claim suggests that Globe University submitted a loan advance from Federal Loans after the student graduated.  I have had the opportunity to research the student’s claims and will provide an overview. The paragraphs that follow are organized according to the general points of concern raised by the student, and include our institution’s response to each specific point.  The student claims the school submitted a loan advance after the student graduated.  The former student was enrolled in the Associate of Applied Science – Veterinary Technology program at the La Crosse campus.  The former student requested Direct Unsubsidized loans in the fall quarter of 2016 in the amount of $5111.  On September 16, 2016, the US Department of Education transferred Globe University from the Advanced method of payment to a Heighted Cash Monitoring 2 (HCM2) method of payment.  The process of HCM2 affected Globe University disbursements of Pell Grant, Federal Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized loans, as well as Federal Direct Parent Plus loans paid to students during the time frame of August 1, 2016 to December 31, 2016.  Once the reimbursement request was submitted to the US Department of Education it was considered under review.  All affected disbursements were at that time reflecting the review status on the Central loan processing system - Common Origination and Disbursement (COD).    On October 7, 2016, the former student completed the Enrollment Disclosure form acknowledging the potential loss of Title IV student financial aid program eligibility.   On October 19, 2016, the Direct Unsubsidized loan amount of $5111 was applied to the student account towards tuition and fees, as demonstrated on the student ledger.  On September 26, 2017, the review process for Globe University was completed by the US Department of Education and all student disbursements were at that time updated to disburse with COD, as well as the National Student Loan Data System.  Although the disbursements were under review for an extended period of time Globe University paid the disbursements to students, including any stipend amounts during that time period.  During this time period Globe University awaited US Department of Education review completion of disbursements, as well as the disbursement of the funds on student loan accounts within the loan processing data bases. Our institution takes the concerns expressed by current and former students seriously, and we are disappointed that the complainant was not satisfied with her experience at our institution. However, as outlined above, we also feel that our institution processed the loan disbursement and notification to students appropriately. We do not feel that a refund is warranted. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Sincerely,   Angie [redacted] Academic Services

response to Case # [redacted], filed on September 9, 2016, regarding concerns reported by a former graduate. The graduate claims that the Minnesota School of Business had aggressive enrollment counselors, guaranteed better employment opportunities, and he was unaware of lack of accreditation.   The paragraphs that follow are organized according to the general points of concern raised by the graduate, and include our institution’s response to each specific point.  Enrollment Counselors The graduate indicates that he enrolled with Minnesota School of Business due to aggressive enrollment counselors. Minnesota School of Business is sorry to hear the graduate felt this way about his experience. Minnesota School of Business believes our current admissions practices are and always have been compliant with the law.  Admissions representatives are trained to act ethically in all matters and are required to sign a Code of Ethics to demonstrate they are always acting in the best interest of students.  Employment Opportunities The graduate claims that he was guaranteed better employment opportunities after obtaining a Master of Business Administration from the Minnesota School of Business.  According to our records the graduate graduated in 2009.  At the time of graduation, the student acknowledged that he was utilizing the training from his degree for his current position. The graduate also indicated at the time of enrollment, 2007, his goal was to be promoted within his current company.  In addition, the graduate received the 2007 catalog and on page 27 it indicates, The school offers employment assistance to its students and graduates however, the school does not guarantee employment.  The Minnesota School of Business recognizes that a graduate’s employment goals change; as such, the Minnesota School of Business provides ongoing career assistance.  The career service team at Minnesota School of Business sends graduates’ emails regarding job fairs, career service workshops, and reminders of ongoing assistance with searching for a job.  The Minnesota School of Business is happy to assist the graduate with looking for other employment opportunities, and the graduate can contact our Minnesota School of Business campus for assistance.   Accreditation The graduate indicates lack of accreditation by Minnesota School of Business.  Minnesota School of Business – Richfield was approved at that time, and is still accredited through the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools.  In addition, the Minnesota School of Business was registered with the Minnesota Office of Higher Education while the graduate was a student.  Our institution takes the concerns expressed by current and former students seriously, and we are disappointed that the complainant was not satisfied with his experience at our institution. However, as outlined above, our institution provides graduates ongoing career assistance and our school is willing to assist this graduate in looking for new employment opportunities.

June 6, 2016   Revdex.com   Re:  Broadview University – Orem              Case Number:  [redacted]   To Whom It May Concern:    I am writing this letter in response to Case # [redacted] which on May 23, 2016 required additional information.  The paragraphs that follow are organized according to the general points of concern raised by the student, and include our institution’s follow-up with the Veterinary Technology students.    Course Catalog As indicated in the first response, the course catalog outlines the program and prerequisites for a program as approved by our accreditation bodies.  Broadview University utilizes employees, subject-matter experts, program advisor committees and industry experts, to assess and provide feedback on curriculum including, but not limited to, course sequencing.  The course catalog does correctly indicate VT297 Externship as having a prerequisite or concurrent requirement of VT268 Dentistry.  The prerequisite for VT268 Dentistry is prerequisite or concurrent with VT252 and VT259.  The student’s interpretation of the course catalog as indicated that since a student can take VT297 with VT268 and VT268 can also be taken prerequisite or concurrently with   VT252 and VT259 within the second six weeks of a quarter that the student should be able to take all four courses within the same quarter.  The VT268 course can be taken with either VT252 and VT259 or VT297, but VT252 and VT259 cannot be taken the same time as VT297.  If this were the case, the course catalog would list the prerequisite for VT297 Externship as prerequisite or concurrent:  VT252 Anesthesiology, VT259 Surgery, and VT268 Dentistry.  Broadview University has course sequencing and prerequisites defined in order to ensure students have prerequisite knowledge to be successful in their courses, as well as to ensure, animal safety within the Veterinary Technology program.   Institution Follow-up Michael [redacted], Campus Director- Layton campus, met with the veterinary technology students on Thursday, May 26, 2016, regarding potential solutions to students concerned regarding completing the program at the Orem campus.  The institution is allowing the students to choose which solution works best for each individual student situation.  As it relates to this complaint, one solution is to allow students to take their final few courses concurrently with their externship.  Students who opt for this solution will understand failure or withdrawal from a course will result in the student being transferred and completing courses at the West Jordan campus.  Additionally, the externship site will clearly understand that since the student is completing their final courses, the student would not be completed all essentials skills prior to externship.  Finally, the program chair will verify each externship site and assure that hours can be completed at each site.    At this time the school is making every effort to ensure that during the teach-out of the veterinary technology program that the rigor and academic program is held to the highest standard while also accommodating the student request.
