I was recently a patient with this dental office. I set up the appointment for myself and my boyfriend. We each have different insurances. The dental hygienist advised me I needed to come back in 6 weeks for additional cleaning, and then every 4 months after that. She was trying to obviously obtain money out of pocket from me. To be clear, I have never needed more than 1-2 normal cleanings per year. I believe this is their way of scamming money out of patients. My boyfriend's appointment was after mine on the same day (4/18/2016). The dental office discussed my insurance policy and coverage with him, without my permission. (They made me sign a HIPPA form prior to being seen also, so I assume they know what HIPPA is). They also continued to tell him about my enamel and gum care. This is very unprofessional and illegal for the dental office to discuss patient care without permission. When I called to cancel my appointment, as I was not impressed with the seriousness of their practice, the receptionist then started to talk to me about my boyfriends health insurance and coverage. To note, the dental office failed to inform him that they were out of network and didn't disclose with this him prior to performing x-rays. Regardless, they should NOT have been talking to me about his insurance and policy and I did tell the receptionist that she should NOT be talking to me about his information. I believe they were scamming him as they know they only accept Delta Dental and he had Met Life. I don't appreciate that they broke HIPPA and talked to my boyfriend about my dental care and my health insurance coverage. I believe this complaint needs to be brought to their attention. They were obviously struggling as a business, but this does not excuse their actions and dental fraud.
