hi I am responding to complaint #*** for brauning automotive. I am sorry that Mrs*** had a problem with her vehicle in November, but we have no problem performing warranty work on any vehicle, but as we have it posted at our repair facility, all warranty work will be performed at our
facility. Mrs*** never contacted us in November when this occurred and decided to authorize repairs at another repair facilitywe have no financial obligation to this expense that she approvedin addition Mrs*** was informed and it was documented on the repair order that the fuel pump harness was previously damaged (burnt) and the manufacturer had discontinued that harness. she informed us that she would get that fixed later because she was pushed to get out of town as soon as possible. We have no proof or evidence that what happened to her vehicle was our responsibility, therefore I request this case to be closedthank you, MrB***

Mr. [redacted] stated that a refund was issued to the consumer for $[redacted].** on 12/6/2017 in the form of a check. The consumer should receive the check within a couple of days.

My service at Brauning was nothing short of perfect. The gentleman that manages the store, [redacted], was incredibly helpful and does a great job of detailing the problem my car had, why it happened, and how to prevent it in the future. Brauning went above and beyond to address my needs, and when I told [redacted] I would be walking back to the shop with my two children, he even arranged to have one of the guys from there to pick my kids and I up and bring us back to the shop. As a female, I always am weary of mechanics, but [redacted] took care of my needs and his guys did a wonderful job fixing my car. The level of service I got was second to none, the cost of repair was very affordable, and I will be bringing all of my vehicles to Brauning in the future.

Review: Previously allowed this place to do minor work on my car (inspection work) so they were VERY familiar with my vehicle. I went in and explained to them that I'll be driving across country for a new job and wanted to get a diagnosis on what I specifically needed repaired/tuned in order to have a safe drive. Asked if the "clutch" was fine and they said YES!. They looked at the car (didn't even put on a lift ramp) and told me in confidence that I would need the following work done to make it across country.... Fuel Induction Service, Steering Fluid Exchange, Brake Fluid Exchange, and new spark plugs wire set. So after 45 minutes worth of labor done, I'm billed $634.63, charging me $483.17 for 45 minutes worth of labor and $98.96 for spark plug set -ALL FOR CHANGING FLUIDS! In addition, they wait until AFTER the work was done to tell me that I needed a new clutch set, wheel bearing and oil seal, which is over $2000 worth of WORK!. All of this after they INITIALLY told me before they did the work that I WOULDN'T need a new clutch set. While disputing the charges, the two men who performed the labor hid in back to avoid discussing the job. Now I can't use the car to get across country to start my new job.Desired Settlement: I was charged $373.22 for 45 minutes of labor which is not the current rate for work done. One person was required for the labor job and they increasing my charges by placing two workers on the job which was not explained.

Response:

To whom it may concern, On 10/24/2013,[redacted] came to our facility to have an Annual VA State Inspection on hisvehicle, the vehicle failed for a burned out lamp bulb. During the inspection we observed somepreventative scheduled items that had not been performed. We recommended a fuel induction service, powersteering flush service and a brake fluid service. He declined the recommended services andasked us to just replace the bulb so the vehicle would pass inspection, he alsotold us that he would bring the vehicle back in to have the services performed. One year later on 10/16/2014, [redacted] returned to our facility for anotherannual VA State Inspection. We found another lamp bulb burned out and made recommendations for the same preventivemaintenance services. He again wanted us to fix the lamp bulb and declined the additional services but informed us thathe would schedule the services to be performed soon. On 11/21/2014 [redacted] returned to our facility requesting us to perform theprevious recommended services to his vehicle. He also mentioned that his engine has a funny idle and making a strangenoise. We asked if the vehicle has everbeen tuned up since we have no history on the vehicle, and he said no but wouldlike to know how much it would cost for the tune up in addition to the otherservices. He was given the estimate andapproved the repairs and informed us that he was going to walk over to the mallto do some shopping, so we told him that we will do all that we could do to getit done as soon as possible for him. We then decided to put two technicians on thejob performing the services which is a very common practice in the automotiveindustry. After the services had beencompleted the Sr. tech test drove the vehicle to clear the cleaning chemicalsout of the engine from the fuel induction service. He then noticed some slippage in the clutchin fifth gear and some wheel noise. TheSr. tech put the vehicle back up in the air to check the tires and brakes forany problems. He found that the frontwheel bearing was making some noise, so he recommended a front bearing and aclutch replacement to the service manager. The [redacted] then contacted [redacted] and provided an estimate. [redacted] was upset and informed us that hewould not have done the other services if he needed addition repairs. We told [redacted] that we did not performany diagnosis nor did we charge him for any. In order to try to work with [redacted] we discounted the bill down$170.00 for him consisting of, $139.95 brake fluid flush, $30.00 off customersatisfaction coupon and $10.00 of oil change service. The total that [redacted] paid was $518.78including tax, the original estimate for all the pre-approved services was over$700.00. The price would have been thesame if a single tech did the work or if multiple techs had performed theservices.[redacted] also speaks of tech’s hiding out in the shop? –No we have very strict corporate policy that Technicians and lube techs are notallowed in the front office at any time and for any reason. [redacted] also speaks about $373.22 of labor? – This is notjust labor charges; these are pre-set package pricing services consisting oftime and materials. I do feel bad that [redacted] vehicle needs additionalservices, but I did authorize the reduction of the bill of over $170.00already.We do charge $93.37 per labor hour for any and alldiagnostics or vehicle checkouts.
