On Tue, Apr 7, 2015 at 1:10 AM, [redacted] <[redacted]> wrote:Ms. [redacted],After the subpar job Braendel Painting did on our house and the repairs done to the roof, I tried to contact [redacted] in the beginning of December.  I called the [redacted] number and spoke with his secretary both times, who told me she would forward my message.  The first call was made the first week and I asked for [redacted] to call and set up an appointment to talk and come down and examine the mess his crew made in the house.  I did not get a reply for a week, and made a call in the second week of December.  I was informed by the secretary that Mr. [redacted] would not be able to get back to us or come to our house until the first week in January.  This was not satisfactory, but we were given no choice.  We were never contacted the first week in January.  I called the beginning of the second week in January and we were told that [redacted] would get a hold of us by the end of the day or the next day.  Once again, no reply was made.  I called the beginning of the second week and we got a call from one of the crew members who made the mess.  I told him we were expecting a response and a visit by [redacted].  He said [redacted] told him to handle it.  I told him I did not want to discuss this with a worker, I wanted [redacted] to deal with this and told him I wanted [redacted] to call and set up a time to come to the house.  I did one more call at the beginning of February, and once again, spoke to the secretary who said she would give him the message.  I got fed up with the lack of professionalism from Braendel painting and, on February 24th, contacted [redacted] who financed the last payment to Braendel Painting to see if they could help.  That same day, [redacted] arranged a 3-way call with myself and [redacted] Braendel.  He would not refund any money and refused to come down and look at the poor work done by his crew because I refused to have them do this work.  The guys he sent down had 30, 15 and 6 years experience in the company.  I could only imagine how worse it could have been with guys with lesser experience.Braendel Painting was supposed to primer the walls and put two coats of paint on.  There is a spot in our bedroom that they missed and clearly shows one coat of paint used.  Paint is peeling on the doors all ready.  In our dining room, they hid a spot that the paint either dripped badly or the failed to sand and patch the walls.  The story is the same for the ceiling in the living room.  Cracks are starting to show that they said they repaired (sanded and patched).  They were supposed to repair a room in my son's room that they just painted over, which really is all they did; cover everything with a coat of paint.  They did not remove two hooks in the living room wall that held a heavy mirror and make repairs.  On the roof outside, they were supposed to replace the drip edge and damaged shingle and reseal the roof line.  The roof looks the same and I cannot see any work they did on our roof.  I do not trust Braendel Painting to do any of the repair work.  They are like a cosmetic surgeon who botches a nose job and disfigures someone's face.  You don't go back and have him botch the job further.  I want compensated fairly or have my choice of a real professional to do the work to make this right and have them pay for it.  They did not do "100% clean up" as stated.  They didn't even bring any clean up utensils.  They actually grabbed our house vacuum and brooms to clean up what they did.  They did not clean up any splash on our woodwork, fireplace, fixtures or belongings.  [redacted] Braendel has never made and effort to contact us until I called [redacted], let alone the blatant lie that "on the four occasions we have tried to send the crew out to take care of the areas of concerns, we have been told no.  This behavior is consistent with the other complaint I read on your sight.  Sincerely,[redacted]

In response to Claim #[redacted], after meeting with Mr. and Mrs. [redacted], I will be willing to touch-up the bathroom and trim in one bedroom where peeling has occurred. However, removal of old paint from their trim and skim coating all imperfections out of the ceilings and walls was not included in the contract and therefore will not be done. I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] Service stated as performed in businesses response was what was contracted to be performed in original contract. Although the service has yet to be confirmed as I have been out of town, I do believe that this is what was done. The workman that was at my house that day was a very good representative for the business, he explained to me what he intended to do before I had to leave for a previous appointment, and it was just what was stated in the response from the business, although I don't think he mentioned the tar....  I am confident that the service performed will hold up much better then just glue applied under shingles the first time around. I am glad to see the statement that the work was completed as originally contracted. While I do not expect to find otherwise, when I get a chance to get up to the roof and check the work I will let you know if it has not been done as stated. As of now I accept it was completed as stated.

We reject Braendel's response to our complaint.  Braendel came down with a worker he wanted to complete the work, [redacted], to assess the damage.  We showed him all the woodwork that was splashed on because his workers did not tape off any of it and painted by hand/sight.  He told us this was old paint and he would not clean this up.  There closet doors in our bedroom that were not primed and painted with the correct paint and are peeling.  The bathroom has a similar situation with peeling and needs to be redone but he wants to touch it up.  We showed him where there are cracks already coming through and spots where paint was missed.  I told him it is obvious that only one coat of paint was put on.  His workers did not tape off anything and even the worker he brought acknowledged this and said he tapes everything off.  It was obvious that, according to the contract, there was not 100% coverage.  I pointed out areas that they were to scrape out damage and screw loose plaster tight, patch holes, cracks and damaged areas, as well as sand and smooth.  We started having cracks appear in the living room and dining room a week after they left the job.  There are open cracks in the hallway and upstairs that have been appearing.  You can see that all they did was paint over all of these cracks and did not prime/seal stains and patches as contracted for; instead they blobbed paint in some of the areas to cover it up.  They did not do any clean up and did not even bring there own tools to clean up any of the mess they made; my wife did a lot of the clean up they should have done.  Braendel did not bring a ladder to check the roof they were supposed to repair.  He looked at it from the yard and asked if it is leaking.  I had another company look at this job and a lot of this work will have to be redone.  They basically threw paint on the walls for $7,250 and I would like to amend my complaint to ask for the full amount back.[redacted]
