Review: I PAID 50% MORE THAN WHAT WAS QUOTED FOR THE DELIVERY OF MY FURNITURE - FROM 5,000.00 TO 10,000.00. TOLD THIS AFTER MY FURNITURE WAS LOADED. WHEN DELIVERED, WOULD NOT UNLOAD UNTIL I GAVE THE BALANCE IN CASH ONLY. *WHEN PACKING, THEY DELIBERATELEY MADE MORE ITEMS BY UNPACKING AND REPACKING BOXES AT WHICH TIME WHEN MOVING MY DAUGHTER'S BELONGINGS INTO BOXES, SOMEONE HELPED THEMSELVES TO HER DIAMOND RING. & A PIAR OF ZIRCONIA STUD EARRINGS. NOT DISCOVERED UNTILL UNPACKING LATER ON. VERY MISLEADING ON THE FRONT OF THE DELIVERY. THE ESTIMATOR AGREED WITH THE AMOUNT DUE FROM THE SALES REP, BUT THE MAN IN CHARGE AT THE HOUSE WHILE PACKING GAVE THE ORDER TO DO AS MENTIONED ABOVE. PLUS - MISSING AND DAMAGED ITEMS HAVE NOT BEEN FOUND PER DISPATCHER, GEN. MGR , [redacted]. IT'S BEEN 3 WEEKS SINCE I SENT IN MY COMPLAINT. FONAN FINALLY CALLED AND SAID HE WOULD RESEARCH AND GET BACK TO ME - NOTHING YET. THE FIRST AGREEMENT WAS DONE PER ITEM, THE ESTIMATOR DID THE SAME THING. THE MOVERS COUNTED BY PIECES - DISASSEMBLING ITEMS THAT DID NOT NEED TO BE TAKEN APART. ALSO, DISASSEMBLED ITEMS WERE TO BE RE-ASSEMBLED WHEN DELIVERED - NOT SO. THE VAN DRIVER TOLD THE HELP (WHO WERE HIRED OF THE STREET AT MINIMUM WAGE) TO JUST TAKE EVERYTHING INSIDE AND SET IT DOW - I HEARD HIM AND WENT OFF. THEY FINALLY DID SOME OF IT. I COULD GO ON AND ON, BUT I BELIEVE YOU, Revdex.com, GET THE DRIFT.

I CAME TO FLORIDA FOR HEALTH REASONS, PSORIAS, IT IS BACK IN FULL FORCE AND I AM UNDER A DOCTORS CARE NOW. MY DAUGHTER AND GRANDSON ARE NOT PHYSICALLY CAPEABLE TO LIFT AND DO, SO I'M STUCK UNTIL I FIND SOMEONE WHO WILL COME IN AND FINISH WHAT I BELIEVE BR SHOULD HAVE DONE. I HAVE SENT THEM A LETTER TOTALLING DAMAGED, MISSING AND "STOLEN" JEWELRY. I DO NOT KNOW IF THE WILL REFUND ANYTHING. I RESENT THE FACT THAT I HAD TO MAX OUT MY CREDIT TO ABIDE BY BR'S WISHES.

ANYTHING YOU CAN DO FOR ME WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANK YOU, [redacted].Desired Settlement: REFUND OF 1/2 PAID = $5,000.00 & THE AMOUNT THE RING WAS WORTH $2,900.00

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:The missing items were not found until we unpacked the boxes that BR Mover packed from my Daughter's dresser. BR Movers should have sent you a copy of my complaint submitted to them via express mail on April 10th. which was received by [redacted]. Looking at the attachments, they were of their "Originals" where they wrote their notes. As for not re-assembling the armoire - that was my choice to save the delivery men time. There is no mention of the night table damages, missing bakers rack (not listed on list) but disassemble by them at pick-up. Furthermore, as I said in my complaint, it is totally unfair to not do the job by the estimate the Sales person and the appraisor gave in the beginning. Items were disassembled that did not need it. That move only increased the number of "Pieces". Revdex.com, in my opinion, should ask BRMovers for a copy of my claim of April 10th. I kept a copy of the letter and pictures. I would be glad to send them to you and hopefully you will see that my claim is not out of line.

On another note, the pick-up crew did a good job, doing what the Supervisor told them to do. He was very professional and courteous AND knew exactly what to do to get me to sign the papers from an item count to flat rate - doubling the amount of the original contract. The delivery crew, in my opinion, was not movers, merely people picked up off the street, maybe, but had no clue on what to do. The Van Driver, of course, would not unload until I gave him the balance due in cash. He told them to just take it in and set it down. We did not ask for any unpacking of boxes, just assemble everything they disassembled on pick-up. The armoir would have taken a long time, so I told them just to stack it for me, which they did. [redacted]The Van Driver, upon arriving, knocked down a neighbor's mail box in making his turn to come down our street. No mention on how or if they will pay for that. The amount I am asking for is $ 1,238.31 (with the return of the jewelry) OR $2,388.31 withOUT the jewelry. Jewery valued at 2,300.00, a jewerler would allow 50% toward a replacement or trade on other jewelry. Please let me know what else I can do to get this claim satisfied, ASAP. This move cleaned me out of my savings and maxed out my credit cards, waiting for the to deliver from 02/23/2013 to 03/11/2013. Per the salesperson, [redacted], my move shold have only taken 3 or 4 days as it was on the east coast, not the west coast like California.

I move to Florida for health and finance reasons. I will not go into that as the above is more important to me now. Thank you for taking the time to hear me out.

To Whom it May Concern:

Review: This company moved my belongings across the country in September of 2012. During transport, they damaged my bookcase to the point where is was no longer usable. In fact, the movers only delivered the parts of the bookcase that weren't completely destroyed. In Section 4 of their company policies page, they clearly state that each item is covered, at no charge to the customer, up to $0.60 per pound. Even though they acknowledged, both verbally and in writing, that they did in fact destroy my bookcase, I have yet to receive reimbursement for this damage.Desired Settlement: BR Movers must honor the contract and remit monetary compensation the loss of my bookcase. The bookcase was 83 pounds, so that means they owe me $49.80.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

The statement "the customer **. [redacted] neither file a complaint nor claim form directly with our company" is false, as proven by the attached document. They said they would honor the claim, but never did. This demonstrates either ineptitude or dishonesty, neither of which engender confidence and trust in the company.

Review: I spoke to a woman at BR-Movers named [redacted] on Thursday 5/23/2013. She assisted in booking this company to perform my residential move on 6/15/2013. When I spoke to her we discussed teh follwoing before I gave my deposit and agreed to move forward:

-Their standard is a 3 man crew, I requested a 4 man crew. We discussed the difference in cost. I agreed on the basis that 4 men would work more efficiently.

-I explained that the delivery address is on the 3rd and 4th floors , that there were many stairs, and I wanted to know up front if there would be a surcharge, becuase I did not want any surprises.

-she booked me for 8 hours (although the move actually only took 6 hours)

-she factored in my 10% discount, and I gave her a $100 deposit at this time

On moving day the crew arrived at 10am although they were to arrive between 8-9am per the agreement. [redacted], the foreman, then started telling me the price I had agreed upon with [redacted] did not include wrapping and padding my furniture. He felt that I'd benefit from the $159/hr rate, vs the $95/hr rate I AGREED to. I asked him to NOT wrap or pad my couches. I was told that was not an option. They had to wrap and pad for their insurance/liability reasons, and without doing so they could not move my furniture. To make a long story short, this company is operating quite the scam to pull people in. Lets face it, when your house is packed, it's moving day, you have to be out, you don't have the freedom to turn the movers away. I agreed to $653 charge, which in reality should have been lower becuase they only took 6 hours. Upon arrival to my new home, [redacted] reviewed the "actual" charges, and I ended up paying him an additional $491. $491 that I had not expected to pay, but again, they had me in quite the corner. I hired them based on teh foruth-man on the crew, and, orf course, their price! They are not up front about actual charges. I was VERY upfront with [redacted] about the contents of the home, the stairs, etc, she assured me $653 was my total, and she was not upfront in return about how I'd be cornered in to these additional charges the morning of my move.

I expressed to [redacted] that I felt they run a very dishonest operation, and assured him that I'd pursue this. I also notified the office by stating the above on their written evaluation form that I was told would be taken back to the BR office.Desired Settlement: I expect a refund of $491

To Whom It May Concern:

Thank you for your recent notification of the complaint

made by customer [redacted]. BR Movers would like to take this

opportunity to address the customer’s statements.

BR

Movers provided the customer with an initial estimate based on 6 hours of labor

and 1 hour of travel time. The actual time that the customer’s move took was 6.5

hours of labor and 1 hour of travel time. This actual labor time was multiplied

by the agreed upon rate per hour. The customer also paid a 9% fuel charge, a 5%

credit card cost, and $250 in additional materials that the customer required

due to having an additional need for packing services. The customer has not

described any sort of scandalous practices only the company policy regarding

keeping a customer’s items safe, and adjusting the price according to actually

labor and materials used.

Please review the attached paperwork

for detailed description of the charges and the customer’s signature

acknowledging these totals. Please contact BR Movers for any additional

information.

Response:

Per your request there are the documents for the move.

Please contact BR-Movers for any future clarifications

They moved all my things on time and not a single item damaged.
I just unpacked my new home and am so thankful I didn't hire careless movers.
They informed me about everything through the entire process regarding when my shipment will be picked up as well as when my shipment will be delivered
I have already recommended them to my friends and will continue to in future also

Review: We chose this company for our move 2 years ago. During the first move with them they were very professional and courteous. We moved 1 year later and used them again. The second time we moved with the same amount of stuff in our 1 bedroom apartment, we were charged almost triple the amount that we paid the first time. Since the first move was very reasonable priced, we did expect to pay a little more. Our problem was with the practices of the movers that came to our house. They told us that it was their company policy to use mattress covers on our beds. We had 2 beds and were charged $25 apiece for mattress covers. They charged us for 4 mattress covers because they said that the box springs needed to be covered in these covers as well by policy. We were not told this until the end when they were showing us the bill. We would have never allowed them to charge us for that if we knew. After arguing with the mover for some time, he told use that he would not unload our items if we did not pay for what he put on the bill and got very agitated with us for asking questions about the items listed. Once the beds were moved into the house we saw that they did not use the mattress covers on the box springs but rather just put some plastic wrap around it. It was clear that they did not use the same covers that were on the beds. When we asked they said that it would protect the bed the same way. They also refused to remove these charges for the extra 2 mattress covers from the bed. That was an additional $110 because it costs $30 to put the covers on and take them off for each cover. The second issue that we had was that the mover stood over our shoulders while we filled out the customer satisfaction survey before we realized what happened with the beds. He was basically telling us what to write and not allowing us to put anything negative. He then proceeded to tell us that fe does moves with this friends outside of the company on his days off. He said that we should have just asked the receptionist for his number and he would have done the move at half to the price. We prefer to use the companies because of the insurance that goes along with that. The move lasted for only 3.5 hours which should have cost us around $400. We were charged an additional $600 in supplies for them to move a 1 bedroom apartment. $600 was for tape, plastic wrap and mattress covers plus to labor to put it all on and take it off. We had packed the whole apartment and placed everything in boxes so the work that the movers needed to do was minimal in terms of packing and wrapping items. We have tried on numerous occasions to get in touch with someone at that company to explain what this mover did during our move but we have never received a call back. When we are actually able to get in touch with someone, they tell us that their policy allows the movers discretion when determining what supplies to use. When we said that we were never asked about the exorbitant amount of supplies being used they said that we sign off in the beginning and they are not obligated to tell us. I understand that, but when the price is that high, it would be courteous of the mover to let us know that he is spending all of this extra time and charging us for supplies over $600. When we mentioned that the movers charged us for items that we didn’t receive they asked us if we had any proof, like the garbage from the move (old plastic to show that we only have 2 covers instead of 1). We did not have those items because the movers told us that they would remove all of the garbage for free. one of the only free things that we received that day. I am not able to get the name of the mover from the customer service phone number and we are not able to even talk to someone about a refund. we cannot get past the customer service secretary each and every time we call. Our concerns have gone unnoticed and we are still fighting, almost 5 months later at this point, to get some sort of acknowledgment to our requests.Desired Settlement: We realize that the company has certain policies concerning what items they have to use and we understand that we have to pay for those items. We are looking for reimbursement for the 2 mattress covers that we were charged for and never received as well as the labor that goes along with that. That reimbursement would total $110. We are also looking for this company to at least review the items used in our move and determine if anything else was excessive. We have moved with this company before only 1 year before with the same items in our house. The exact same furniture and pre-boxed items. They charged us only $400 for the first move and then charged us $1150 for the second one. We would like the company to review this list of supplies totaling $600 to see if there was anything else in there that was overcharged by the employee doing our move. We would also like to make sure that the management at this company realized that their employee in this incident told us that we would have been better off moving with him outside of the company to save money. We will not move with a private mover so it is very unprofessional for someone to try and take business away from their own employer.

Re: [redacted]

Case

ID: [redacted]

To Whom It May Concern:

Thank you for your recent notification of

complaint made by customer [redacted]. BR Movers would like to address

these statements at this time.

First

and foremost, BR Movers would like to apologize for any miscommunication

regarding the charges during this customer’s move.

BR Movers is slightly perplexed by the customer’s statements

as his breakdown of the cost of the move is inaccurate.

The most obvious discrepancy is that the customer paid some

$600 for packing materials.

As the attached paperwork will display, the customer paid

$300 for packing materials ($72 of which was refunded).

The move did, however, take 8 hours of labor, not the 3.5

that the customer has stated.

This of course altered the total cost as the rate per hour

was multiplied by the number of hours of labor.

The customer has requested the odd amount of $110 for the

mattress covers but the customer fails to understand that although the movers

protected the box springs in shrink wrap rather than mattress covers, the

shrink wrap still has a materials cost, which was appropriately

calculated.

The customer was already refunded $72 on the date of the

move for packing materials.

All charges are valid; please review the

attached paperwork to view a more detailed breakdown of the total cost. BR

Movers hopes this will help resolve the issue and will be happy to provide any

other information requested.

Response:

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed Administratively Resolved] Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: There is no attachment in this response, please send us a copy of the invoice that you have on file so that I can compare it to what I was given by the movers. I believe that the invoice that you have on file is different from the invoice that I signed.

The $72 refund that we received was for time that was not used, not materials. When we arrived at our new house we calculated the total of our move with the movers to determine a total for our move. They estimated another 2 hours to unload the truck which was included in the total of the move. We arranged the furniture ourselves so we asked the movers to just bring everything into the rooms that we needed them in and unwrap them. The full unload of the truck took them 1 hour and 10 minutes. That refund was not for supplies, but for time that was not used based on the higher estimate. The $72 refund was the prorated reduction based on the 50 minutes that were not used during the unload. The price of the shrink wrap is considerable less than the mattress covers. Although the item was protected the same, we should not have to pay for items that we never received. If shrink wrap protects the mattress the same way, then why were we not charged for the $7 dollar roll of shrink wrap? Our move started at 10am and was completed by 3pm. The paperwork that we have for this move clearly states that it only took 5 hours and not 8 hours. The rest of the costs that were charged to us were for materials. We were charged for materials that they never even used. I believe that the paper work that you have on file for this move is different than the paper work that we have signed and what we were given as our bill.

The main problem with this move was that we were given an estimate of 3.5 hours plus materials. We understand that things come up and the moves can take extra time, but it is our reasonable expectation that our move would be within a few hours of the estimate and that the materials would also be within a reasonable amount. Also, this is a 1 bedroom house that we were renting so we didn’t have any large appliances. We literally moved a bedroom set and a living room set and 1 extra bed. The whole reason for this complaint is that we used BR Movers the year before for the same move with the same furniture. We traveled about the same distance and moved into a home about the same size. So how can the same move with the same furniture only 1 year later costs us almost 4 times the amount from the same company? All that we are looking for is to be refunded for the materials that were never used in our move and that BR Movers looks into the paper work that was submitted for our move to determine why there are such huge differences from what we signed to what you have on file. We would appreciate you looking into the actions of these movers. The manager of the move was very unprofessional and made it very uncomfortable for us. He spent a lot of time telling us that we could move with him and his crew outside of the company for much less next time. It is unfortunate that because of these movers, we have had this issue with your company. Like I stated earlier, we used BR Movers 2 years ago for the first time and we had one of the best experiences with movers to date. They were fast and professional and did not break or damage anything. They explained all of the costs and were very friendly. That is the whole reason why we went with your company again. After this last move, we have some serious concerns about what type of service we will get if we used your movers again. We appreciate you taking the time to get back to us and we hope that we can come to a resolution.

Review: Fraudulent swindlers. They overcharge and rip you off. They quote a different number and use harassment tactics by holding your personal belongings and refuse to move in your items by threatening you to not deliver them if you refuse to pay the bogus charges they make up. They even charged me labor for packing even though I provided the packing material myself. They ripped me off on 160$ for just driving from dc to my place although their quote said it would only be 80$. Their initial estimate was 331$, but I ended up paying 700$ for all kinds of bogus charges their employee made up. They are the most unscrupulous self serving business people I have ever come across. When I asked for a clear break down of the final charges, they refused to give it to me fearing I could go after them to complain about them. They are pretty dishonest in their business practices and I have witnessed their senior employee beating their own junior employees during the moving of my property. It was disgusting to watch that. They also refused to clean up after they finished their work just because I bargained on the bogus prices he was overcharging me for.Desired Settlement: Fix business practice by being honest upfront.

To Whom it May Concern:

Thank you for your recent notification of complaint filed by customer [redacted].

BR Movers would like to take this opportunity to address

the statements made by this customer.

First and foremost, BR Movers has not

"invented" any charges all charges are giving to the customer is

advance before the relocation process was began.

The customer was present on that day and is fully aware

of the labor time spent moving his items as well as the materials used in order

to safely transport these goods.

The customer's original estimate was based on 3 hours of

labor plus 1 hour for travel time - based on the information that was provided

by [redacted] to our seals rep.

Upon arrival, the movers began the move and informed the

customer of all packing requirements.

The total time for the move was 5 hours of labor, 1 hour

travel time (at a rate of $80 per hour), $193.00 worth of packing materials,

and a 9% fuel cost.

Please see attached paperwork for a detailed list of

materials used, as well as the customer's signature and explanation of charges.

The customer's items were never held hostage in any way, the movers accept

payment at the time of delivery prior to unloading of the items (this is

explained in the contract as well, which the customer has read and agreed to).

The total cost of the move increased due to an increase

in hours of labor and a need for some packing services, very simply put.

All charges are valid and approved by [redacted].

Please do not hesitate to contact us with any additional

questions.

Review: On 01/06/2014 BR movers showed up at my house to preform a long distance move. They were contacted by [redacted] moving company. When they arrived they stated that my estimate was way low and it would cost me approximately $3000. I was fine with that price and told them to proceed. After they loaded the truck they then told me the finial price would be $5400. My original quote was $1800. They informed me that I filled the whole 1000cu foot truck. Upon my inspection of the truck I discovered the truck was only 700 cu feet and there was a large portion taken up of materials that were not mine. When I informed them off what I observed they called the boss and I was told that the price was lowered to $4400 for the move and I had to pay half in cash now. I told them I could not pay that much and I wanted the truck to be unloaded. They then informed me that they could not unload the truck without me paying $1875. It would cost that much due to the materials they used as well as labor. They claimed they used $1295 in materials. I counted that they used 20 boxes and one roll of clear packing wrap and 6 rolls of tape. They started if I could not pay them then they would take my stuff and charge me for storage. After I paid them the money they unloaded the truck. In gee process of unloading the truck they scratched my wood floor in three different places.

Later in the night after the crew had left my house I called my representative from [redacted] and expressed my displeasure. He called the owner of BR Movers and the owner said that he told his crew that they would do the job for $3800 bringing my total to $3200 since I had a $600 deposit. He does not know why his crew saidni could only pay cash and why there was a difference in price. [redacted] since has said they could set me up with a new company but could not give me any money back. [redacted] since has not returned any of my calls.Desired Settlement: I feel that the cost that I had to pay yesterday was way to high and I was bait and switched. I had to pay $1245 yesterday. I feel my deposit of $600 should more than cover the little materials they used add well as the labor (considering I helped them load and unload the truck).

Review: My experience was really somewhat of a bait and switch. I spoke with the company's representative, who provided an estimate of my move. She also provided me with an email with that estimate, as well as other information. On the move day, three gentleman came to my home to move me, one being the foreman. This gentleman did sit down with me and go over lots of paperwork, which disclosed all types of information concerning my move. The bottom line is this: The total cost of the move from $1,100. It was an hourly move and the movers pretty much "slow walked" through the move, and the foreman wasted time sitting down for at least 45 minutes completing some "paperwork". What really should have been a 5 hour move became an entire 8 hour days work -- which is what I believe the company instructs movers to do -- stretch out the time as long as possible and run up the bill as high as possible This company is really running a scam and shouldn't even be allowed to stay in business. I am going to do whatever I can to have DCRA revoke they license to do business in the District of Columbia.Desired Settlement: They did the job, basically as contracted. However, they doubled the time it should have taken to do the job, and the final bill was almost four times the original estimate.

To

Whom It May Concern:

Thank

you for your recent notification of complaint by customer [redacted].

BR

Movers would like to take this opportunity to address the customer's

statements.

Based

on the customer's recount of the series of events from her recent move,

BR

Movers did not break any laws nor violate any Department of Transportation

regulations.

The

customer was provided with a quote based on the information which she provided,

and reserved her move (see our attached estimate form).

The

quote is based on the estimated number of hours and can fluctuate based on the

actual amount of time or packaging materials the customer may need in her move,

but did not indicate prior to the move.

Upon

arrival, the customer has stated that BR Movers has complied with regulations

in sitting down with the customer before the move began and describing any

changes to the contract and creating a new contract based on actual needs.

The

customer was informed of the new estimated number of hours based on visually

assessing the items as well as packing materials needed for the move.

The customer's labor time for her move did not begin until after all paperwork

is signed and the movers begin to handle the customer's items.

The

customer is completely incorrect - and unjustified - to file a formal complaint

regarding a move in which the customer has openly stated that everything was

made clear to her prior to the move beginning. The customer's signature shows

that she has agreed to this cost and all charges are valid.

To

attempt to justify the refunding of funds on account of an opinion of the speed

at which movers should move is not valid.

BR

Movers moving crews move multiple customers per day, there is never motivation

to slow down a move as this would result in other customers who are scheduled

to be bumped back, most likely losing more business and profit than making

it.

All

in all, the customer was provided professional safe moving service for her

relocation needs.

The

move taking longer than estimated is the result of not accurately depicting the

items to be moved or the need for materials, not "slow movers".

The

customer's statements are such as "I believe the company is scamming

people..." is proof in itself that this is a matter of the customer's

opinion, not factual information regarding the move.

The

customer's statements regarding getting BR Movers business license revoked

indicates a clear vendetta and not a valid explanation as to why this charge is

not valid.

Please

note, none of the customer's items were damaged during her move, the cost was

agreed upon prior to the move beginning,

BR

Movers has complied with all rules and regulations and the customer has agreed

to all charges. These claims are unfounded and no refund will be processed.

Please

contact BR Movers for any further assistance.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

The company's business practices are shady at best. Their "bait and switch" technique is a scam and if you check the various sites, such as "[redacted]", etc. you will find that numerous customers have had the same experience. BR Movers stated to me that they could provide many other reviews from satisfied customers; however, I believe they could (and would) certainly create these reviews themselves. I will continue to do what I can to have their license revoked.

The only answer to that is good luck [redacted]

I do hope that we will meet one day in court of law

Review: On 8/26/2013, I called BR Movers and spoke with a representative about a 1 Bedroom move from [redacted], MD to [redacted], MD. I explained that I needed to move on 8/28/2013, and could reserve the freight elevator between 11 AM and 1 PM to make the move go more quickly. At the time, I also asked about furniture padding. The representative informed me on the phone not to worry about that, that the company would provide free furniture padding and "take care of all that."

I received a move estimate verbally over the phone and electronically later that day, and acknowledge receipt. The estimate sounded reasonable for a small 1 bedroom move, and I provided my credit card number to provide a $100 deposit for the moving services requested. The written estimate included an estimate of 3.0 hours for moving plus an hour of travel time, along with other fees and chargers not disclosed in the phone call, but which I considered reasonable. In total, the move estimate was $353.00.

On 8/27/13, I received a call from [redacted] at BR movers, asking if it would be ok for the movers to come later in the day. I checked with my apartment company, and learned that the elevator was available to be reserved from 1 PM to 3 PM. I shared this with [redacted], who said the movers would arrive between 12 and 12:30, so they'd be ready to start right at 1.

On 8/28/13, around noon, I received a call that the movers had a longer job that morning, and would be arriving late, but definitely by 3 PM. Once again, I reached out to the apartment company and changed my elevator reservation time to 3 PM.

At approximately 3:10, I received a call from the truck driver, who informed me that GPS said he was 58 minutes away from my location. Once again, I changed the elevator reservation time, though by this point my leasing office was obviously frustrated at me.

Finally, an hour later than their expected "58 minutes out" time, the movers showed up. This is where the first bait and switch attempt happened:

At approximately 5 PM, the truck and movers arrived at my location. At this point, the main guy explained that the truck they brought was too small for my 1 Bedroom move, and that I was looking at at least 2, and probably 3 trips from [redacted] to [redacted]. During rush hour traffic. And they'd expect to be paid for all of the extra travel hours in between at the same rate I was originally quoted. They estimated that instead of 3 hours, I was looking at 11 or 12 hours of moving time, quadrupling the estimate because they failed to bring the correct equipment to handle my move in a single trip.

Then the second bait and switch attempt:

At this point, their representative also express surprise that my stuff wasn't "packed." This confused me, because everything in my apartment was boxed, taped, and ready to go. Boxes were labeled on all sides, and separated by size to make loading easier. When I asked him to clarify, he explained that none of my wooden furniture was wrapped. I told him that the representative I had spoken with on the phone had said that they would provide, for free, padding and wrapping of the wooden furniture. He explained that while the pads were free, wrapping and taping the pads to the furniture was not.

He also explained that they would not move unprotected furniture, and they considered furniture pads not applied with tape to be unprotected. He told me it would cost between $35 and $50 PER ITEM of furniture for the "tape materials fee." He also informed me that though I had agreed to an hourly rate for the move, packing services were changed at a higher rate, so I would have to pay the higher rate for that time.

I called the office number provided and spoke to [redacted], and asked to have them bring the correct size truck at no additional charge. She said that wasn't possible, but if I didn't want to do the number of trips necessary that day, they could come back the next day and finish the job. For additional cost, of course. She also informed me that if I wanted to cancel after the 2 ludicrous bait and switch attempts, they would keep the $100 deposit I had paid for the move, as well as charge my credit card a $100 cancellation fee, which they did almost immediately. She offered me a 5% discount on the labor charges, which wouldn't even have accounted for the extra time in [redacted]'s rush hour traffic due to their failure to come on time.

I informed [redacted] that I would dispute any transactions that BR Movers attempted to process on my credit card. She laughed at me and said "go ahead and try."

This company charged my card without authorization, was unable to provide the promised services at the promised times, twice tried illegal bait and switch tactics to get me to pay a higher price, and then retaliated by stealing more money from me as a cancellation fee when it was their inability to provide what they promised that caused them to cancel, not my actions.

In addition to filing this complaint, I have filed complaints with the Maryland and DC Attorneys General, credit card companies, and the US Department of Transportation. If you need any additional information, please let me know.

I have reached out to the company via phone several times to resolve this and been treated rudely and hung up on multiple times.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of the money they have stolen from me, as well as a written apology and a copy of their new "no bait and switch" training that they will provide to all of their staff to avoid this sort of unethical and illegal behaviour in the future.

Review: Hired them for a cross country move from dc to ca. They ([redacted]) quoted me less than $900 and we end up paying about $4000.First, the pick up window was from 10-12pm. No one showed up until around 1pm. There was no way for me to contact anyone! The driver called after 12pm and said he was on his way and would be there in 20 minutes and ended up being twice as long. I was pissed needless to say because I had a flight that afternoon back to la. Second, upon their late arrival they said many if my boxes were not packaged appropriately--which some where not--but even the boxes I had packed and taped they used more tape on and materials added a significant fee. Third, a man moving several boxes using a cart dropped one if my boxes from the top of a 4 or 5 stack and said nothing as I watched. Fourth, I had left two emails regarding the piss poor service at pick up and no one responded. Fifth, upon delivery there was a hole punched in the back of my bookcase which I noted in the contract and the driver also told them and nothing has been done.Desired Settlement: Just a replacement for my bookcase would be nice.

Review: BR movers was requested to move my property from [redacted] MD to [redacted] TX. The pick up of my items was made on 7/30/2014 and my requested delivery date was 8/5/2014. I understand that things happen and delays are part of this type of transaction, but I have called them 3 times since the 8/5 date only to get no response on the first call and "the truck is delayed on the second and third calls. The third call became heated when I mentioned that I would expect some sort of discount for their lack of service and communications. The representative was extremely rude and I finally just hung up. I have yet to get a firm date or a soft date on my properties delivery. The contract is very vague and provides the company far to much flexibility and little accountability. After digging a little deeper I have found other complaints about the company's lack of customer service or accountability. My hope is to get the word out on this company and to finally receive my property in a timely matter. Not when they want to deliver it. I have reviewed the bill of lasing and it does say "may taken up to 21 business days for delivery". However, the first date available on the front of the contract doesn't state a date. It has 3-21. Which I'm guessing is days, it doesn't state actual days or business days and doesn't disclose from pick up or requested delivery. Section 7 titled Agreed Pickup and Delivery schedule, is an optional service which I exercised by in writing and verbally with the mover. It does say any verbal agreements are estimates bit due to the requested written date I would like the company to honor that as closely as possible which they are not doing presently.Desired Settlement: I'm seeking the $30 per penalty listed in their contact for no delivery by the agreed upon date of 8/5.

Review: My decision to hire BR movers was based on an estimate of $400.50 for 11 items to be moved. The estimate provided by BR Movers clearly states "this quote includes ALL transportation costs, 9% fuel surcharge and mileage." At the end of service, I was charged additional fees for fuel and mileage ($273.83) as well as $150 for an item (bar) that was previously listed on the estimate but movers said they should have charged more since it was a "bulky" item. Estimate was for 3 hours and actual service/time was 4 hours. Final charges were $1064.50. $400.50 as an estimate is FAR from $1064.50 even for 1 extra hour. I feel I was conned into believing that the estimate was somewhat accurate when in fact it was not even close to the actual cost. I provided all the relative and precise information prior to the move and the estimate that was given to me was misleading. In addition, the drivers cancelled on me on the scheduled move date and were 3 hours late on the day they rescheduled. And, DID NOT assemble 2 items upon delivery (contract states "reassembly is included"). My vanity mirror/dresser was left in 2 pieces and our armoire was not screwed together. [redacted], as nice and polite as he was, spent most of his time talking to us about his family, career and education instead of assiting the other 2 men. I feel this extended the move time and believe it was done on purpose to extend the move time. "Contract" is also contradictory in several areas, for example: it reads "All packing materials and supplies are included in the hourly rate"...Then right after that it reads "Please note packing materials (boxes, paper, tape, mattress cover, shrink wrap, bubble wrap, etc) are NOT included and will be charged as used on your move per item used."Desired Settlement: I have tried to reason with the vendor but they refuse to provide a refund. I want a refund in the amount of $423.83 which was charged to me for fuel/mileage and a bulky item that was not disclosed in the estimate.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

Estimate was NOT provided on the phone, estimate was provided in writting via email (attached). I did not "forget" the estimate was for 3hrs labor, 1.5hrs travel, it is clearly on the estimate. Acutal move time was "enhanced" by the foreman, [redacted], talking about work, school and personal issues. I did not dispute the cost of the materials. My complaint was that the contract reads "all packing materials are included", then also reads "packing materials are extra". Which one is it? Are they included or not?! No additional services were required for my move. I informed BR Movers prior to the move that I had a large bar and I provided the dimensions (attached). NO ONE said this would be extra until the movers moved it. Movers did NOT move WAY more than 11 items, they moved 13 items. 2 items that are listed on the inventory sheet were NOT moved (2 bookcases) per our request. [redacted], the "foreman" had told us the cost of the move was going to be over $800 so we told them not to move the bookcases as we did not want the price to continue to increase. Movers left dresser/mirror and armoire disassembled (attached). Offered to come back to reassemble but we declined due to negative experience. I have not lied about anything in this complaint. Movers cancelled on original move date and were 3 hours late on the day of the move. After a long, tiring night and into the 11pm hour, I read all terms and conditions, however, the pricing is open-ended and allows the vendor to charge at will...therefore, rendering the "estimate" usless. You cannot compare $400.50 to $1064.02 in an "estimate" as it IS misleading on a grand margin.
