To: Revdex.com From: [redacted] Sub: Revdex.com Complaint Date: 5/11/In reply to a complaint filed by Andrea Witt on behalf of her son ***, the following response was sent to Revdex.com on Friday, May 13th, Thank you for the opportunity to respond to ID [redacted] and to address each point– The Enrollment Agreement was signed by the student and shows a total tuition cost of $10,900, not $12, The student’s mother requested a special down payment arrangement due to personal issues Both parties mutually agreed upon a six month special finance period, no penalty, to be followed by regular monthly installments with no interest applied The agreement was memorialized in an addendum signed by the parent – The student finished the course days ahead of schedule which is not uncommon for students who have the desire and have acquired the knowledge to do so The student’s grades and GPA, however, do not reflect that the student “already knew everything” about broadcasting and learned nothing– Prior to graduating, the student was placed in a job in the industry and continues his career at the same station Check out his Facebook page During this time, the student was offered an interview with another station that could have provided him with the type of job he had originally requested along with full time work, better salary, benefits and vacation The student declined the opportunity citing not wanting to leave the area, friends, finances, etc As is policy, when students request specific placement parameters that narrow the job search process, they are required to sign a waiver stating their reasons for doing so Career Services are still available but are constrained In this case, the student did sign the waiver but can always rescind same when the student feels they’re ready to pursue further opportunities– Prior to enrollment, the student signed the Catalog Confirmation form which states the student has read the Catalog As per our catalog, under “Career Services”, it states, “BC cannot and does not guarantee employment or wages at any time” In addition, the student also signed the “Career Services Understanding” form which again states the same information – We believe that had the student contacted us by phone to schedule a face to face appointment, all of this could have been prevented Instead, we received a text message stating that April and May past due payments as well as the next two months payments (June and July) would not be made until possibly August This is not what we consider a mutual agreement The day prior to this Revdex.com complaint, Tuesday, May 10th, phone contact was finally made with the student It was suggested to the student that they review their finances and present us with what they considered a reasonable repayment plan for them by Thursday, May 12th On Wednesday, May 11th, the student’s mother filed her complaint with the Revdex.com instead– Wrapping up a students production work, demo materials and archiving of such usually takes a few weeks after the students end date which in this case would have been March 10th This period allows other instructors to verify that all demo material is truly its best If not, students are offered the chance to redo a particular item if they wish Afterwards, certificates are issued As we are now in May and the student is delinquent in payments and has informed us that he would probably not be making a payment until possibly August, we are holding the certificate until a mutually agreed upon and viable loan modification repayment plan is in place
To: Revdex.com From: [redacted] Sub: Revdex.com Complaint Date: 5/11/16 In reply to a complaint filed by Andrea Witt on behalf of her son [redacted], the following response was sent to Revdex.com on...
Friday, May 13th, 2016. Thank you for the opportunity to respond to ID [redacted] and to address each point. 1 – The Enrollment Agreement was signed by the student and shows a total tuition cost of $10,900, not $12,000. The student’s mother requested a special down payment arrangement due to personal issues. Both parties mutually agreed upon a six month special finance period, no penalty, to be followed by 35 regular monthly installments with no interest applied. The agreement was memorialized in an addendum signed by the parent. 2 – The student finished the course 8 days ahead of schedule which is not uncommon for students who have the desire and have acquired the knowledge to do so. The student’s grades and GPA, however, do not reflect that the student “already knew everything” about broadcasting and learned nothing. 3 – Prior to graduating, the student was placed in a job in the industry and continues his career at the same station. Check out his Facebook page. During this time, the student was offered an interview with another station that could have provided him with the type of job he had originally requested along with full time work, better salary, benefits and vacation. The student declined the opportunity citing not wanting to leave the area, friends, finances, etc. As is policy, when students request specific placement parameters that narrow the job search process, they are required to sign a waiver stating their reasons for doing so. Career Services are still available but are constrained. In this case, the student did sign the waiver but can always rescind same when the student feels they’re ready to pursue further opportunities. 4 – Prior to enrollment, the student signed the Catalog Confirmation form which states the student has read the Catalog. As per our catalog, under “Career Services”, it states, “BC cannot and does not guarantee employment or wages at any time”. In addition, the student also signed the “Career Services Understanding” form which again states the same information. 5 – We believe that had the student contacted us by phone to schedule a face to face appointment, all of this could have been prevented. Instead, we received a text message stating that April and May past due payments as well as the next two months payments (June and July) would not be made until possibly August. This is not what we consider a mutual agreement. The day prior to this Revdex.com complaint, Tuesday, May 10th, phone contact was finally made with the student. It was suggested to the student that they review their finances and present us with what they considered a reasonable repayment plan for them by Thursday, May 12th. On Wednesday, May 11th, the student’s mother filed her complaint with the Revdex.com instead. 6 – Wrapping up a students production work, demo materials and archiving of such usually takes a few weeks after the students end date which in this case would have been March 10th. This period allows other instructors to verify that all demo material is truly its best. If not, students are offered the chance to redo a particular item if they wish. Afterwards, certificates are issued. As we are now in May and the student is delinquent in payments and has informed us that he would probably not be making a payment until possibly August, we are holding the certificate until a mutually agreed upon and viable loan modification repayment plan is in place.
