Charged us to try on then charged cards before we committed to order; only 80% back due to employee fraud causing "refund" button to be removed.I first think it is poor practice to charge people to try clothes on. I also think it's poor practice when you charge such a fee that you ignore the customers the way they ignored us and basically hovered around us 10 minutes before closing time to make sure we were out so they could lock the doors behind us. We weren't sure about our order but left our information just in case we had a third person order the same dress to get a volume discount. When we went a different direction but found out that our order was processed anyway, we were at first told we could not get a refund. Finally, the owner agreed to all but 20% refunded, and her reason was because they had to pay the bank for processing charges. When I asked why they couldn't simply push the refund button, the owner told me they had to remove that feature from their machine because of prior employee fraud. When I said this was her issue and not mine and that the cost should not be passed along to potential customers, she disagreed. She thought I should be happy with getting 20% back, even though no dress had actually been ordered yet. She also refused to refund the try-on fee. When I told her all of this is poor customer service, she also disagreed. I stated that I was trying to give her the opportunity to somehow make this all right, and I gave her fair warning that I would be taking to the web, but she refused to budge. So, I am staying true to my word because I want others to know how we were treated and how ridiculous their practices are. There is no reason I should have paid $20 for a try-on fee and 20% for a dress that all I did was leave my measurements for, didn't actually order.Desired SettlementIf the owner feels compelled to make it right and refund the additional 20%, around $40, it will go a long way in directing my next step.Business Response When [redacted] came to our store, she was explained the store policies as we do with any customer who comes to our store.She understood and decided to proceed further to try dresses. She bought the Bridal Gown, made the payment and signed the paperwork saying that all sales are final. We have all those documents on record in file. Then she had an afterthought idea of not buying the gown. She was again explained the store policy that she already signed. Upon her request and keeping good customer service, we made an an exception for her. A refund was made as per her consent and approval. She accepted the refund check and cashed. We don't find any basis for her complaint.We feel sorry if inadvertently she felt hurt on anything. Bridal Boutique of NC Management
