Hello,The former customer had the opportunity to have a month to month commitment. They did not execute this clause in the contract. This is a legally binding agreement and we will proceed by the terms of the contract. We have already discounted the customer over 10%. Additional considerations will not be offered. It is unfortunate the customer believes we have poor customer service, but we have meet every obligation and beyond as to the terms of our agreement and will continue to do soWe ask the former customer to do the same. Per our privacy policy we will not be able to provide a copy of the contract but the customer is free to do so.Other then to provide a digitally signed copy of the contract, if released by the former customer to do so, we will no longer be providing any additional communication on this matter. Our contract is available on our website for reference. The link is available at the bottom of any page. http://www.broadband-mn.com/

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 6, 2015/08/10) */
Hello,
We at Broadband Corp are dedicated to our customer service and satisfaction. We specialize in extending fiber optic Internet infrastructure to rural central Minnesota.
I apologize that we were unable to come to an accord on this...

matter.
As stated in your complaint we offered to reduce your installation charge by the amount of the additional equipment that was required for your very challenging installation. With this there is a savings of over $150. This saving reduces your total obligation by nearly half. We also offered to provide you with a promotional discount for using auto payment of $50 to further reduce your cost. This promotion requires payment on the bill cycle date vs the bill due date. You had originally agreed to this and that would have made your total balance due $149.95. This would have been less than half of your total obligation. You have since opted out of the auto pay promotion after we extended the offer a second time. After this reduction the total balance due is now $199.95.
Per the contract we will not be charging you any additional costs as you availed yourself of the Trial Period portion of the contract that we offer to all new customers.
As to the state protected land accusation. The first notification of this was after installation. We unfortunately have been unable to independently verify this statement as the customers address does not appear listed on any state or federal databases for "State Protected Land" that we could verify.
At this point we are only requiring the remaining amount due to assist us in covering the cost incurred in providing Internet service to the customer to this point.
As always we wish this customer the best of luck and have no ill will towards them. We only ask that the customer pay the obligations they have under the contract that they agreed to.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (2000, 8, 2015/08/16) */
(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
While this issue is formally resolved, I will never do business with Broadband MN again and I will warn others away from them. The "sales/help desk/PR rep/VP" [redacted] is a deceptive and mean person. I still believe I'm only entitled to pay the amount I stated before but I understand that is not how this is going to be resolved. I hope no one is subject to his poor consumer service ever again. Broadband MN makes me sick.

I am rejecting this response because:I do not appreciate being accused of forgetting that I signed a contract.  When we scheduled to have this service installed it was made VERY clear we were doing month to month as that is what was told to us at their booth, it is not my fault their sales department screwed up.  I also never signed a contract, it was told today to Anthony that it was not my signature on the contract, I can provide plenty of signatures of mine if needed.  Anthony said the signature didn't matter, how can a contract be valid without a signature from the customer.  Also when asked to retrieve their equipment on day that someone would be at our residence as because we are uncomfortable having them come to our home without someone there.  Anthony proceeded to email my husband that normally they are accommodating but they wouldn't be for us and that we would have to allow to come when we aren't home or we could mail it in but if damaged we would be responsible for full replacement of equipment.  With that stated I know if I send it in it will somehow end up "damaged" and they would try and get more money out of us.I feel this terrible customer service proves my fact that because I am ending my month to month internet relationship with this company they are doing everything they can to get us to pay money they are not owed, even submitting a fake contract signed not by me.

Customer appears to have forgotten that they signed a two year contract digitally.  The customer was informed that an early termination fee would apply if they cancelled prior to charging the account.  They insisted they wanted to cancel service and so the termination policy applies. ...

We did wave the 30 day notice requirement to save the customer approximately $25, more then a 10% discount on the termination fee but it appears they did not feel this was sufficient.
