Dear Sirs,
You closed my complaint prematurely. I did not have an opportunity to reply within your restrictive 10 day response period. I now respond with a request to re-open the complaint.I received the letter, dated 8 January 2015 from Brandell's to the Revdex.com. I shall address item 5 in it, which is "Last concern from customer cost to repair. Our counter personnel called Mr. [redacted] and gave him the estimate of cost to repair." This is totally incorrect. The only call I received from Brandell's informed me that the machine was fixed and ready to be picked up.
Recall that the machine had two basic problems:
1. dificulty in starting the motor and
2. the self propulsion was not working.
When I received the call, I assumed both problems were fixed. The caller did not mention that, in fact, the propulsion problem was not fixed. I showed up at Brandell's, paid the bill, and then discussed the nature of the repairs. Only then did I learn that the propulsion was not fixed. I was told that the repair of the propulsion transmission was expensive, no amount was offered. Had I known earlier that the cost of repairing the propulsion unit was prohibitively expensive for an old machine, I would not have permitted any work to be done on it, at all, including fixing the motor. This is the crux of my complaint. The proper working of the self propulsion is critical to the operation of the machine; why would I accept the machine without both motor and propulsion functions being fixed. In fact, I abandoned the machine at Brandell's, it being worthless to me without working properly.
My claim is based solely on money being spent without my explicit approval based on a prior estimate of the costs. The $35 check from Brandell's that was included in the 9 December letter is unsatisfactory.I will return the $35 check to Brandell's along with a copy of the essence of this communication. I will contact you by phone to see what further recourse I have in this matter.
Yours truly,
[redacted]

Review: I took a 61 [redacted] lawnmower for repair in March 2010. A year went by and they didn"t call when I contacted them on countless occasions. They kept giving me the "run around". I then contacted the owner she kept telling me that in 15 years they haven't lost a lawnmower. Time went by so after 3 years one her employees told me on the phone that he had checked in two places where they keep their mowers that are being repaired, that my lawnmower was not there and that he would put together me a decent mower. I kept calling he kept giving me the run around about having problems with getting it running. I kept calling told him I would be seeking legal representation he went to work for another power equipment company. I contact the owner again she to told me contact her former employee. I do not have the contact information of her former employee and I should not have to contact him. As the owner of a company, she is liable for these issues. I trusted my equipment with her company, not her employees. You do not operate a business by ignoring problems. I have given this company too many chances to make this issue right.Desired Settlement: Return of my lawn mower in the same condition it was given to them, a replacement, or agreed compensation.
