We took our car to this place to get a smog check, the car fail exhaust emissions test, the said we could either retire the car or replace the engine, We had them Replace the engine with a used engine for 2,100.00. When we took the car in the Air conditioner was working perfectly, when we got the car back the air conditioner wasn't working at all, and the car was full of trash left by the mechanics, then they wanted to charge us to fix the air conditioner. Joseph at the desk was rude and walked around with his pants down around his thighs. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

Review: The shop manager mislead me on what was wrong with vehicle, the time of completion and cost of the job. A 4 hour job turned into a 7 day ordeal. The shop also returned my vehicle with no radiator that had been damaged by a tool at the shop when replacing a part. My car over heated and needed to be towed back to their shop? The shop refused responsibility and said it was just a coencident that radiator failed. They paid for tow but I was charged the radiator. I had brought my car in for a oil leak orginally and the shop manager said it was the valve casket which was quoted at around 300.00 to fix and 4 hours to complete job. It took two days and then the car was returned to me in the evening and 5 miles later my radiator blew. The car was at the shop for another day but when returned the car was leaking worse than before I brought it for orginal leak. They claimed this could happen and they needed to investigate further. Two days later they were still trying to figure it out why the leak. They claimed there was too much oil for them to see where the leak was coming from? They tore my car apart and still two more days later they still didn't have an answer. They claimed that they were waiting on an answer from Audi and a part that was at another location 50 miles away. I had no choice but to believe what they were telling me and so I continued to wait for my car to be repaired? Another two days went by and still the vehicle was torn apart and no answer to when my car would be finished. I called the store general manager and he supposedly was involved with figuring out why it was taking so long. He still would not accept responsibility of the radiator nov would they help with my rental car. I am a single mom with a school age child and I felt very taken advantage of. The cost went from 300 to 1100 which is unacceptable but I had no choice but to pay. I had no other way to pay them except to use their financing which has a 150 percent interest charge. I now have to pay 163 dollars for the next 12 msDesired Settlement: I would like the shop to take responsibility for the radiator damaged cost 200 the rental car cost at lest half which was 300 plus the balance of the high financing I was forced into by having my car torn apart and not being able to pay the 800 dollar difference in original quoted cost.

Response:

Dear

Revdex.com,

This

letter is in reference to your request for a response to a complaint submitted

against Brake Stop & Auto Repair.

The complaint was submitted by [redacted] on April 13, 2013,

complaint ID [redacted]

The

vehicle in question (2006 Audi, odometer 151,710) was brought in on 1/12/2013

for a valve cover gasket and the work was performed without any incidence. Had

the shop damaged the radiator during the work for the valve cover gasket, we

would have no problem replacing the radiator free of charge. However, we did

not damage her radiator as she has stated.

When the vehicle was brought back and after we cleaned the engine there

was a leak coming from the front cam and crank seal in the area of the timing

belt. Please note, this is not related to the previous valve cover gasket

performed on 1/12/2013. The vehicle did

remain in our shop longer than anticipated as we tried to further diagnose the

leak. However, during the time the

vehicle was in the shop the customer was offered a loaner vehicle, but she

refused every time. The work performed was extensive, but not unusual given the

condition of the vehicle, 2006 Audi with over 150k miles.

We

regret that the customer feels mislead, we certainly did not intend for the

vehicle to remain in our shop for that period of time nor did we anticipate the

cost to increase in repairing the vehicle.

All service performed was documented and all estimates were discussed

prior to her signing.

We will

offer a refund of $200 to compensate for her troubles. She can contact the office manager, Joe or

Richard at 760-510-0000. However, we do

not feel we need to reimburse her for car rental expense since we did offer a

loaner vehicle and she refused and the finance expenses since the finance is

offered by a third party administrator not Brake Stop & Auto Repair.

We hope

this response is sufficient to close this matter. We ask that you please

forward this to the client. If there are

any questions please feel free to contact us.

Respectfully,

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is less than satisfactory to me. I want to state that the radiator was damaged by the shop and have the radiator in my possession. The raidator cleary shows a tool caused the radiator to fail and it was not just a fluke that the same day I picked up my vheicle the radiator failed. I had never experienced any problems with my radiator up to this day. I will accept the $200.00 on the basis that the radiator cost me that much and the shop had covered the cost of tow. In the end they have paid for the radiatior. This part I am satisified.

I am asking for $100.00 less than half of the rental car to be paid on the basis I felt that the rental car was my only option. The so called loaner vehicle was a personal vehicle of someone at the shop. It had a front license plate that was put in the windshield, torn and damaged driver and passenger seat, a dirty used car seat, paint that was peeling and discolored. I wasn't even sure if it was safe to drive. I was not comfortable putting myself or my child in that vehicle due to safety concerns and legal concerns. The fact that there was no professional rental agreemet or loan paperwork offered, I declined the loaner vehcile. I was told at that point it was only going to be one day longer at the shop. My car was not ready the next business day. It was 10 days after they told me one day longer. With each day the shop claimed my car was going to be ready by 5. I drove from Temecula to San marcos three seperate times and was told the car was not ready. I live in temecula 35 miles away and had to incure day care costs in addition to rental car cost. So I traveled 210 miles and time away from my child and cost of day care for the Monday car was not ready, Wednesday, Thursday and the following Saturday. On the 7th day a Friday afternoon the shop swore my car would be done on Saturday so I could turn my rental car in by 1:00 so I would not be charged the full weekend. The car was not ready. I did pickup my car the following Monday and was told by the shop they would not help me by Richard the shop manager. Again my hands were tied and I paid the reantal car 100% on my own. My compesation was an offer for a free oil change and 20% of any future work verbally not in writing. I found the offer unaccepatable since I would never allow the shop to work on my vehicle ever again which I am sure [redacted] the shop manager anticipated.

I will contact the shop and pickup the two hundred dollars for the radiator. It is up to the Revdex.com if they feel that my complaint has been addressed. I do hope that it is posted that Brake Stop is not a shop worth entrusting your vehicle too.
