Bricks Electronics Service and Repair Reviews (%countItem)

I had a new fishing vessel designed & built in Charleston oregon. Bricks electronics asked me to be involved in providing the electronics package & installation & the dc wiring of the boat. Saying he could cover all my desired electronic & 12 volt needs for less than the other bid provider. The short version is this didn’t happen. The components provided were not adequate or robust enough for needs, or as were promised. And the installation & setup were never completed. The majority of the installation that was done, was done wrong. Requiring much remedial work & replacement components. This work is ongoing. Unfortunately thru oversight/inatention & misplaced trust on my part, first bank & the builder. Bricks electronics was paid in full prior to completion of project. When his requests for more monies to finish were denied he abandoned the project. This put the launch of the vessel at a minimum of 2 weeks behind. Saying he would finish project when vessel came to Juneau never happened either. He came to the vessel twice once it got to Juneau. Leaving the vessels electronics more flawed & inoperable each visit. Texts & voicemails explaining ongoing problems with needs for remedial actions were never answered. Calls & texts went unreturned in May after abandonment there. All this led me to believe that my dealings with bricks electronics were over. Even though this was by far the worst financial & tradesman schlacking I’d taken in my 45 year professional career, I moved on. I started a dialogue with furuno corporate who have been very sympathetic to my circumstances. I’ve been assured I’m not the first one to have these complaints about bricks electronics. I’ve hired other marine electricians both in Oregon & Juneau. Other tradesmen & the builder in Oregon stepped up to replace & remediate the disaster the best they could. But then out of the blue on Christmas Eve, 6 months after bricks electronics abandoned my vessel I get a misspelled gibberish bill trying to extort money. Now two months later

This is in response to a complaint that was filed against Bricks Electronics Service and Repair on03/04/2020. ID.

*** owner of the F/V Persistence hired my business to outfit his new boat buildwith navigational electronics. The plans for this install started a year or so prior to the boat being builtwith estimates being given to him dated back to 12/05/2017.

Prior to the first trip I was led to believe the boat was soon to be ready for navigational install.

*** had mentioned the help from Bricks would be appreciated. Do to the prior vessel constructed atthis yard was viewed as a poor lay out of the finials on wire interface, and looking to get a moreprofessional accomplishment with nice lay out of his vessel needs.

Bricks had performed roughly 50 call out of service and sales of items around a 20 Plus, threw out thepast 25 years for Mr ***. Even up to last operations of a emergency Sunday call out first part OfDecember 2018 on his Vessel Patience.

On 01/05/19 I flew with Tim *** to Medford, Oregon and drove from there to Charleston, Oregon tobegin work at Tarheel Aluminum Marine. Upon arrival to the yard it was obvious that the vessel was notready for the electronics install as it was still being welded and retro-fitted. During the week of01/05/2019 to 01/17 /2019 I helped the layout of the mechanical application for navigationalequipment, wire runs, and transducers.

On 03/07 /19 I made my 2nd trip to Charleston OR. for the electronics install and again the boat was notready for electronics install. During this week I helped with the fabrication of wire looms, ran a few largeprimary wire runs, added tag rope, etc. At this time with welding going on it was unsafe to install thenavigational electronics. I flew back to Alaska on 03/14/19.

On 05/01/19 I made my third trip to the yard to install the electronics. At this time the boat interior wasstill being worked on. The boat was unfinished and was inside the metal shed and not ready for launch.

I installed the navigational electronics. I discussed with the wiring helper primary DC wire applicationsand was under the understanding that he would be working with me to help get this done. After the firstweek the helper got sick and never returned to the yard which left me to continue by myself with aid ofhis large crimpers. I spent 7 days working 12 hour days working with a final 24 hour day.

Prior to leaving I discussed with the yard areas that needed to be finalized for items that they provided.Prior to leaving the owner was verbally abusive and I was told to get off his boat. I flew back to Alaska.

I received only two phone calls while back in Juneau from helpers at the Boat Yard . Bricks was able to·lead the helper from yard over settings Bricks had tagged In installations for Few Items. Items thatneeded the main engine as well as in water set Up .

If Mr *** had been polite and offered to have me back south and apologized he could have sent medown when the vessel was ready to travel North .With no further contact from Tim tell the Juneau return. Bricks had also left a contact phone number with *** for Tee support at Camas Washington, And mentioned to one of the Furuno Support Technician Manil Men ,that Mr *** can call In for Help . When he is on water.Bricks checked in with Mr Manil ,and they did help Mr *** on few areas Of Operations.

Bricks noted the main Shift Morris cable to the reduction gear was not nutted as he had left at the yard .Over view of Bricks earlier work viewed all solid of interface and primary interconnections.

Again, boat owner was rude and aggressive towards me and I left the boat.

Desired Settlement: To be paid remaining balance owed of $8511.26 for parts and labor rendered

Sincerely,

I am rejecting this response because: this is redundant. Bricks electronics was paid for products not delivered & services not performed last April/May. He abanondoned the project at that time after failing to produce a list of components placed on the vessel & not installing them for the price agreed upon. The construction loan was closed on the vessel in June. Sending a misspelled, nonsensical, fictional billing 6 months later is flaky at best. Actually fraudulent. Bricks electronics has been supplied with my billing of $93,243 for lost fishing time, replacement components & labor.I would appreciate the check immediately.

Sincerely

I am rejecting this response because: as I’ve repeatedly stated.......all components agreed upon were not delivered, even though they were paid for. The installation was abanondoned by bricks electronics even though the agreed upon labor was paid in advance. Nothing was heard from bricks electronics after he abandoned the project until over six months after close of construction when he found out I was seeking relief from his shoddy work from furuno corporate. He now owes me $93,243 for lost fishing time, & remedial parts & service. He has my bill. There’s no need for anymore correspondence from him unless it’s a check made out to me for $93,243........as I’ve stated already.......this is getting wearisome. If nothing else the public should be protected from his predatory/extortionist business practices.

Sincerely
