Repairs were made to my vehicle that I did not consent to or authorize and I was required to pay them without any compensation. I went in to get a simple oil change and was told that there were about three other things wrong with my car which was amazingly running great prior to this visit. My boyfriend and I both stated we did not want anything besides the oil change. When we received our bill, all of the above repairs had been made which we did not consent to. When this point was argued to business personnel, they stated that we did consent to the work and that there must be some type of miscommunication. However, no type of compensation was given to us. After we left, I wrote a review of my experience on the company's [redacted] page. The company then messaged me on my personal [redacted] account asking me to remove my complaint. After five minutes and I had not removed the complaint, the company called me on my cell phone to try and get me to remove the complaint. At this point, I deleted the complaint because I felt harassed. However, I do not want other people to have this horrible experience. Desired SettlementI honestly would like some type of compensation for the repairs. The amount I paid was $260 when I went in expecting to pay $25. I did not authorize this work on my vehicle and I even stated that I did not have the money to complete those repairs at the moment. I believe that some type of compensation should have been given to me at the register when it was stated that we did not agree to those repairs. Also, this business was out of hand when they contacted me personally attempting to get me to remove a bad review from their [redacted] page. Business Response On 2-10-16, [redacted] was accompanied by a gentleman into our shop and requested a basic oil change. As a courtesy, we performed a vehicle inspection. Our lead tech found that the valve cover gaskets were leaking motor oil. The tech informed Ms. [redacted] of the issue and brought the man into the shop to show him the leak. The customer was advised to replace the valve cover gaskets due to the leak and also to replace the spark plugs since they had to be removed in order to replace the gasket. (In the long run this would save the customer money)Thus far, only the inspection has been performed. Once the tech prepared an estimate, he presented it to Ms. [redacted] and her friend. Ms. [redacted] stated that she did not have the money to perform the work to her car, however, the friend whom was with her said that he would take responsibility for the work needed on the Toyota Camry resulting in a total of $266.70. With that being said, our technician replaced the valve cover gasket, changed the oil, and replaced the spark plugs. Upon check-out, there did not seem to be any miscommunication. The services were paid in full via debit card by [redacted]'s friend that authorized the repairs. Hours later, our company received a very negative review from [redacted] stating that she was not satisfied with her experience at Brake Zone. Ms. [redacted] stated that no one authorized the repairs for her vehicle and also that she did not believe that the services were even performed. In our defense, the services were authorized and work was completed within reasonable time. We were upset to hear that one of our returning customers was not satisfied, so we tried to reach out to [redacted] by [redacted] and phone. We expressed to her our deepest apologies and also that we wanted to make things right with her. We offered to refund the cost of the spark plugs and 3 free oil changes. She did not agree that the compensation we were offering was fair. The statement that Brake Zone made regarding the fact that they offered me compensation is completely false. I can provide phone records which show that while Brake Zone did originally contact me, they did not follow up with me after this original contact. If this business would let me know the steps that I need to take in order to receive compensation then I would gladly do that. However, I do not want this case to be closed until I have received this compensation as I do not trust this business. Final Business Response In regards to case # XXXXXXXX Ms. [redacted] we would like to refund her cost of the spark plugs in the amount of $98.28 with tax included for her cost of repairs and also provide her with three free basic oil changes up to 5 QT's of oil on her behalf for customer service satisfaction. we also would like to continue to do business with Ms. [redacted] in the future. This is our position and would like to keep all lines of commutation open with our customers and be fair.
