From: [redacted] < [redacted] >Date: May 12, 2016 at 1:22:34 PM PDTTo: [redacted] < [redacted] > After providing advertising services for Mr. [redacted] for months, we began discussing the need to improve his website. We have extensive experience and have designed hundreds of custom websites for our clients nationwide. Mr. [redacted] stated that he was unable to afford the price of a full website. As a concession, we agreed to design a single page website and, since he was an existing customer in good standing, only charge $650 for the project. While attempting to fulfill this project, Mr. [redacted] was insistent in adding features to the landing page that were well beyond the scope and well beyond the amount paid. We accommodated many of these requests but it came to a point where we could no longer provide added services at no cost. The relationship became contentious. We delivered a finished project along with all source files to Mr. [redacted] . In fact, he made use of the website for several months. We considered this project closed in May of 2015 and had not heard from Mr. [redacted] until April of 2016 when he filed this complaint. Although we are not obligated to, we have elected to refund the $650 to Mr. [redacted] and wish him the very best. For the record, we would like to share an email from Mr. [redacted] where he admits to an “overreaction” and speaks highly of our firm. Received on 10/22/2014 “Everything has been explained to my satisfaction. I am taking a leap of faith with Brandfined. I received an immediate response from Grandt. He is a dynamic and dedicated professional. It is my pleasure to have Grandt and Scott and everyone at Brandefined update my business presence. I believe I overreacted. Anyway, receiving a late night response resolved everything. I have money in my account and we have an agreement. I apologize for all of the delays in the past three weeks while I was traveling with my daughter throughout the midwest. I returned home in lot of pain. I am mending quickly after seeing four different medical specialist in the last seven days.” From: [redacted] < [redacted] >Date: Fri, May 13, 2016 at 10:08 AMSubject: REFUND - [redacted] - [redacted] To: [redacted] < [redacted] >Cc: [email protected], [redacted] < [redacted] >, [redacted] < [redacted] >, [redacted] < [redacted] > [redacted] @ Brandefined Billing I had been checking my other credit card account. Our firm was contracted by this client to design and construct a semi-custom, self-administered, website. As defined, a self-administered site is one for which, once built, the client is responsible for hosting, on-going maintenance and IT support. The website that was constructed is
currently active and under the full administration of the client.See Link:***The source files can be found on our development server:***As to the specific claims of the client:*** did not launch on time. The site was delayed due to numerous issues regarding the client's inventory, as well as requested updates after having her team test the siteSeveral services were provided beyond the scope of the original projectThe client continued to want Brandefined to complete the project*** was delivered unfinishedBrandefined delivered a fully functional ecommerce website and launched it on the client's domain at ***.comThe website was then tested via live transactions using *** and credit cardThese payments went through without issue, inventory was adjusted, and customer/merchant invoices were received via emailBrandefined didn't include shipping modulesBrandefined did install shipping modules/plugins in order to automatically calculate shipping costs based on product and location, using the shipping providers' APIsThese plugins include: SYN Media WooCommerce USPS, WooCommerce UPS Shipping, and Woocommerce Advanced Shipping (to offer free shipping based on total cart amount)The client was instructed to link the plugins to her shipping providers by entering her shipping account information into her admin panelThere were many product details left out.Brandefined was contracted to design the look and build the technical solutions for the client's online storeIt is highly unrealistic to expect our firm to fully populate an online shopping cart with thousands of products. The client was instructed by our staff on how to administer the website. The client must be responsible for the accuracy and management of the store inventory. If there is confusion regarding this project, it is likely a result of our team going “above and beyond” by, at the clients request, performing development services that were above the scope of the original projectThis fact was even referenced in an email where the client acknowledging that we had provided multiple services that were not paid for. The filing of this dispute is likely a result of our refusal to provide continued IT services for free. For example, in our last correspondence, the client requested that we participate in a conference call with her point of sale vendor to try to integrate their service in to the website. We are not responsible for 3rd party integration of technology solutions nor has our firm been contracted to provide such support.Summary:Our team delivered a fully functional, self-administrated website that is currently active and under the control of the client. Once designed and constructed, ongoing maintenance and IT support is the responsibility of the client. If there is a dispute over charges, we would invite our client to file a charge back with her credit card company and we will participate in the arbitration process afforded through their consumer protection department

It would be our pleasure to issue you a refund Our firm produces over custom website yearly for clients nationwide

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:Through numerous phone calls prior to and during the project as well as emails, the developer assured me of what he would be doing and he did not perform.  He left the company and now it is my word against Brandefined's word, I suppose.  But I firmly believe they are off-base here on my project.  If they treat every customer like this, then they won't have any business.  And if they don't treat every customer like this, then that goes to show that they did me a dis-service after all.  Again and again, I have to stress that prior to signing with Brandefined, I expressed my concerns about my number of products (incidentally, I have around 800, not thousands).  I expressed concerns about how long it took me to get it done myself the first time.  I cautioned him over and over about this and was skeptical about their ability to turn this around.  If Scott had said "We are going to do you an ecommerce site but you will have to do your own shopping cart and shipping modules and you will have to load your own products" then I would NOT have signed with Brandefined.  Because I had already done that much work.  I already had it to that point.  Why would I want to do it again?Do all of their customers have to load their own products?  Do all customers have to hook up their own shopping carts and shipping modules?  I think if they expect their customers to do that, then why would a customer hire them?  They wouldn't - instead, they would go to a company that would do the complete package.  A customer doesn't hire a company to do a half job on a website.  A customer hires a turn-key solution.  And this is what Scott assured me I would have.Sincerely,[redacted]
