Initial Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2015/11/26) */
I was contacted by the owner. I met with him to look at chimney repair. I gave him two options. The first option was to completely repair the chimney which meant to tear it down to the roof top, cost $1,500. The second option was to just...

infill the holes with brick, cost $600. He chose to do the second option. He didn't choose first option because he said they had property taxes to pay. It was a one day job and after I finished the owner and I did a walk through and he was happy with the job, he paid me and said he would contact me next year to do option one. Owner did not call or text/email about any refunds but called me about doing another repair garage work.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 10, 2015/12/02) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I have a text from the contractor on September 19, stating that repair will be $ 500 dollars. Yes, it is true that the contractor gave me two estimates. I decided to exercise option #2 to fill in the bricks and repair holes. Unfortunately, for me and my family that shouldn't` translate into a lackluster job.
Here are following reasons that find it hard to accept the contractor response. Some of the information that he is providing isn`t true. As I stated above I have a text from the contractor stating that the estimate for the repair will be $ 500 dollars. Half upfront and the rest upon completion. I don`t have this in his text but his quote for the chimney repair roof down was $ 1000. The contractor statement about me having to pay property taxes is correct ,but it has nothing to do with the quality of his work and the discipline to respond to a paying consumer of his craft which are my concerns.
On Saturday September 19, the contractor started the work on my Chimney. I was out but received a call from my wife that the repairs have been completed. When I returned home to review the repairs. I ask the contractor why didn`t he fill in the bricks he said that would cost me an additional $100 dollars. Those comments alone should have put him on notice that I wasn`t please with the repair. This is when I should started connecting to dots. In to deep I promptly went to the bank which is around the corner for the new repair. When I returned Mr. [redacted] was already done. My desire at for a cosmetic fix at a minimal wasn`t met. The contractor completed this addition repair by putting concrete in the hole using no bricks, even worst there was still huge space the needed repair on the top.
My experience with the contractor is that he is misleading and blatantly dishonest on his deliverables to meet my consumer's desire. Unquestionably he took advantage of my family, took our money ($600), ran and wouldn`t return calls. My chimney looked absolutely awful, even worse, I found addition holes in the back of the chimney more evidence of a dismal performance on his part. It was a downright disappointment and I strongly believe he knew and felt from me. When negotiating him what I found promising and encouraging was his library and body of work of success the contractor had on past projects before I agreed to give him the job. This quality of work didn`t happen for me or my family.
The contractor is correct my garage was in need of repair and I was also interested in starting some other concreted related projects.
I called and scheduled a follow up appointment with the contractor for Oct 2, I explained to the contractor that I wanted the repair done right on my chimney making it right. He was a no show. I got the feeling that he was avoiding me and that he knew about the damage on the other side of my chimney that can`t wait. I am not saying that he`s responsible for any of these damages. So I decided to send him a text massage asking him what happen to our appointment. Days later I sent another Text Oct 10, asking him to call me. I never heard back from the contractor. I have copies of these texts. In addition to sending texts I called the contractor several times and left messages stating the above. He never returned any of my calls and failed to show up to agreed upon appointments that could have lead to a desirable outcome perhaps for both of us.
