We were overcharged by $200+ for a transmission fluid flush. When I showed them the going rate versus what they charged, they did nothing.
I took my mini van to Car Care Central on *** in Plano on Friday, September 1, 2017. They charged me $403.51 on my Visa credit card for a transmission fluid flush. Invoice number ***. When I got home, my husband thought that sounded way too high, so he got on ***. You can enter your make, model, and year of car plus the repair you are needing to do, and it will show you the average prices for that repair. The transmission fluid change for my car, a 2011 Toyota Sienna 3.5L engine, should be between $162 and $241. Labor costs they estimated between $114 and $145, and parts are priced between $48 and $96. So on Saturday, September 2nd I took my receipt and the information my husband found on *** back to Care Care Central to have them explain the difference to me. I was polite and didn't demand a partial refund. I assumed they would do the right thing. At first Nicholas R, the gentleman that had helped me the day before, tried to tell me that the price range my husband found was for the smaller engine size of my car, and that I have a larger engine than that. He looked up my make and model, and found out that all the engine sizes are the same for that make, model and year. Then he gave me some other rhetoric, and did not offer a partial refund, nor a good explanation for the jacked up price they charged. So we paid about $200 more than we should have, with no good reason offered for the exorbitant price. I asked how much they charge for changing my spark plugs, and was quoted $600. Needless to say, I am not having Car Care Central do that work. Is there any chance of getting a partial refund? I don't mind paying them for services rendered. But I do mind paying $200 more than it should cost for that work.
I would like a partial refund of $200, which is the difference between Car Care Central's overcharging and the market rate for the work they did.
The pricing for the transmission service on Mrs. S's *** was not a basic transmission flush. The filter and transmission gasket were both changed due to mileage. I have attached the *** estimate for the same services that we performed and the cost is over $1200. The Drivers Edge provided exceptional value saving the customer over $800 and the work was done by an ASE certified technician. Other shops have to do the same thing to change transmission fluid, but do it for $200 cheaper on average. Car Care Central also quoted me $600 to change my spark plugs. I got that maintenance item done elsewhere for $250.00. I think other unsuspecting customers should be warned of their price gouging.
The Transmission Filter Service Performed on Mrs. S's Toyota was not a simple transmission service that most repair facilities quote. The transmission filter was replaced which alone costs $96 from Toyota. Most repair facilities are not set up to perform this service and will simply drain and fill the transmission for $200. Replacing the filter is the recommended service from Toyota and we did that at an extremely competitive price. The repair also comes with a 3yr/36,000 mile warranty which is the best warranty in the industry. We stand by our service and can provide multiple estimates that show we were less expensive than most when comparing apples to apples.
