Branch Toyota Reviews (2)

Review: In the end of March 2013, I leased a new Rav 4 from Branch Toyota after turning in my previous lease. At that time I turned in the key from the previous vehicle (smart key), paid them $428.80 and asked them if they wanted the back cover. They said no and that we were all square. Subsequently, I received a bil from Toyota Financial services for $1,351.81 for the key, cover and excessive mileage. I wrote to Branch Toyota twice with no reposnse. I called Toyota financial servics who said that would waive the key charge - they did not and that the dealers 'lie' when I told them what they had said. Since then I have been harrassed by phone and mail. During this time, I have had a [redacted] and my husband has been critically ill with a [redacted], [redacted] a [redacted] and [redacted] so this has been a highly stressful time exacerbated by this issue. Branch Toyota keeps sending me requests about the 2013 that was totaled and just today called to ask if I would be returning to pick up my car after service when I waited for it and drove it out. They have some serious information issues. A friend had advised me not to use them for my leases and I disregarded them to my unhappiness.Desired Settlement: I would like Branch Toyota to wipe out the debt and restore my credit rating!

Review: On October 1st 2015 I brought in my 2004 [redacted] Sequoia in because my check engine light and vac lights had come on the previous evening. The service technician took my in my vehicle to run the diagnostics test, I was then informed by the service advisor Rose Elaina C[redacted] that my exhaust manifolds were cracked and that was the reason the check engine light was on, and need to be replaced. I left my vehicle there for a few days and was called on Tuesday October 6th that my vehicle was ready and I could pick it up. On their paperwork the diagnostic code of DTC PO420 stated the it was fixed and the codes had been cleared. Total cost of the repair I paid was $3209.67. The following day while I was driving my daughter to an appointment, the same lights went on again. I immediately called the dealership and was told to come back. Upon inspection of the service technicians, I was told by the same service advisor Rose, that I now needed a new catalytic converter which she verbally gave me a price of $4000, I was absolutely shocked. The same diagnostic code of PO420 had come again, the same code that less than 24hrs ago I had paid $3209.67 and said on their receipt was fixed and cleared. She told me that because my exhaust manifolds were leaking so much, they couldn't originally see the damage to the catalytic converter. I left the dealership in total disbelief. I decided to get a second opinion and took my vehicle to [redacted] Auto Center, where upon completion of their diagnostic testing the same PO420 code was coming again and was told that never before had an exhaust manifold been the cause of a PO420 code. After a thourough inspection, the reason for the code was a faulty oxygen sensor on bank side 1 of the engine. The total cost of the repair was $160.17, a big difference to what I had just paid at [redacted] and was being told. The technician at [redacted] Auto Center gave me print outs graphing the upstream to downstream oxygen sensors clearing showing the faulty one. After the new sensor was installed the technician test drove the vehicle and gave me a printout of the monitor readiness list and showed the repair solved the PO 420 code issue. I returned to [redacted] to speak with the general manager Matthew P[redacted] and brought in my supporting data showing all the graphs and printouts I had received from [redacted] Auto Center. I asked for my original exhaust manifolds back so I could have them inspected for the cracks they had originally said were the problem. They conveniently had disposed of them already. I asked if their [redacted] certified technicians ran the same type of diagnostics tests that the technician at [redacted] did and he said they did, so I asked to see the results and conveniently they had not printed them out. He offered to fix my vehicle for free all of a sudden. A repair that was quoted to me by Rose one day earlier for $4000 was now all of a sudden for free. Which by the way wasn't the problem and wouldn't have solved it anyway.

I believe that [redacted] deliberately took advantage of me by replacing a part that didn't need replacing. I didn't go in with an exhaust issue, I went in for a check engine light. They took advantage of the fact that I don't know a lot about the inner workings of a vehicle. They stole $3209.67 by replacing something that wasn't the cause of the problem and tried to steal another $4000 for a catalytic converter that doesn't need replacing either. What if I had gone along with them and had paid the $4000 and the light came again, then what? The personal there was aware that I have a child that is wheelchair bound and I depend on my vehicle to be able to transport her, the service advisor was well aware that was my main concern and used that fact to upsell jobs to increase her commission. Everybody knows you always pay a little more at the dealership, but I do so because I believed that these [redacted] certified trained technicians are suppose to be top notch, and I rely heavily on my vehicle, but this was an outright rip off. I have been a customer there for a long time and have had other repairs done there previously, who knows how much money they have stolen from me already.

I would like the amount of the last repair refunded to me. I have all the supporting data clearly showing the diagnosis code on the initial appointment, the paperwork stating it was fixed and cleared, and the paperwork showing the same code less than 24hrs later responsible for the check engine again. I also have the assessment from the technicians from [redacted] Auto Center showing the same code and the reason being the faulty oxygen sensor. I also have the paperwork showing the results after the faulty oxygen sensors was replaced.Desired Settlement: I would like for the amount of the repair to be refunded to me.
