If you use Bowie siding& roofing expect to have many issues with workmanship.. As well as customer service... Completely incompedent!.. After a very costly roof shingle replacement the same spot that started the new roof job still leaks!..my gutter guards were removed and never replaced.. was told that is my problem because they were substandard!.. My front gutter has a sag where they had placed their latter now pours rain at the sag and was told that is my fault for not purchasing new gutters with the "new roof".. They left trash & two coffee cans full of roofing nails they faild to pick up..again if you use Bowie Siding & roofing expect to be writing a BIG CHECK ! and bad reviews!

Review: I had Bowie Siding & Roofing, Inc. install my roof and gutters. One of my gutters was installed improperly. Gutter has a nail higher in the middle of the run, which causes water to pool in one end of the gutter.I have contacted Bowie Siding & Roofing, Inc. by phone two times. The response is "I will email the installers". It has now been four weeks with still no return call or installer to repair the problem with the gutter.Desired Settlement: Refund for the improperly installed gutter or cover the cost of another contractor to fix the improperly installed gutter.

July 21, 2014Dear [redacted],I am in receipt of your notification that [redacted] of [redacted], MD has filed a complaint against our company.I do have record of the [redacted] family calling on May 9, 2014 about the the rear of the garage holding water on the non-spoutside. At that time I emailed the mechanic and requested that he contact **. and [redacted] to resolve the problem. . . Unfortunately; the mechanic forgot to call them because it is currently our busiest time of the year and he is working non-stop every day, all day. That day is the only record I have of **. or [redacted] calling since the job was completed in early 2013, I remember the job very well and felt that it was a good experience all-around. **. and [redacted] were very nice customers and we worked well together. After getting your letter today I was very upset and immediately called [redacted]. I did apologize for the delay in addressing their concerns and told her that had record of the one phone call. She told me that she called once right after the job was completed as well. Unfortunately, I do not remember that but I’m sure [redacted] would know. I care very much about my reputation and the relationship I have with myo customers. I enjoyed working with **. and [redacted] and this complaint distresses me. I set an appointment to meet the [redacted] family on this upcoming Friday morning July 25th at 8:30AM. At this time, I hope to resolve this issue and restore goodwillbetween us.Sincerely,Jocelyn T[redacted] , Bowie Siding & Roofing,

August 6, 2014Dear Ms. Freeman.Good morning, I just wanted to follow up with you about this complaint. My service mechanic met at the [redacted]' house on July 25th at 8:30 am. He determined that the gutter was properly sloped, however the house was badly out of level. Out of courtesy for the [redacted]' he adjusted the gutters to have a greater slope which satisfied them. We have no control over how a house settles, and there was nothing wrong with our workmanship. It has rained several times in the past couple of weeks and I have not heard any further complaint from the [redacted] family. I respectfully request that you remove the complaint from our record. Sincerely,Jocelyn T[redacted] , Bowie Siding & Roofing,

Review: I entered a contract with Bowie Siding & Roofing, Inc. , on June 12, 2007 to furnish labor to tear off all the old roofing on the roof and deposit all the debris in a dumpster. They were contracted to furnish and install new 30 lb. felt paper over the entire roof deck. Furnish and install color : Burnt Sienna Blend. Type: [redacted] Timberline Ultra Shadow Accent AR 50 year/Lifetime Warranty. In the contract it states that all the roof shingles will be nailed not stapled with four 1 1/4" barbed shank roofing nails per shingle. The total payment for this service that was paid to Bowie Siding & Roofing, Inc. was $5,526.57. This contract consisted of a 50 year warranty for the Timberline Ultra Shingles. As of today, these shingles are just 6 years old. The roofing company begin work on my roof on 6 July 2007 and completed the work on July 11, 2007. I was sitting on my deck and noticed that some of the shingles are rising up in 5 rows moving upward towards the top of the roof. I contacted Bowie Siding & Roofing, Inc. on July 15, 2013 about the problem that I had on the roof, but I had to leave a message for someone to contact me. On July 17, 2013, I received a call from the daughter of **. [redacted] who said that her father ([redacted]) came to the house and looked at the roof and decided that there was nothing wrong with my roof. I asked him to return to the house, my wife is at home and she will show you the problem area and discuss the matter face-to-face. I was then told that he would not return to the house. I explained to him my dissatisfaction of his arrogant attitude and unprofessionalism, where as he would come to someone resident and not knock on the door to made the resident aware that he was there to evaluate the problem which contacted his office about. The next day, I received a call from a man named [redacted] from Bowie Siding and Roofing, Inc., but not [redacted]. This gentleman said that he would come to the house and access the situation for a price of $250.00. I declined his offer, because I believe we have an active contract establishing a 50 year warranty. As I explained to the company the shingles are lifting up probably because they were not nailed down correctly. Understand we are not talking about the whole roof, but maybe about 10-12 schingles. I again expressed my concerns to this [redacted] that I have a difficulty in understanding that I have a 50 year warranty for these shingles and after 6 years of the installation, I am experiencing a problem that they refuse to correct, nor willing to honor our warranty contract. After fruitless attempts to resolve this issue with the company, I felt is only necessary to bring this issue to Revdex.com.Desired Settlement: My desired outcome is for Bowie Siding & Roofing, Inc., to honor my warranty contract that was signed on July 13, 2007 between *. [redacted], **. and myself, [redacted].

I want the roof to be repaired at no charge to me as well as an apology for his arrogance and unprofessional manner in which he addressed this issue. **. [redacted] didn't even allow me the opportunity to address other options. He made the decision and conclusion that there was nothing wrong and that settled the matter. However, after paying over $5,000.00 for a product and service that included a warranty agreement that promises a FIFTEEN YEAR WARRANTY ON WORKMANSHIP BY BOWIE SIDING AND ROOFING. With this bold declaration, I at least expected a more positive response and an acknowledgement of my concerns. If the company fails to resolve this small issue with me, then I expect Revdex.com to ensure that this complaint is noted so that other prospective clients will not fall prey to a company that refuses to honor their contracts.

RE: [redacted] Complaint # [redacted]

Dear **. [redacted],

I am in receipt of your notification that **. [redacted] the owner of the property located at [redacted] has filed a complaint against our company.

When **. [redacted] called us about his roof, the way he described it was such that he made it sound like there was felt paper showing and that shingles where sticking up in the air four feet up from the gutter. Usually that means that there is wind damage of some sort. We responded immediately by sending the owner of Bowie Siding & Roofing, Inc. to visually inspect the roof. Upon inspection, **. [redacted] did not find anything wrong with the roof. There were no missing shingles and there is no exposed felt paper. He spoke to **. [redacted] over the phone as **. [redacted] was not available to be at home during that time. He was in the hospital. We found out later that [redacted] was home but was recovering from knee surgery according to **. [redacted]. There were no cars in the driveway so we assumed no one was home and therefore did not knock on the door. However, **. [redacted] has been a professional in this industry for 42+ years and

is capable of inspecting a roof and determining its condition.

We would have been happy to accommodate **. [redacted] with a personal appointment after he came home from the hospital if he had requested that when he called.

Since that time and after I received the complaint from the Revdex.com I sent our roofing service mechanic to **. [redacted]’s home at no charge to **. [redacted] but at an expense to me. Our roofer’s inspection also revealed a beautiful, intact, sound roof. He took some pictures which I will attach to this letter.

There is one thing which may be what **. [redacted] is referring to, although he did not explain it well to any of our representatives. There is a little bit of cupping on one part just at the edge of the roof line above the gutter. When our roofer put his foot on this section, he determined that it was due to a roof rafter sticking up slightly. Roof shingles will only lay as flat as the surface below them. Often, older homes will not be perfectly straight and this home was built in 1964. Because this shingle is very thick and because it is laminated with several layers, it is more obvious.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the workmanship of the roof installed. The roof looks perfect and has no leaks according to **. [redacted].

I want to take a moment to address the warranty. **. [redacted] has a warranty with [redacted] who is the manufacturer who made the shingles. [redacted] covers any failure or defect in the shingles according to the specifications they provide on his warranty card. The; warranty card was provided to **. [redacted] on July 10, 2007. In addition to the manufacturer’s warranty, we offer a 15 year warranty on our workmanship.

Workmanship is “the degree of skill with which a product is made or a job done”. An example of bad workmanship would be installing a shingle which requires six nails with only one nail. This roof was installed flawlessly and has never leaked. As a home owner, **. [redacted] is responsible to carry the proper home owner’s insurance for any sudden and accidental damages as well as to provide regular maintenance to his home. For instance, **. [redacted] may have to provide a fresh layer of maintenance caulking where appropriate or change the stack vent flashing on his roof once every 10-15 years. These are standard maintenance items.

We completed the contract in a workmanlike manner according to standard practice. We immediately responded to **. [redacted] via phone as well as visual inspection. In addition, we sent another inspector to assess the roof and take pictures. This is the perfect example of a “positive response and an acknowledgement of [**. [redacted]’s] concerns”. I find it offensive that **. [redacted] indicates we look at prospective clients as “prey” and that he implies we do not or will not honor the warranty on which we have) built our stellar reputation in this community.

Sincerely,
