Took 2 2 fix a issue that was wrong w/ motor was nothing wrong w/ transfer case & no check engine light on when took 2 call about & refused 2 resolve We had purchased the vehicle from a dealer and the only problem was a knocking in the motor the warranty we purchased with the vehicle covered it to be fixed. Called the dealer they recommended and set up a appointment to drop the vehicle off at boyds automotive to be fixed. Upon getting the vehicle back noticed a noise but at first thought it was nothing got within 5 miles of home and check engine light came on and sounded like something was getting ready to fall out from underneath the vehicle. We had to wait until the next day to call them and let them know that the transfer case had been messed up and that the check engine light was on. Upon talking to [redacted] he got hateful and rude with me stating that they had not touched the transfer case and I had not said anything about them touching it then he goes on to tell me not to call him again.Desired SettlementWe would like for him to pay for the vehicle to be fixed from were it was messed up from were they fixed the motor. Business Response /[redacted]/The customer's vehicle was brought to our shop on 8/14/15 for internal engine problems. We checked and found noise coming from the bottom end. We removed upper and lower oil pan to find bad rod and main bearing. We removed the engine and installed an engine that was provided by the customer's warranty company. After installing said engine and performing a road test, the check engine light came on. We checked and found that the light was related to a bad oxygen sensor. The customer was made aware of this issue before picking up the vehicle. The customer denied the repair. We reset the engine light to clear the code and the vehicle was picked up at the beginning of September. The customer called our business, the day after picking up her vehicle, and spoke with the owner stating that the engine light had come back on and she wanted to know what we had done to her transfer case. She was at that point told that we had never touched her transfer case and we requested that the customer bring the vehicle back to our shop for a recheck. The customer immediately became loud and irate over the phone. The language of the customer was so improper that we cannot even mention it in this response. The owner tried to calm her down to discuss the work that was done on her vehicle and the customer disconnected the call by hanging up. It was never mentioned that the customer should not call the place of business again. The customer did not bring back the vehicle as requested. This is very unfortunate, since we strive on customer satisfaction and to insure a good reputation with our clientele. We believe that we handled the situation in a proper and professional manner and that we fixed what the vehicle was brought in for. The customer was made aware of the issue related to the engine light and refused to have it repaired. The issue of the transfer case is not related to anything that was done in our shop.Consumer Response /[redacted]/I was told by [redacted] not to contact them and they hadn't touched the transfer case but it is funny that I have a extra vent tube hanging that should be attached to the transfer case. Final Business Response /[redacted]/It was never mentioned that the customer do not contact us. During the phone conversation, after the vehicle was picked up, we requested that the customer bring the vehicle back to our place of business for a recheck. This was at the beginning of September. (Please note: All 4 wheel drives have two vent tubes. One going to the transmission and one going to the transfer case. They hang.) We never touched the transfer case as this was not related to the work that was done on her vehicle. We would be more than happy to recheck the vehicle as we originally requested. The customer may contact us at any time to schedule. Final Consumer Response /[redacted]/(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)We "were told not to contact". He got mad when I called him and didn't offer anything to resolve the issue. He was rude when I tried to talk to him. He became really irate in our phone conversation.
