Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital

I have a chronic condition with which I live in constant pain, and despite a bad financial situation and limited funds I followed up on the advice of a specialist and made an appointment with this doctor. Before the trip, I confirmed with the doctor's office and insurance company that I would only be charged a $40 copay for my visit (This in addition to lost wages and costs associated with taking a day off of work to put my vehicle on a ferry and drive 3 hours each way to attend this visit). The visit wasn't helpful despite my coming prepared with my diagnosis in hand, and I was only given a litany of additional tests, services and prescriptions to buy. I paid my $40, as well as an additional $55.45 in charges of dubious origin, paid $7 for parking and left. I bought the prescription which did nothing, and subsequently cancelled all the other stuff they wanted me to buy. Within a month, I received another additional bill, this time for $1,101.28 to be paid in full within 2 weeks for services performed at the doctor's office. I didn't sign off on any additional charges, nor was I even notified. I feel that this is a scam to prey on sick people who need help and get them on extended payment plans to repay fraudulent charges for meaningless or nonexistent care.
