BRD Development was supposed to be [redacted], aka [redacted]. This entity has so many names it is difficult to determine which one is legitimate. [redacted] is advertised as a code and regulatory compliant sidewalk repair contractor that could easily do both commercial and residential work. However, my overall experience with this company was less than satisfactory and at times, extremely frustrating. My ratings on different aspects of their service (out of a top score of 5):
Administrative – 2 – Staff was not very responsive to email and required multiple phone calls. Only the Business Manager was friendly and competent.
Sales/Estimating – 1 – The estimator/salesperson was extremely rude and unprofessional. He was late for appointments, aggressive and pushy, and intentionally unclear/vague on contractual details.
Quality of Work – 3 – Sidewalk was done to specifications. However, job was rushed, leaving messy caulking and insufficient time for concrete to cure. Workers left footprints and tread imprints.
Scheduling –2 – Lack of communication was major issue. Took almost 2 months between contract execution to start of job. NYC DOT has clear instructions on permit tracking system that admin staff failed to convey.
Construction Workers – 4 –Bright spot and strength for the company. Supervisor was experienced and friendly, answering questions we had. Workers were professional and hardworking.
Overall rating: 2.5 stars. Job was done to spec, but not without major delays, cost revisions, lack of transparency and poor customer service.
