Braaten Plumbing, Inc. Reviews (3)

I had a phone call from [redacted] and he asked for an estimate over the phone on about what it would cost to have his water heater replaced and to move a laundry drain.  I told him the average water heater installs were running $950-$1000 and how he explained the laundry piping I estimated...

around $300.  When the guys go on site there had to be more work done than stated in the phone conversation.  We had to replace some venting above the heater along with some copper piping, and there was more to the quick laundry re pipe than stated as well.  This was a verbal estimate over the phone without looking at the job first hand, not a written quote.  When Thomas received his bill he called me with threats of slander and was gonna contact Revdex.com, state, and city plumbing boards if I did not reduce my bill.  I did tell him there was a mix up on the bill and removed the charges for sewer cleaning, he wanted more taken off. I cannot just settle on a price when we used more material and had more labor on the job.

I am rejecting this response because: I reject this non answer from Braaten. As you see above Braaten says he will take off the Drain cleaning but does not address the face that two of his employees charged me for extra hours. Ryan W. charged me for 5 hours.Ryan R. charged me for 4 hours. They were only in my home for 3.5 hours. Clearly they have been using this mark-up scam on other customers but it wont fly with me.The original bill was $1754.11If you minus $225.00 for the drains. Then take off the extra hours I was charged.Ryan W. 1.5 = $145.00Ryan R. .5 = $30.00   Then the bill should have been $1353.11 Braaten says in their response that they have taken off the $225.00 for the drains how about taking off the extra hours they tacked on to the bill? As for their claim that I slander them it is not true. I recorded all phone calls. I did contact the North Dakota Plumbers Association and also the City of Williston to see if there was an ethic committee here in Williston. It is simple first grade math. Take off the overcharged hours, Minus the drains and you get $1353.11. I am also asking for an additional $100.00 off for all the headache and aggravation that Braaten has cause me bringing the bill to $1253.11. When businesses cheat customers in such a abhorrent and disgusting way they need to be held accountable. Braaten should be ashamed for even letting this matter go this far. I would hope that the Revdex.com will see that their actions are deplorable and I will not allow them to cheat me.

The bill is correct, and as company policy we do not accept just whatever the customer is willing to pay us.  We bill hourly and for materials used. This was a verbal over the phone ESTIMATE based on customers description, not a QUOTE.  If it would help [redacted] out we can set up a payment schedule.  I understand sometimes people have plumbing emergencies that come up like a failed water heater. Most people let me know ahead of time that they are going through hard times, and we will let them make payments.  I would be willing to accept [redacted]'s invoice in 3 installments and he won't have to worry about finance charges.
