Review: We had Boyd [redacted] do work for us the last 2 years and we where happy with the outcome. However this last time we wanted him to add a little concrete patio and some rock. He knew that my wife who is a disabled Vet and going through cancer treatments was sick and he also gave my 89 year old mother in-law a big hug as well. He wanted a thousand dollars upfront. I did not like the idea but my wife and mother in-law said they believed in Boyd. I however was not happy about giving him that much money. I did the worst thing a person should do and gave him the money upfront. That was over 6 weeks ago. I have tried calling every number I had for him on a daily basis trying to get this resolved he will not answer his phone. What is so frustrating all I get is a answer machine. at one point he did answer the phone and said that he couldn't get concrete delivered on Fridays. At first I tried leaving friendly messages hoping that way might work and of course with no call back my messages have turned to frustration and anger. I feel that if he is able to do this to a disabled sick vet and a senior citizen he has no care about stealing peoples money and disappearing. I fear that this is a very familiar pattern with him. We should never have let this man in our home to think of him as a friend what a mistake. I hope others get a chance to read this and avoid the same mistake we made.Desired Settlement: I would like him to give us the thousand dollars back. I do not expect I will get it do to the fact I have no written contract with him. I would like him to at least come and finish what he promised or I should say what we paid him for.
Review: Boyd
[redacted], of Boyd's Landscaping, was hired to finish our landscaping project. We
received an estimate/invoice & agreed to his price. I then received a phone
call shortly after his start asking for more money after already paying him
partially to cover materials. He explained that the job was bigger than
anticipated. I explained this was a hard bid & if anything he explained at
the time of initial payment it would possibly be less money…not more. This is
when things began to not go well. At this time we also discovered that his
employees were not on the books all 6 or so & he was paying them under the
table. Many mentioned they were having a hard time getting paid from him.
We gathered pictures of these employees & they proceeded to try to
get done what he originally agreed to do. During this time we had sprinkler
drip lines he relocated blow apart causing flooding thus washing dirt against
the curbing he installed & so on. To this day we are still repairing these.
His sub that he employed to put in the curbing, also did not follow the painted
line my wife & Boyd had painted on the ground as to where the curbing was
to be installed. After speaking with the curbing company owner, he stated he
had told Boyd that that’s not how they typically install curbing; on the inside
of lawn sprinklers. Boyd told him it’s fine, disregarding the concern & had
him do it anyway. (Without consulting us). This has caused much issues with the
water flowing through other landscaping dirt & pooling up in areas. This
also caused our sprinklers to be on the wrong side which were already in place
to water our established yard. The curbing contractor also shut off our
main line to the sprinkles causing some of our grass to die during the 100
degree heat wave. Boyd via a phone call reassured us they would turn our water
on after the install & set-up of concrete. We were on vacation at
this time & put our trust into Boyd’s hands. Upon our return a half of a
week later, the water had still not been turned on, resulting in the need to
put grass seed in, which we’re still maintaining to gain the grass back.
In the end after many discussions on what he could do to fix his mistakes
& vulgar behavior, witnessed by his own son & employees as he was
throwing a fit with a small tractor, running through our landscaping &
ripping up landscape fabric that his employees placed down, along with lashing
out to my wife about the money he has to pay & his rentals need returned
now, along with his lack of professional behavior on our property, he demanded
to be paid in full. I chose this to be the easy path even though the job
was 90% done & 80% done to our satisfaction for , to write him a check for
the safety of my family & home to get him off our property. Later, I
attempted to order additional rock for our neighbors, (using the same company
which he had deliver rock, dropping mostly on our other neighbors property,
without our permission or presence, as well as having his employees sign
for each delivery), & was surprised to find out Dustin Mahaffey of Mahaffey
Enterprises explained he would be placing a lien on our property if Boyd did
not pay for the materials he had delivered & signed for to complete our
job. This has been weeks ago & he had still has not paid for this rock. We
have L&I involved now as well as a personal attorney to help us out for his
poor choices. We are needing him to pay Mahaffey for the products we already
paid for in full as well as $1,000 for our continued progress in fixing his
poor work.Desired Settlement:
