Brink Roofing Reviews (8)

On October 5, I paid half down and was told the job would be done in TWO WEEKS. My husband clarified and said, "So then we definitely expect it done by the end of the month." He was hesitantly told, "Yes."

On October 30, over THREE weeks later, I called to ask about the status of the job, was told that Kyle was unavailable and that we'd be called later that day. I was not called that day. My husband received a call the next morning saying that they would be doing the job THAT day. We gave notice to our renters to have the place cleared of cars, and they prepared the area. BRINK NEVER SHOWED. And they didn't show the next day. I'm not impressed. And it's sad because when I met with Kyle in his downtown office, he seemed very friendly and helpful. Communication is key, and he is failing hard.

The project was done during the winter. It was decided that we wouldn’t use the roofers buggy because the lawn was soft/wet and it would have caused damage. The husband agreed and we had a dumpster in the driveway instead.Everything they stated about the contract was explained during the estimate...

and they signed the contract stating everything that would be done. A tarp fell off the side of the house and made a mark on the siding. We cleaned off the mark, and we said if they are not satisfied with it, we can try a different cleaner or replace the siding. They said they could just clean it better themselves. We said that it’s a consumer’s right to leave honest reviews/opinions online, but asked that the untrue statements they made on Angie’s list be removed. I stated that leaving libelous statements online is illegal. They removed some of the untrue statements, but later added them back plus more. Now they are using untrue statements on Revdex.com in hopes that we will pay for their bathroom/attic mold remediation project. The complaint situation has been going on a very long time because they changed online review about 6 times. Removing untrue statements and later putting them back up.I have personally spoke with both family members. They even set an appointment online to speak to both of them. We did have that conversation during the time slot they chose. We spoke on 2 different occasions and had multiple visits to their home. The roof was installed correctly. Both homeowners actually got on the roof when it was done also. They inspected it but had a complaint about dust on the shingles from chimney work. It would rinse off with rain, but for immediate results we used a hose until they were satisfied. We inspect the attic/crawlspaces on every estimate unless the homeowner declines. We were told there was no access. We said we can look. Sometimes it’s a little square opening on the ceiling inside a closet. She said I don’t want an attic inspection. We could see the wood in one section. That wood was in great shape at the time we did the roof project. The wood was also in great shape when we tore off the shingles. An attic inspection is offered Free of charge over 800 times a year at every estimate and was offered to them as well. About 2/3 of our estimates agree to the attic inspection.2 different Brink Roofing inspectors went to inspect the mold issue in the attic after the roof was complete. They actually had access to the attic crawlspace which apparently they did not realize during the time of our estimate? Both Brink Roofing Inspectors found the same problem. The bathroom fan is vented up through a plastic tube into the attic/insulation area. The moisture from showers caused mold in the attic and on the underside of the wood. At the time of the roof installation the shingles were removed and the wood decking was in great shape. It showed no signs of mold or structural problems. It isn’t possible to know if there was mold in the attic during the time of installation or not.The bottom line is this is not a roof problem. The roof was done properly. This is a mold issue coming from the bathroom. They need to stop venting the attic moisture into the crawlspace immediately and hire the mold remediation expert to remove the mold in their crawlspace. We were not allowed inside during the time of our roof estimate. Brink Roofing will not pay for this Non-Roof related problem because we were not hired to do any work inside, and we only offer roof services.Brink Roofing stands behind it’s work and we have a Lifetime Workmanship Warranty. This family said they had a roof leak on one side of their garage. We could not find the leak, so we replaced one whole side of the garage for Free. So, we have proven we will back our warranty with this homeowner, but now they are trying to get us to pay for a mold issue above their house bathroom. It is not related to anything we were hired to do. It is a tricky situation because the homeowners are very aggressive, but we will not be bullied into paying for something that isn’t related to us. If they ever have problems with the work we actually did….. We will still provide warranty work just like we did on the garage.

Review: Brink Roofing staff provided misleading and deceptive advertising stating that a Roofer’s Buggy would be used to protect the landscaping. We selected them because of this advertising.

They used a "contract" that does not comply with the PA Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act (HICPA).

The Brink contract did NOT:

**include an approximate start and completion date for the project

**specify details of the work to be performed, the materials to be used and information about cost for any additional materials

**identify the current amount of insurance maintained at the time of signing the contract

**include the amount of liability coverage maintained by contractor

**include the toll-free number of the PA Bureau of Consumer Protection

**include a notice of the consumer’s right to rescind the contract

Brink did not provide a start date for the project until six weeks after our deposit was paid, and after our repeated contacts to the company to get a start date. Once work began, they did not use the roofer’s buggy as staff had promised. They did not protect a wall which was damaged by dropping shingles. They tried to clean the wall with material which left the vinyl siding stained. (They offered to correct this but we declined, having lost any faith in their workmanship).

We made an Angie’s List review in April of 2015, after which B[redacted] implied he would file a lawsuit against us. We attempted to have Angie’s List resolve the situation.

Other complaints were made by us throughout the year-long interaction with Brink and Angie’s List. B[redacted] only communicated by emails with us; these emails and our Angie’s List complaint provide greater details of the shoddy workmanship on this roof replacement.

In May 2015, another contractor informed us that the house roof vent was insufficient and the new roof had been installed over molded attic/roof decking.

In June, another contractor came to inspect and offer an estimate to remediate the mold, and he found multiple places where the “original” roof decking was rotting, cracking, sagging. He suggested that the Brink roofers should have inspected the roof decking from the attic prior to the roof work beginning. Had they inspected it, they would have found the mold. After that contractor found these defects, we re-visited the Brink website where we learned that they typically do a 17-point inspection including: “Measure for, and calculate for proper attic ventilation. … Inspect attic intake vents for blockage. … Interior attic inspection for moisture, or dry rot. … Inspect attic insulation for proper R-Value.” This 17 point inspection was never offered or provided to us.

Angie’s list complaint resolution was entered and Brink offered for us to make a warranty appointment with them. We did, and two staff came to inspect and photograph the roof, the attic, the decking on 10/5/15. The staff said we would be hearing from the owner in the next few days. Angie’s List staff continued to mediate the complaint resolution process throughout this time. On 10/7/15, Kyle B[redacted] emailed that he would be reviewing his staff’s photographs and getting back to us about the warranty work request. We did not hear from him again until 11/3/15, when he again said he would have information complete that night. We never heard from him again.

Many additional details are available in our Angie’s List review and the numerous emails exchanged with Brink and Angie’s List staff.

We want a refund of $6,000 - - which is less than ½ of the amount we paid for this roof job so that we can hire another contractor to remediate the shoddy work done by Brink. Brink has not offered any actual warranty work on the house roof, even after his crew inspected their work in October.Desired Settlement: Refund of $6000 of cost of roof so that another contractor can correct the negligent installation of roof over deteriorating roof decking.

My wife and I bought our first house about 5 years ago. When buying the house we were told that the roof was "new". After living there for about a year we noticed that the "new" roof around the chimney was leaking. A short time later the roof also began to leak in a couple other spots.

Since we had a warranty on the house we had a claim adjuster come out and give his suggestions as to what they would like to have fixed. We decided to contact several roofing companies including Brink Roofing to get a quote on the work the adjuster wanted done.

Right from the start I was very impressed with Brink. The owner himself, Kyle B[redacted], came out to put together a quote for us. He was extremely personable and even took the time to go over all the info and pictures that the claim adjuster sent us. After listening to all our concerns he began his inspection which he did for about 3 hours. This made me very happy as every other company we had had out before him took mere minutes to do their inspection.

A few days later Kyle contact me with his inspection findings and his quote. He had found MANY problems with our roof, several that the claims adjuster didn't even catch, and recommend a full roof replacement. Kyle even offered to work with my claims adjuster directly so that I didn't have to be the middle man. After working with them very closely, Kyle was able to convince the insurance company to completely cover ALL the costs so that our roof could be replaced.

Kyle continued to work with us on scheduling and even helping us pick out the singles we wanted. Then his crew began work. The crew, led by Rick, was just as personable, knowledgeable and diligent as Kyle was. They arrived on time every day and did all they could to make sure our property would remain clean and undamaged. They listened closely to my requests and even removed an old satellite dish for me. They would ask my opinion on things throughout the project to make sure I was getting exactly what I wanted.

The overall work took approximately 3 days and when all was said and done everything looked amazing! Our yard and gardens were in as good of condition as they were when the project started. It's been about 2 years since Kyle and his crew replaced our roof, fixed our chimney and secured our soffit and I'm happy to say that everything still looks as good as the day it was finished. We sleep soundly on stormy nights knowing that our new roof will keep us safe and dry.

Thank you Kyle, Rick and everyone at Brink Roofing. You're truly a class act.

Brinks Roofing was out immediately to repair my roof after our recent storm. Kyle (the owner), was courteous and answered all my questions. High quality work at a great price. Thank Kyle and team for your hard work under the storm conditions!

Hello. I am the owner of Brink Roofing.

+1

Review: I want my what I paid for, my roof done properly. On 5/2012 roof was to get replaced by Brink's roofing for an agreed price. 7/2013 was brought to my attention of problems on garage roof when siding was getting replaced. Was told by Brinks upon their inspection was that roof was not done properly. Even saying roof was done deliberately wrong. Have asked for this to get fixed, was told they would. Soon after was told they are too busy to get this done this year. I was asked for an estimate from my contractor, was given. Then asked for this in writing from contractor, was given. Now Brinks asking for a statement about warranty from my contractor. Also, they don't want to pay $1200-the estimate to fix roof, says they can do cheaper--now.Desired Settlement: I want what I paid for, what was agreed upon in 5/2012, I paid to have my roof replaced & I didn't receive this. I want this done this year. 2013
