Broadway Arms Apartments

I, [redacted], went to Broadway Arms Apartments in Reno, NV on April 13th, 2015 to meet [redacted], the Operating Manager of the Broadway Arms apartment homes in hopes to tour and rent a unit from her. [redacted] was not present to meet with me and had me shown around an unfinished apartment home, with nails sticking out of the floor board and construction materials laying about, by her maintenance man. The fridge was not present and the stove was being removed as I toured the apartment. The maintenance man explained that the holding deposit would be $300.00 cash and that the paperwork to fill out would be delivered to me at my place of work. I told the man that I could pay [redacted] the holding deposit that Friday, the 17th of April. The paperwork was delivered to my work, I filled it out, and returned the paperwork and $300.00 cash to the Broadway Arms Apartments. Directly on the paperwork that I filled out, it states that the holding deposit is fully refundable. [redacted] was not present, once again, and the maintenance man told me to hold onto my paperwork until I was able to get it to [redacted]. I agreed. The man had a receipt already written up, and I did not think to look at it closely before leaving, because the paperwork I read and signed had stated that the deposit was refundable. Later, finding an apartment to better fit my living needs, I called [redacted] and respectfully declined the offer to live at Broadway Arms and requested my holding deposit be refunded. [redacted] then yelled at me that the deposit was nonrefundable and hung up on me. I called back a few times, leaving a professional voicemail once, and getting yelled at the other times that she answered. After a few calls I decided it was not worth my time to try and argue with her.
