately bent the grill The tech had to cut more sheet rock out to get the grill to fit properly I still have one vent the paint was chipped but it has yet to be replaced as well The warranty for my home included in my contract with my builder and the builder themselves is a year warranty After the end of the first year much of the issues we were dealing with were wrapping up On one occasion on a phone call to their office about the recent issues I was informed by a secretary John [redacted] wanted me to know he was going to take care of this problem but after that he would be done with taking care of problems for 'free' This was very aggravating as I had been informed by the builder we had a year warranty Not only that but it is not my fault the job was done poorly from the beginning causing the contractor more money in time, labor, and parts than anticipated To add based on my transparent aggravation with this entire process I do not understand how this company would expect me to pay them for any other services outside of any warranty It is with my experience from dealing with this the technicians are not experienced and are only interested in getting the job done quickly but not properly Their knowledge on multizone systems are very limited Do not call them after hours and expect their answering service to do anything for you The only thing it is for is to schedule an appointment This is not a 24/companyIt is my only hope I do not have any other issues but my fear is I will continue to have problems after my two year warranty ends that I will have to pay for out of pocket

The guys did a fine job and where very neat and clean!

Since moving into our house in 03/2013, we have had many issues with the geothermal system The system runs very loud (aircraft loud), they say this is okay because the unit down the street they installed was louder Within months of moving in, there was a flood under unit causing mold to form in surrounding areas PVC piping is usedWHY?? We had issues with rooms not cooling as they should It is oversizedwe had Gulf Power come out and do a load calculation and it's actually sized ton over their recommendation of 2.9, which may explain the minute run time Gulf Power also stated that the unit did not have enough breathing room in it's current location (closet) - only about half of what it actually needs In January there was no heat I called [redacted] , and all the tech did was put freon in it Didn't check for leaks or anything else Two weeks ago (months later) we had no cool air This time we called a real geo professional and he discovered the coils froze over and there was water everywhere We were told the coils had several leaks and would need to be replaced Because of the ongoing issues with the installation and unit, we are replacing it completely and having the new one installed correctly - per manufacturers recommendations On a final note, [redacted] told me that "I was NOT his client, his client was the builder and he was done talking to me" Yes, the builder built the house, but I paid for it, and everything in it In my opinion, they have no business installing geothermals and I would NEVER recommend them His warranty does not back up his workwhich is why it's only a year On a positive note, his crew is very polite
