Hello, I hope all is wellWe have reached out to the customer and resolved her concerns successfully [redacted] Guest Service Manager

In reference to case number [redacted] , I reached out to [redacted] on Tuesday September 1st via email, and did not get a response back from her; she did not leave a number in her complaint to our corporate office I was able to reach her via phone once we received the letter from her complaint to the Revdex.com I reached out to her on Thursday the 3rd of September, I was able to speak with her about her concerns, she did point out the posting on Groupon that stated the $Monday Mayhem, I acknowledged that posting but informed her that was a general offering that Groupon pulled for their add, when I directed her to our Web-Site and the site that directed her to the AMF Centreville Lanes, I pointed out to her that the offering also included a $cover charge to start the program When I pointed that out she and I went back and forth a little bit as to the actual location, she did finally acknowledge the Promotion but stated that it was miss-leading with the Groupon post, I did agree with her on that and acknowledged that we partner up with Groupon, but they took it upon themselves to post this, I used an example of someone putting a add on a site like Craig’s List offering Promotions that a company is not compliant with, she understood I also proceeded to let her know the amount she spent in total, which was $107.46, was slightly less than the total she would have paid with the promotion that was offered Based on the promotion offered, it is $per person and $for each game and $for the shoe rental, her total price for the single round of games would have been $in total, because she had a total of people in her group I did apologize for any inconvenience and informed her that we are in the hospitality business and would be more than happy to send her some complimentary certificates, when I was speaking to her I asked her” I assume you intended on playing more than game when you originally came to the center but decided not based on your initial assumption of the pricing, she then said no” I then said that I would be more than happy to offer her a credit for her next time she came in and she was very accepting of that, I did say it will not be the full amount that she expected based on the actual promotion but did want to do something for her for her frustrations I have attached a copy of both the Groupon promotion and the Promotion listed on our Company web site [redacted] Bowlmor AMF Beltway District Shady Grove Road Gaithersburg, MD [redacted] (m) [redacted] *** [redacted] www.bowlmor.com

I am a league bowler at AMF Fairview Lanes, in Fairport, NY. I had the worst experience last night with the General Manger. When we arrived for our scheduled league (Saturday night Mixers) we found we were bowling on the end pair of the league (17&18). There was open bowlers right next to us on 19 & 20, which wasn't a huge deal as we had not started yet and they seemed composed and respectful of others. We were not asked if this was okay with us, as league bowlers, and we did not make a big deal out of it because they were very nice and understood lane courtesy. We bowled 1 game next to the open bowlers while they bowled 3 games and had no issues. About a half hour later the lane next to us turned on and approximately 9 children came to the lane next to us, taking over the entire settee area, spilling into our lanes as well. They were all older children, that clearly did not need bumpers, but bumpers were put up as well. When we asked the children to remain on their assigned lane they were rude and did not respond. I approached the counter, where I found an employee in a black shirt (no name tag) and another employee with a blue shirt (again no name tag). I asked to speak to the manager and the one wearing the blue shirt stated that she was the General Manager. I explained that we are league bowlers in a sanctioned league and by USBC standards we should be granted at least one lane courtesy. She then acknowledged that we should have one lane courtesy and that the "new employee" issued the lane. She then told me that the parents of the children were informed that they would need to "keep an eye" on the children (not one parent in sight of the group), they were at the bar. Once I asked the "General Manager, again no name tag" to do something about the situation and about all the children in our settee area, she came down and said she is trying to figure it out. She seemed upset with us and acted like we were the burden and in the wrong. While we were discussing the options of either dealing with the chaos or moving to the pair that had just finished bowling because they bowled the blind, one of the kids spilled a drink all over the settee area. The liquid and ice went all over both settee areas. She never offered an apology nor did she really do anything to help the situation. I was the one that suggested we move one pair to the left where teams had all ready finished. Moving 2 teams of league bowlers, all their equipment, food, drinks and families is not the easiest and was frankly a huge, unavoidable inconvenience. Her customer service was the worst I have ever dealt with in the many years I have spent in bowling centers. The "General Manager" was more concerned with socializing with the bartender and outside doing who knows what then dealing with the league problems that she had a hand in starting. I understand that people make mistakes and that things happen, but the least she could have done was apologized to the two teams effected and try to make it right. Instead, me, one of your customers, had to suggest to her what to do in this situation. I will have to think very long and hard about where my family and I will be bowling next year in the 4 leagues that we bowl in. My wife and I are very reasonable people, and have worked in the bowling industry the majority of our lives, both for AMF and independent centers and as part of the management team. That being said, we understand the situation and sympathize, but are very disappointed in our treatment and with the way the situation was handled. In the past AMF's policy has been that you can't teach customer service, but you can teach bowling... I believe in this particular case the manager clearly has no idea about either. Thank you for reading, and I hope that in the future the "General Manager" at AMF Fairview Lanes will be a bit more receptive and helpful.

Disappointed league bowler

On 8/26/15 I filed a complaint against AMF-Bowler that was assigned complaint ID# [redacted]. I was unable to review and respond to the most recent email regarding my complaint and I now found out that it has been closed. I don't understand why businesses are given 14 days to respond to my complaint and yet I was only given 8 days to respond to their response before it was closed, but I am refiling my complaint because I am not happy with the company's response and after reading the response that [redacted] submitted to the Revdex.com I felt the need to respond because he lied in his response. His behavior naturally coincides with the company's false and misleading advertising. When I spoke to Mr. [redacted] on September 3rd he was initially very rude and argumentative. He did state several times that he assumed that I would've played more than one game had they honored their coupon and I wasn't sure why he kept asking me that and I responded no that I had not planned on playing more than one game, because it was not something I even thought of. The fact of the matter is that I took all of my sons and nephews bowling which totaled twelve people. The Centreville Lanes staff were rude and would not honor the groupon and Mr. [redacted] did point out that the website states there is a $7 cover charge when using that coupon which adds up to the SAME AMOUNT I had to pay at full price. So YES their advertising is MISLEADING. They label something "special offers coupons" and in the fine print its not a special offer or a coupon its THE SAME PRICE AS FULL PRICE!!! Mr. [redacted] offered to rectify the situation by sending me some free games in the mail and assured me on the 3rd that he would mail it either than night or the next day. However, the postmark on the envelope revealed that he didn't even put it in the mail until the 14th of September. That was why I couldn't respond about whether or not I was satisfied, because I was waiting to see if he would do what he said he would.
Mr. [redacted] offered to mail free bowling coupons when we spoke on 9/3/15. He DID NOT say he would only be sending 6 coupons that COULD NOT be used on FRIDAYS OR SATURDAYS, DID NOT COVER SHOE RENTALS AND COULD ONLY BE USED ONE AT A TIME or THAT I HAD TO CALL HIM BEFORE I USED THEM ONE AT A TIME. When we spoke on 9/3/15 he assured me he would be sending me free vouchers to try & rectify this situation and assured me he would mail them no later than the next day. At the time I was pleased & felt his offer to be representative of a company w/good business ethic. I was mistaken, because he didn't mail them until 9/14 which was why I was unable to respond to the Revdex.com email & my complaint was closed. I realize now that was probably his intention all along. I want a refund and want no further dealings with companies that employ unscrupulous characters such as Mr. [redacted]. His resolution was nothing more than a sneaky dishonest tactic that would bring more money to AMF, not resolve my complaint.

Company:
AMF Centennial Lanes in Charlotte, NC.

Complaint:
I bowled last season with a league in Charlotte. When we finished the season, I won a certificate for a free Rhino bowling ball from the "pro shop". The certificate has been nothing short of a nightmare. The pro shop manager acted like I was some kind of it for bringing it to him and said I needed to take it to the manager of the alley. I did that and he did the same and said take it to the pro shop manager. Neither acted the least bit interested in helping. I finally got the manager to go with me to the pro shop and he told me to pick the ball size and color. So I did. Let him know which one, and after another smart comment, he wrote it down and said he would take care of it. Just went back to pick it up this last week when bowling with my new league and the pro shop manager said nobody told him about it and it was never ordered. I told him again and he said he would order it. At this point, I can't deal with them anymore. I'd rather just buy my own from another place than deal with them anymore. I have informed my old league of the problems I have encountered with this and they are going to help me file a formal complaint. I will also be letting my new league know in case they plan on offering any similar prizes to their league.

Review: I am filing a complaint with Bowlmar AMF due to a reservation I made on March 4th, 2016 at the [redacted], NJ location. When I spoke to the customer service representative [redacted] to find out about reserving the lanes and the cost she only mentioned the cost per person and never explained the event fee. I received a charged of $74.51 for the event fee the night of the event however this should have been explained over the phone when I made the reservation rather than just sneaking it into the contract. When I called to resolve the issue I spoke to a [redacted] at the [redacted] location, she agreed with me that the representative should have explained the event fee over the phone, however she said wouldn't reverse the fee and when I asked to speak to her manager she said she was on vacation for a week.Desired Settlement: I would like the event fee for $74.51 to be reversed.

Regards,

Review: On Monday night (8/24/15) I took twelve kids and a coupon that I printed off of Groupon at: https://www.groupon.com/biz/centreville-va/amf-bowling-centers. When I gave my printed Groupon coupon to the employee behind the counter (which was for the "Dollar Mania Lighten your mood, not your wallet. $1 Games, $1 shoe rentals and great drink specials after 8pm") he said that the dollar Mondays deal did not apply at the Centreville VA location. I told him that the coupon was for the Centreville, VA AMF location and I showed him that the coupon had the Centreville, VA address PRINTED ON IT, AND that the url for the coupon at the top of the printed coupon ALSO specified it was to be used at the Centreville, VA AMF. He didn't care. He said "No, that is not valid here. That coupon is valid for other locations but not this one." He then told me that someone else just left who had tried to get the same "Dollar Monday" deal and that he told those people the same thing he told me and he offered to get his manager to speak to me. The manager came over and abruptly repeated the same thing the counter guy had just said.

Even though I had a coupon that specified that it was for the Centreville VA AMF location and pointed out that the url at the top of the coupon printout also specifically indicated that it was meant for the Centreville, VA AMF location, he couldn't have cared less about the bind that I was in and restated what the counter guy had just said. If someone had JUST left after trying to use the same coupon then, to me, that's more proof that there are legitimate coupons out there showing the Centreville, VA AMF as a participant in the "Dollar Monday" offer because some other customer tried to use the same offer only minutes prior to my arrival. Due to the dishonest and poor business practices of the Centreville location I spent $107 on shoes and 1 game for my group and was not able to buy my sons and nephews drinks or pizza as I had promised them.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund either back to my credit card or as AMF credit for the extra money that I paid when AMF Centreville refused to honor a coupon that, if invalid, served as false advertising which was the fault of AMF and their failure to correct such false advertising that is currently listed not only on their website for the Centreville VA at:

http://www.amf.com/centrevillelanes/special-offers but is also advertised specifically for the Centreville, VA location at https://www.groupon.com/biz/centreville-va/amf-bowling-centers. The fact that I was told a customer had just left trying to use the same coupon and that I had planned to use the coupon two weeks prior when I saw it advertised online indicates that Centreville AMF is either refusing to accept a valid coupon or that they are aware of the inaccurate advertisements but not making efforts to correct it so that Groupon and the AMF website no longer list the centreville location as participants in the dollar mania offer.

In reference to case number [redacted], I reached out to [redacted] on Tuesday September 1st via email, and did not get a response back from her; she did not leave a number in her complaint to our corporate office. I was able to reach her via phone once we received the letter from her complaint to the Revdex.com. I reached out to her on Thursday the 3rd of September, I was able to speak with her about her concerns, she did point out the posting on Groupon that stated the $1 Monday Mayhem, I acknowledged that posting but informed her that was a general offering that Groupon pulled for their add, when I directed her to our Web-Site and the site that directed her to the AMF Centreville Lanes, I pointed out to her that the offering also included a $7.00 cover charge to start the program. When I pointed that out she and I went back and forth a little bit as to the actual location, she did finally acknowledge the Promotion but stated that it was miss-leading with the Groupon post, I did agree with her on that and acknowledged that we partner up with Groupon, but they took it upon themselves to post this, I used an example of someone putting a false add on a site like Craig’s List offering Promotions that a company is not compliant with, she understood. I also proceeded to let her know the amount she spent in total, which was $107.46, was slightly less than the total she would have paid with the promotion that was offered. Based on the promotion offered, it is $7.00 per person and $1.00 for each game and $1.00 for the shoe rental, her total price for the single round of games would have been $108.00 in total, because she had a total of 12 people in her group. I did apologize for any inconvenience and informed her that we are in the hospitality business and would be more than happy to send her some complimentary certificates, when I was speaking to her I asked her” I assume you intended on playing more than 1 game when you originally came to the center but decided not based on your initial assumption of the pricing, she then said no” I then said that I would be more than happy to offer her a credit for her next time she came in and she was very accepting of that, I did say it will not be the full amount that she expected based on the actual promotion but did want to do something for her for her frustrations. I have attached a copy of both the Groupon promotion and the Promotion listed on our Company web site [redacted]Bowlmor AMFBeltway District15720 Shady Grove RoadGaithersburg, MD 20877[redacted] (m)[redacted]www.bowlmor.com

Response:

That was why I couldn't respond about whether or not I was satisfied, because I was waiting to see if he would do what he said he would.Mr.

Review: My complaint is about a monetary transaction at the [redacted] involving an order places for an alcoholic beverage. I wanted to cancel my order that I had placed and paid for with cash. The bartender advised that she was unable to cancel and refund my money but I could speak with the manager. The manager I spoke with was [redacted]. She was unwilling to refund my money. My order was never completed. I never took possession of the beverage. So I'm confused why my money could not be refunded and my order cancelled. I've never been to an establishment where a consumer could not change there mind or cancel a service before it has been rendered.Desired Settlement: I ended up walking out of the bowling alley DONATING $15.00 and never getting anything in return for it. I feel as if I was robbed without a weapon. I would like [redacted] to contact me at [redacted] to resolve this incident in refunding my money I spend at the center on 10/19/2013 and my personal time. I frequent [redacted] and [redacted] bowling centers and right now [redacted] has a very unpleasing taste in my mouth.
