Thanks [redacted]Desired Settlementi would like my 600 dollars back if they want the parts they can have them.Business Response First off, I'm sorry that your financial situation doesn't allow you to properly maintain / repair this particular vehicle, but that has nothing to do with this matter. It is true that this car was towed here (after you towed it home first) for repair around 8-28 because it would hardly run at all. Any throttle would cause it to stall if it would start at all. We were instructed to find out why and provide an estimate for necessary repairs, which we did. The timing belt jumped 2 teeth causing said issue. Also once removed the water pump impeller was broken ( likely from being frozen in the winter , it has been sitting up for about a year as we were told ) so we did replace the timing belt (damaged), timing belt tensioner (weak), water pump (broken), thermostat (maintenance), crankshaft position sensor ( it was chewed on by something ), spark plugs (fouled from running bad) and necessary fluids. The approved invoice came in at $635.24 and we gave you a cash discount and settled on $600.00. While here in the shop we noticed several other issues with the car and relayed them to you at which time you said get it to run so you can drive it. You were told that the cooling fans were not functioning ( so it would likely overheat ), the exhaust pipe was broken causing issues with the oxygen sensors and pollution control systems and that there were several other issues that you declined service on. I'm OK with that, It's not my car. It is also true that the car stalled and was towed back in 9-9 and after diagnostics ( that you were not charged for ) we determined that the ignition coil had failed completely on cylinder #4 and was also weak on cylinder #2, causing it to run very poorly. The timing components were just fine. You were given an estimate on replacing the ignition coil and we also recommended spark plug wires ( ** recommended replacement would have been years ago but these were still original). The repair was declined. At that time you inquired about fixing the exhaust and were given an estimate. The repair was declined. I understand that this is not a pleasant experience but I do not believe that the fault is on us. I have had several cars that just weren't worth the financial expense to fix so I got rid of them and moved on. Vehicles are vastly complex machines and a huge amount of time and money can go into them to get them "right", some people are up for it and some are not. Vehicles break, wear out, get neglected, live in the elements and so on, that is part of owning a car. As for the towing, it broke down and you had it towed home and then towed to the shop and then it broke down again and you had it towed to the shop and then towed back home, yes that is expensive but most vehicle insurance plans have a provision for towing coverage. As for taking the parts off and refunding the money you paid for the timing repair, the problem was not our fault, it was a completely different issue -ignition coil- (similar symptoms for most people sure, but not the same in any way). In short, I will not refund you on a job that was done properly. We do however offer the best warranty around because we stand behind our work 100% but in this case it was not our work or parts that failed. It was a separate system; and if and when you fix the ignition coil something else will at some point fail causing similar break down symptoms (i.e. mass air flow sensor, blown head gasket (from overheating), ignition module, fuel pump, fuel pump relay, auxiliary fuse box, inhibit relay and so on ). If you are still unsatisfied I will offer you $200.oo for the timing belt, timing belt tensioner, water pump, thermostat, crankshaft position sensor and spark plugs we installed if returned undamaged (they will be inspected for signs of forceful removal) by 09-28-15 at the close of business. Consumer Response So they get away for charging me 600 and only got to drive it twos days not happy but I guess I will find someone else and see if they can help me.
