It started well enough by a guy calling me an hour before arrival to confirm the mileage and rate per mile and the overage of miles not covered by my insurance. The insurance confirmed it was 16 miles to the mechanic from my home but this guy was telling me 20 miles. He said he was getting the mileage off of google maps and if I was seeing 16 miles to send him a screenshot of it. He was charging $8 per mile along with $32 fee for tolls and tax totaling $104; Cash only and two separate receipts will be given, one with the charges up to 12 miles covered by insurance and the other for the miles over. When I called him back and told him I had found a straight way to the expressway via Forest Hill Road and having the total miles be 16, as my insurance company had quoted, instead of his planned route of taking Richmond to Hylan to Father C. into Brooklyn, he started making excuses like: I can't have my guy go out of the way and Forest Hill Road doesn't allow tow trucks. I asked if I was stuck on Forest Hill Road, you're telling me you won't be able to come get me? He just kept repeating "I don't want my guy to go out of the way, 20 miles is confirmed, other companies will charge you $10 a mile." I cancelled the call and no longer wanted his service as something was just off. He screamed and told me to have a good life and hung up. Instead of keeping a customer and allowing me to show him the screenshot and straight path to the expressway, as he first suggested I could, he lied, lost his temper and showed his true colors. I called my insurance company and requested another vendor. New tow truck company arrived within the hour, charged me $4.50 per mile and acknowledge the 16 mile distance confirmed by my insurance company and myself. With tolls and tax, total was $54. Stay away from Breen Bros. They start of as nice and "informative" to hook you but clearly this guy was trying to make an extra $50! I don't mind paying for service; just hate it when people try to take advantage.

Review: On Monday Sept * at 10 pm my car broke down in Home Depot parking lot on [redacted]. I called Road America for a tow they sent Breen Brothers towing and my car was taken to Manfredi Jeep [redacted] .When the service tec .called me to tell me what was wrong with the Jeep I authorized the repairs. Then he toll me that the skid plate covering the gas tank was hanging from the bottom of the car. He told me the cost of repair would be 420.00 +tax I told him not to fix it . I then tried to reach Breen Brothers with no luck. When I call all I get is put on hold. I cant reach a owner or manager. I was present when the car was towed their was no damage done at the time of pick up. I was not there at the time of drop offDesired Settlement: I would like a check for the amount of 420.00 +tax So I can get the jeep repaired at the Jeep dealer.

Review: A Breen's Brothers tow truck towed my vehicle from a parking lot that I was parked in. I parked in the deli parking lot and went to the store next store to get pizza, unaware that it was illegal to park in this spot as a customer of the pizzeria. After getting pizza it was my intention to enter the deli to purchase milk and bread. Upon exiting the pizzeria, my car was towed by one of the Breen's Brothers tow trucks across the street.

When I approached the employee in the truck he refused to listen to my explanation. I apologized and tried to explain my reasoning and the fact that the sign was covered by branches and leaves, making it very difficult to see. He was extremely rude and disrespectful saying things like, " How can you be so stupid as to not see the sign - its clear as day and obvious. There are 50 spots in the other parking lot I don't know why everyone thinks they can park there. " When I tried to explain that it was my intention to go into the deli after the pizzeria, as well as ask him for paperwork confirming he was affiliated with the deli he refused to listen, stating " I don't want to hear it" and also stated that he did not have his paperwork to show this. He continued to talk over me, raising his voice and this made me feel extremely uncomfortable, which resulted in me going into the deli to get assistance from one of their employee's.

I asked the deli employee for paperwork to show their affiliation to the towing company and he also said he did not have the paperwork available. When returning to the tow truck with my fee which he insisted I pay, the deli employee stood next to me because I was very uncomfortable with the Breen's Brother's actions and comments.

When I asked the Breen's Brother's employee for his name, he refused to give me my name, stating " He did not have to give him his name and he doesn't have time for this [redacted] He slammed my car down off his tow truck and gave me my receipt. Again, I asked for his name, he refused.

Again, the sign was covered making it hard to see, I was intending on going into both the pizzeria and the deli so it was unlawful to tow my vehicle. I am also requesting confirmation that the deli and or the towing company has authorization to tow a vehicle from that parking lot as it is the law that a establishment or company must own the property in order to be authorized to tow a vehicle. I am requesting a refund as well as a formal complaint issued for this company with the Revdex.com.Desired Settlement: I am requesting refund as well as a formal complaint issued for this company with the Revdex.com.

Response:

Please see attached signed copy of authorization to tow from the premise of [redacted]. Unfortunately many patrons of the neighboring shopping center have taken advantage of the parking lot of [redacted]. Lack of space for their customers has forced the owners to tow unauthorized parked vehicles. We only towed the vehicle at the owners request. The towing rates for an impounded vehicle are governed by the [redacted] which are $136.00. It is unfortunate that her vehicle was towed however we are simply performing a service by request of a client. Any further questions please feel free to contact our office at ###-###-####
