Bradtke Antique Movers, Inc - J. Reviews (3)

Our company has worked hand in hand with *** Furniture Conservators for over years restoring antiques and making repairs as needed. Dan is a respectable man and I believe him when he tells me he reached out to your family to speak about the restoration process. The number for *** Furniture Conservators is ###-###-####. This is not the first time I have given this information to Mrs *** or her son Tod to pass along. It still stands that Bradtke Movers has gone above and beyond to repair this table. If Mrs*** has concerns with the finish of the table, please have those concerns brought to the attention of Dan at ###-###-####. He will be able to answer her questions more thoroughly

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:[redacted] furniture did not call me at all. I am a totally compulsive person and always return calls especially something that is this important. the table top does not match and looks very fake. It looks like plastic and does not match the table and its quality. I am not satisfied with the quality of the work and think the scratches should have been removed rather than placing another top on it. This table has special significance to me as it has been given to me by my beloved and adored grandfather 30 years ago. It has been in the family for years prior to that and I think it is disrespectful and dishonest to try to deceive me that real carpentry has been done. This is a [redacted] antique table and it should have been treated to preserve its quality and specialness. I have eyes and can see this is a shoddy attempt to cover the scratches rather than fixing them. I am insulted that you would attempt to pass this off as workmanship.
Sincerely,
Renee [redacted]

Greetings, Our company has contracted with a furniture restoration conservationist company named [redacted] Furniture to repair the items in question.  The furniture was transported at no cost to the customer to and from [redacted] for repair work.  [redacted] Furniture did not use a plastic...

cover to finish the table.  I am not a professional furniture restorer, but the process as explained to me is as follows: - Color match previous finish of the table- Strip old finish off completely- Steam table to expand wood in order to buff out scratches without need to add additional wood to table surface. - Sand top to create a fresh, original surface for the table top- Stain wood using previously matched color- Polish and finishing touches to table to restore to original look The entire process takes approximately 6 weeks from start to finish to completely restore the table and finish.  The table was returned to Mrs. [redacted] and our company took care of all repair costs, aproximately $2080.   Mrs. [redacted] contacted our location once more to ask about the finish of the table, I informed her I would be having the restoration people at [redacted] Furniture contact her to go over their process.  Her claim that a plastic veneer was placed on the table is incorrect.   [redacted] Furniture attempted to reach out to Mrs. [redacted] no less than three times between July 6th and July 12th to explain the process and why their table looks new.   On October 5th, Mrs. [redacted] son Todd called to inquire about the table once again.  I informed him that we had been in contact with his parents and they had not followed up with [redacted] Furniture so they could explain the process of repairing their table.   Bradtke Movers has done everything in our power to ensure that we are treating our customer with respect and dignity.  At every point, we have reached out to Mrs. [redacted] in order to address her claims and issues up to and including a full repair of her affected pieces.  Mrs. [redacted] has shown us that she is not willing to speak with [redacted] Furniture regarding the repairs of her table by not returning messages nor answering calls sent directly from the owner of [redacted] Furniture.   Additionally, the move was completed and additional insurance was not elected by the [redacted] family.  Under state tariff law, our maximum liability for any damages to items is limited to $.30/lb per item.  For a table such as this, our legal liability is only limited to about $30.  I believe we have gone above and beyond our legal requirements to ensure our commitment to our clients.  -Bradkte Movers
