I am rejecting this response because: Although I appreciate the response, the contracted company, Brandon Henderson construction, continues to fail to address the complaint and issue at handAgain, the contractor failed to inform the customer that the final bill would be vastly different than the initial bidThe contractor showed the extent of the damage and stated it was worse than he initially thought, however, at no point did he say it would take him longer to repair or that it would be considerably more for materials (the vast majority of the added costs was not secondary to materials, but secondary to labor)From the consumer perspective, how am I supposed to know that you are going to charge me double the bid? At some point, and early on, the company would have known the bid was considerably erroneous and has a responsibility to tell the customer so they can make an informed decision on how they would like to proceedThe company never discussed this with me, did part of the work and forced me to pay for work I did not consent toFor this, I am requesting a refundIt is not the customer's responsibility to pay extra if the contractor was unable to complete the work for the contracted price, and certainty not if the contractor worked slower than he anticipated resulting in extra hours towards the job

Prior to starting the job the customer asked for an estimate on the chimneyI agreed to help them on the chimney for the same hourly rate of $50/hour plus materials as quoted on estimate #1508, dated 5/15/2017. The customer wanted a ball park figure so I let her know it would likely be in the
range of $but I would be doing it for time and materialsOnce the chimney was open I asked the homeowner to take a look so she would know how bad the rotten wood wasKnowing that they were concerned with money and that they had a father who could help, I asked if they would like me to stop and allow him to finish the remaining work to save some hoursThe next morning, they let me know they wanted their father to finish the project. That day I offered to order, pick up and deliver the siding they would need to finish the chimney, at no costMrs*** called me later saying that the bill was much more than they had expected. I assured her I had kept all the receipts and had kept track of the hours workedI then received a call from Mr*** and explained the situation to him. He let me know he was very happy with the work we didHe wanted a discount and I was not willing to negotiate, as this was what was on the written estimate and what I had discussed with his wife the first day on the job. At this time he threatened me that if I did not lower my bill, he would post negative things on Angie's List and the Revdex.com websiteI agreed to give him a reduction in the hourly cost to $45/hourHe didn't agree to the terms and said I should call him back when my number was lessI wanted to do what I could to resolve the situation, I let him know I would extend the discount to $40/hourHe decided to accept that agreement

I verbally expressed to you twice that the rotten wood would be time and materialsIt was also in writing on the estimateI have already compromised to reduce the final bill for you
