Review: Businesses should act ethically and take ownership of mistakes that hurt consumers. Best Rank, Inc., a San Diego based search engine optimization company provided me with the worst customer experience I’ve ever received and it cost me financially. I’ve never filed a written complaint about a company before, but Best Rank, Inc. treated me so poorly I highly discourage anyone from using this company for their SEO needs.

Best Rank used my credit card to set up accounts with several vendors on my behalf. I asked for 1 year subscriptions and got confirmation from Best Rank that 1 year subscriptions would be set up on my behalf. Instead, they used my credit card to set up recurring annual payments that cost me a lot of money each year. When I confronted them about this they denied any wrongdoing. I provided them with written documentation regarding our agreement and they acted unethically and refused to take ownership for their mistake and wouldn’t offer a reimbursement. This mistake really hurt my company financially.

Additionally, when I asked for the account usernames and passwords they set up on my behalf, it took over 3 months for them to reply with this information and they weren’t even all correct. I couldn’t even access one of my accounts to cancel it myself.

Best Rank conveyed to me that they don’t care about my business, don’t value their consumers and will do anything to deny themselves of any errors they make. In my opinion, they lack ethics as a company and don’t act diligently with their consumers best interests in mind.

Mr. [redacted] has made several incorrect statements in his complaint. Best Rank did set-up annual directory submissions for Mr. [redacted]'s company. We do not control third party directories or their rules for renewal. All of the directories we set-up for him have automatic renewal policies. There are typically 2 different options with directories: 1-year option w/ automatic renewal or 2-3 year option, at a discounted rate, with automatic renewal. These are not our policies, but those of a third party. As part of our service (as a courtesy), we simply set-up these directories for our clients (using our client's name and credit card). We don't get paid for these directories...nor do we receive any of the directory fee. We set these directories up for him in Jan 2011. Mr. [redacted] cancelled his contract with Best Rank in June 2012. The charges in question happened in Jan 2013 (6 months after he cancelled his contract with Best Rank). Best Rank does not continue to offer monitoring services for clients who cancel their contracts with us. We set these directories up on Mr. [redacted]'s behalf; it is his responsibility to monitor those directories and cancel them if he sees fit...especially after he cancelled his agreement with us. He did not alert us to these unwanted charges until well after the third parties charged his credit card. At which point there's very little Best Rank can do. Had Mr. [redacted] alerted us to cancel these directories on his behalf, before they were to be charged again, then we would have gladly done so. Instead, he wants to come back and point the finger at us, 6-months after he cancelled our contract, and demand that we reimburse him for money that we did not receive...which is ridiculous.
