I am rejecting this response because:
...his response is littered with lies I was happy with the original plan, quote, and materials As he progressed into actual implementation, his true work ethic became apparent He would arrive late, work for an hour or so, take a long lunch, come back only to work another minto an hour more He was entering into his 6th week on a week project I expressed my concern for both pace and implementation throughout the project I mentioned, many times, my concern for the pavers not being lined up straight He had the audacity to tell me, "I thought I could get away with that." I mean it looked like a 3rd grade class came in for a day project I also inquired about the sand foundation not having decomposed granite mixed in for support I was sure this was not stable enough He brushed it off with some double talk and told me not to worry about itthat he'd be back to fix it in weeksweeks!! Sure enough, it started to sag and "sway" even before cars were driven on it Now that cars are parked there, it is crumbling and is just sad lookingWith that said, I was very patient and diplomatic towards him I was not at all confrontational, nor did I use colorful language with him In retrospect, I wish I had! It was not until he, out of I assume pure laziness, told me he wasn't coming back that I said, "His work was that of an amateur and unacceptable He still wanted to be paid, minus $200....on a $7,job The nerve of this guy! I'm out thousands on labor that needs to be torn out and done over from scratch.....the right way He is the laziest, most immoral person I've ever had the displeasure of working with I was very patient for weeks and weeks, and did not micromanage....until he became pissy and unpleasant Hate that it ended this way, but he's a wolf in sheep's clothing....an amateur posing as a pro This is why I can't accept his response

Mr [redacted] complaint uses a bit of sleight-of-hand and misdirection.  I did indeed contract and build a paver pad and paver driveway for him.  The first was built with standard 4 x 8 Holland pavers.  The second with 16 x 24 lattice pavers.  During the construction and up to the...

last day, when I presented him with the bill, he was satisfied with everything I did, many times complementing me of my work.  On my last day there he expressed some concerns about the level of some pavers around one side of the paver pad and he wasn't happy about the curve of the pavers along the longest side of the lattice pavers.  I told him I could and would reset and relevel the pavers where needed.  I asked him how he wanted the curved lattice pavers done and he couldn't tell me, just that he was unhappy about how they looked.  Without any input from him on that I wasn't sure what I could do.  The final bill to him was for $1460.  He wrote me a check for $600 and I told him I would be back to redo what needed to be redone.  About 30 - 45 minutes later he called me and was now very agitated and upset about the project; however he was still unable to tell me how to improve the lattice pavers.  This went on for several minutes and while he was complaining I realized there was going to be no happy resolution.  I could spend several more days working on the job and he would still find fault.  So I told him I couldn't work for him anymore.  That he still owed me $860 on the job, but since I wouldn't be back to finish I would credit him back $260 for the undone portion and he only owed me another $600.  I estimated the final finishing would take about a day.  Since then he has called me many times.  At first I took his calls, but during those conversations he insulted me and my work and used quite a few profanities.  I pretty much ignore him now.  I am realistic enough to know my opinion about my work and someone else's may not always agree.  And I was willing to work with Mr Utter on his issues, however when he couldn't specify what he wanted done, he just wanted something done, I knew he would be quite willing for me to waste a lot of my time just to satisfy he quest for something else.
