Brian O'Carroll Reviews (1)

Review: I have been treated by Dr.O'Carroll who is practices at this office. I started seeing this Dr. last year. I owe this Dr. money and set up arrangements with the office manager to make 50.00 a month payments every month till the bill is paid in full. I am no longer private insurance I am on CentaCal. I had an appointment to see the Dr. tomorrow however, I got a call this morning from a M[redacted]a stating, " We will have to cancel your appointment for tomorrow unless you pay half of what you owe"!. I stated that I cannot and that I already agreed to pay $50.00 per month on my balance till paid in full. I was then told that," I could not see the Dr.! The balanced had to be half paid"! I explained to M[redacted]a that my husband is on Social Security and I am disabled and that all we can afford is $50.00 dollars per month. If I was to pay half of what I owed I would end up homeless as that is my rent! M[redacted]a went on to say," if you have any questions call the billing manager and speak with her"! I am not refusing to pay the Dr. I cannot walk without the treatments he gives.Desired Settlement: One should be allowed to make payments on bills that they owe. This is insane that I cannot make a monthly installment or payment on my balance that I owe.

I am rejecting this response because:

I was giving payment arrangements on my bill. I was told that I could still see the Dr. if payments were made. Which they were while I was actually able to get in to see him. The issue here was that once I was giving said arrangements I would have an appointment scheduled to see the Dr. I was always notified the day before said visit and was told that, " We are canceling your appointment for tomorrow unless the balance of your account was paid in full when you come in tomorrow for your appointment"! At that time of seeing the Dr. I was on State Disability. Although, I was given payment arrangements to pay said bill every appointment that I had with the Dr. the appointments that was made was canceled the day before unless I paid my account in full. I received a letter from the Dr. stating that, "I expressed dissatisfaction with our payment polices both to office staff and the Revdex.com". Now because I have done this the Dr. has refused to see me and referred me to another physician. I put trust in my Dr.'s who are taking care of my body as anyone should. I also trust the people who are operating the business side of it as well. For me this has become a nightmare as I have had to deal with a flip-flop office arrangements. This was not of my doing! I was not the one to set up said payment arrangements I just agreed to pay them!

Response:

As stated in our initial response, we ACKNOWLEDGE:

-the patient was offered a payment plan

-that plan was $50 per month

-we rescinded the offer of that plan, and instead required 1/2 payment of balance to continue to be seen

We DISPUTE that:

-Patient made all monthly payments of $50. She did not. She paid nothing in December and nothing in January.

-Patient's non-payment in December and January was due to us asking for 1/2 payment. We did not rescind her payment plan until late February when the biller made the office staff aware that she had missed payments. So her non-payment in those two months was not due to our actions, but due to her personal circumstances, as confirmed in a conversation with her husband a few weeks ago when he said they missed payments because of his work situation.

We feel the patient and her husband understand that payment needs to be made on her large balance. Obviously, there is a history of payments that are recorded which support why we have handled her account the way in which we have. She has every right to disagree with our policies. She also has every right to see another doctor to continue her treatments, which we feel is the best solution for her ongoing care.
