Washington, DC 20005-Dear Sirs,
You closed my complaint prematurelyI did not have an opportunity to reply within your restrictive day response periodI now respond with a request to re-open the complaint.I received the letter, dated January from Brandell's to the Revdex.comI shall address item in it, which is "Last concern from customer cost to repairOur counter personnel called Mr*** and gave him the estimate of cost to repair." This is totally incorrectThe only call I received from Brandell's informed me that the machine was fixed and ready to be picked upRecall that the machine had two basic problems:
dificulty in starting the motor and
the self propulsion was not working
When I received the call, I assumed both problems were fixedThe caller did not mention that, in fact, the propulsion problem was not fixedI showed up at Brandell's, paid the bill, and then discussed the nature of the repairsOnly then did I learn that the propulsion was not fixedI was told that the repair of the propulsion transmission was expensive, no amount was offeredHad I known earlier that the cost of repairing the propulsion unit was prohibitively expensive for an old machine, I would not have permitted any work to be done on it, at all, including fixing the motorThis is the crux of my complaintThe proper working of the self propulsion is critical to the operation of the machine; why would I accept the machine without both motor and propulsion functions being fixedIn fact, I abandoned the machine at Brandell's, it being worthless to me without working properlyMy claim is based solely on money being spent without my explicit approval based on a prior estimate of the costsThe $check from Brandell's that was included in the December letter is unsatisfactory.I will return the $check to Brandell's along with a copy of the essence of this communicationI will contact you by phone to see what further recourse I have in this matterYours truly,

Thank you for returning my call todayI am enclosing a copy of the letter that I sent to Mr*** along with his work order dated 12/8/The letter, along with a $check, was sent to Mr*** prior to receiving any notification from the Revdex.comThe mechanic and I
listened to what Mr*** had to sayThe mechanic and I spent an hour or two discussing how we could have done things betterAll of the work on the work order was performed and as I indicated in the letter to Mr***, in order to address any of the customers concerns the engine had to be working which translates into time and effort on the part of the mechanic.Customer concerns per work order:
Cleaning the carburetor and removing old gas is how you get the engine to workSo, addressing first concern, “over dozen pulls to start”Addressing second concern, check self-propel cableSelf-propel cable workingAddress third concern, self-propel cable may need adjustmentCable doesn’t need adjustingEngaged the self-propel cable and the actual transfer of power through the transmission to the wheels did not take placeDiagnosis: TransmissionLast concern from customer cost to repairOur counter personnel called Mr*** and gave him the estimate of cost to repairLastly, you’ll note that the Service Invoice for Mr*** shows a total of $and not $105, $of the invoice is shop supplies, and $is the Environmental Fee for disposal of gas and oil which leaves $70,which is hour of labor. As I had mentioned earlier, the mechanic and I discussed how we could have done things differentlyI think that we could have communicated our process better and that is what I wrote to Mr*** on my letter dated 12/9/I also sent him a check for $which meant that he was only charged one-half hour of laborSo in total, with the check that I sent, Mr*** only paid $plus taxSincerely
CAC***
