Slab foundation settling and cracking. Fixing of slab is required.House built in 2007 moved in in October 2007 and everything was great. Of course you will have issues with a new build and things will get fixed over the first year or so. Slab cracked along with kitchen tile around 2008, contractor sent out subcontractor to remove tiles, fill slab crack with a bucket of what appeared to be grey epoxy like material. 2010 kitchen cracked again in same spot and dry wall started to crack diagonally from corners of molding. Master bedroom TV is over an inch lower on one side now because of the settling. These diagonal cracks all head in same direction thru the master bedroom into the master bath. There is so much pressure on that side of the house that it cracked the marble slab between my carpet and tile in the master bathroom. the ceiling is pulling away from the wall and the tub has developed a gap between tile and tub. I feel that it is the contractors not letting the slab settle long enough before building on it and not properly backfilling that corner of the house. A similar issue was addressed with the septic system settling and I was promptly told it is not their responsibility it was mine. I attempted to give the contractor / builder the chance to look at and fix issues but never did. Now they are out of business and only the relator is left to deal with. Wife of contractor!!! Big mistake! It has been less than 10 years so I feel it is their duty to fix the issues regardless of being out of business.Desired SettlementI am requesting that the house slab and footings be inspected and mudjacked or helical piers installed at contractors expense in order to fix door, floor, wall and slab cracks the proper way. All drywall, paint and landscaping returned to original condition after completion. This is the third house by this contractor that has experienced these issues, one was settled out of court and the other was repaired.
