Review: On Feb *, my sister and I went into the shop to buy a photo card and double A batteries. They charged us $90 dollars for the photo card which I later found out was only supposed to be about $12. I had returned to the store because the card did not work. They quickly gave me a new one, and discarded the bill.I had thought maybe the charge was correct as I did not know anything about cameras. It wasn't untilI had complained to my colleagues about the price when I was told that these cards only cost about twelve dollars.I checked the prices on the web,and sure enough, they had overcharged me. I thought maybe it was only a mis-key, but I also searched complaints on the web, and there were several customers complaining about the same practice. When I had returned,it looked like they were trying to get us out of the store before we noticed. I have tried phoning, but they never answer their phone.Desired Settlement: I have also notified my credit card company, but haven't heard back yet. I want to get this filed before any more time passes.

Review: I am a wedding photographer and I purchased a 64 GB Transcend Flash Card in a rush. The bride was in a limousine waiting. Normally this product price is anywhere around $99.00. When I noticed that the price was only $39.00 I bought it. That evening the product didn't work which was upsetting because it failed during the most important part of the ceremony. I was disappointed. The next morning I noticed my credit card purchase and receipt and I was SHOCKED to learn that the card wasn't $39.99 but the cost was $399.99. Now I am stuck with a card that doesn't work that cost four times more than anywhere in America. Check any website I was robbed!Desired Settlement: Return the card and get credited on what I paid.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

His accusations are inaccurate. The card is defective and he will not even work with me. When I tried to go into his store to rectify the situation he asked me to get the [redacted]. I had my tdbank merchant call to settle this and she was hung up as well.

However this honest person, ME is getting punished by not being compensated because they lied to the bank as well. Now I am stuck with a 450.00 piece of damaged equipment and no one can help because of their policy saying no refunds. I just want what's right!

Review: I was in New York during the weekend of Sept ** and went into Broadway Camera and Electronics. I offer you a stern warning to avoid these conniving, [redacted]. I went in to purchase a memory card for my camera. First of all, they grossly overcharged me for what I wanted but to add insult to injury, when I arrived back to my event which was NY Fashion Week to load the memory card into the camera, I found that the packaging had been tampered with. The package perforation which is normally not so easy to get into, just easily peeled open. The memory card was a Transcend 600x 32gb a card which should have come with a recovery download file which had been removed.

The average cost for this disc online and in other stores was about $22. These thieves said it was $199 but was selling it to me for $119. After taxes and all my card was charged $140

The second incident was them showing me a digital zoom lens by Digital Advance which supposedly increases peripheral field of view by 48% and claimed it originally cost over $699 but because of 30-70% discount this lens would cost only $329, $362 with taxes. He showed me one which he attached to a Nikon D3200 and it appeared to do as he said it would. I informed him that I had a Nikon D600 which is a higher end camera and the salesperson told a co-worker to pull a similar down for my type camera and he proceeded to explain how this would enhance the field of view for my D600 but then he be speaking in his native language. And the co-worker switched the lens for yet another box which looked similar. The salesperson took the lens out and showed it to me. Made in Japan and professionally boxed, looked legitimate. Long story short, once I purchased the item thinking I may have gotten something I'd been looking for but wasn't shopping for at that moment, I arrived home to find that I had purchased a useless paper weight. This, item is not worth $5 much less the $362 I was swindled out of. People please don't be fooled by these con artist. I felt like such a fool.Desired Settlement: I would gladly ship these items back if requested although they probably aren't worth the postage I'd have to spend for it, but compared to what I've been swindled out I'd do it anyway. The lens is completely useless and the memory card is possibly used but was definitely tampered with prior to be sold with some valuable nformation being taken from the package. I feel a full refund is definitely in order.

Review: My brother and I were in a hurry and looking for a Bower digital rapid battery charger XC-C5L. The salesman found one gave it to us. When we asked how much it was, he said it was a million dollars. Laughing in jest and trust at New York humor, we proceeded to ask about another item on our list: an iWalk on the go pre-charged smartphone powerback 2,600 mAh with built-in lighting cable. This time when I asked about the price, he said it was $99.00.mI proceeded to pay - and when I saw the bill while I was still inside the store, it was a whopping $250.00 for these two items. Realizing something was wrong, I walked back to the cashier and looked for the owner to get a refund. There was a sign that said no refunds-only exchanges. When I checked the actual price of these items-the battery charger was only $8.00 on [redacted] (not being sold anymore online) and the iWalk powerback was only 17.93 on [redacted]. I looked for a NYPD officer to accompany us - he talked to the business owner who lied and said we took the price tag off and thus kept us from seeing' the actual tag - then he changed his story and said, by law that they have to remove the tag on the item and yet the tag on the iWalk charge still had it on.Desired Settlement: I want to get my money's worth of the items. This business is overcharging and preying on unwitting customers. It's unfair and unjust!

Review: My name is [redacted], a [redacted], passport number: [redacted]. My friend and I travelled to New York as part of the South African delegation to participate in official meetings arranged on the sidelines of the [redacted].On ** September 2013, we went for sightseeing around Time Square and visited the Broadway Cameras Electronics situated at [redacted]. Their contacts: ###-###-#### and Fax ###-###-####.We had an interest in few items such as the cameras, camera lenses, tablet, projector and others. Out of persuasive sales skills we bought a few items and when got to the hotel we realized that all items were sold to us four higher than the market prize. For an example: aJST Digital Camcorder DVC-712 was sold to me at USD 163 and the market related prize from the internet is approximately USD 36Canon Powershot G1X plus Bower pro dHD 52mm lens was sold to my friend at USD 2664 and a quick desktop research puts a prize at USD 470The list goes on. We tried calling the shop for a refund but they refused and we further called them on ** September 2013 to speak to the manager but in vain. What they agree to in principle is an exchange. We are not in favour of this as we a convinced that the sale was not in good faith and we are instead in favour of a refund hence we request your urgent intervention on this matter as we are scheduled to fly back to South Africa on ** September 2013.We will be glad to submit all the relevant documentation including our passport details should you require them.Regards[redacted] +[redacted]Desired Settlement: REFUND

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Your Answer Here]

It is true that we went back to try and resolve the issue. However, the business continued to be arrogant and abusive. They referred to us as primitive [redacted] and my friend as a [redacted] racists. They further told us to go [redacted] cause that is New York and Times Square they have no time to entertain nonsense. In brief, we were disrespected and humiliated to say the least by the business. Some of the words they said to us are to heavy for any printing or profffessional correspondence. We therefore resolved to walk away and never enter that shop in the future again. Basically, they are lying through their teeth and that is all.

Review: I have two complaints regarding Broadway Camera for misrepresention of product and warranties, as follows:

Broadway Camera ripped me off this week and refuse to refund my money nor work with me to come to a resolution. While on vacation, I stopped in the shop to inquire about buying a replacement Nikon rechargeable battery. I asked how much and was told $79.00., which is not too far above the actual market value of a Nikon EN-EL 14, so I agreed to continue our discussions. Typically one can purchase a brand new replacement NIKON battery from $50 - $70 depending on retailer. Being in Times Square, I expected to pay a little higher than market value but never expected to pay $50 higher and expected to receive a product that was new in package and worked. While the salesman was installing the battery. he pulls out a shows me a New in Package NIKON battery which matched my NIKON 5200 equipment. Once he opened the package up the new NIKON battery he installed did not work, so he yells out to another salesperson "get me a charged battery for Nikon 5200" which the other salesman pulled out of his drawer unpackaged which was installed in my camera and he showed me the full charge indicator on my camera. I never saw the battery he installed until later when I returned to the hotel only to discover that he had switched out the battery from NIKON name brand to a Engergizer battery that did not hold its charge. From the time I left the store, I had not taken any photos as my camera was inoperable so there was no reason for the battery not to work. Aside from the fact that a bait and switch occurred, the battery given to me was used and not a NIKON brand that I had requested and was quoted. He quoted me for a NIKON battery but installed a cheaper, lower quality brand and I overpaid by $40 - $50. I am seeking a full refund for the battery.

Once he completed the battery bait and switch, another sales man signals him and he grabs my personal camera and says "you need this lens to take pics of NYC." Without asking permission, he takes my camera and installs a lens that he represents to be a brand new NIKON lens product that they just got into stock with a market value was $899. He briefly shows me the box so I could see the price and tells me that I could purchase the lens for half price and offers to sell it to me for $499. The entire time he represents it as a NIKON telephoto wide angle lens that could take far way photos and bring the objects very close. He never deviates from the discussion that product was an off- brand. He never tests the compatibility to ensure it would work with my equipment. He tells me to look into my lens with his attachment (which turns out to NOT be a lens) at all and does some demonstration to try to prove to me that he was selling me something special. I tell him no I dont have a budget to buy any lens as only needed the battery so he lets up on his high pressure misleading sales presentation. Once he took me to the counter to pay for the battery a third person (man calling the shots) behind the cash register says if you like this lens, I will give you the battery and you can pay me $381 dollars. He rang up the transaction and gave me a credit card slip only which was higher than what we agreed. I questioned the charge and he claimed it was tax. They did not give me any boxes, packaging, or itemized receipt so still was under the impression that I had Nikon equipment.

Later that evening, I had dinner with my NY friends who happen to be professional photographers and told him that I had bought what I was told to be a new great wide angle lens with a macro feature. Turns out to my shock, I did not have a lens at all and had been deceived and ripped off. The photographer brought out a camera catelog to show me the true market value of the battery and also told me that I did not have NIKON equipment nor did the store sell me a lens. What they represented as a lens (which could cost $300 or more) was a macro attachment and NOT a actual lens. The camera store has attached a macro attachment that costs less than $50 (for Nikon) and for off brands only $29.99. Had I been given a receipt, I would have known that I was not sold NIKON products nor was I sold an actual camera wide angle lens. I was charged over $300 more than what this attachment actually costs. Once I left the store I tried to take some shots and the camera would not work as turns out it NIKON equipment and was not compatible and would not focus or operate. The attachment turns out to be for small items (very close up shots) so they decieved me as to the function of the lens.

I immediately called back the merchant on 12/* and voiced my concerns; however, the merchant was argumentative and hung up on me. My photographer friend tried to discuss this with them and in a second call and he got hung up on as well. I called back the next day on 12/* to discuss this with the merchant who told me that I was NOT getting a refund and got defensive when I made my claims about the bait and switch and fact that he did not sell me an actual lens. I told him that I wanted my money back as disc.overed that he decieved me by telling me he had sold NIKON and a lens. Overall this is the worst experience I have ever had with a merchant. I tried to bring back the products on 12/* and was TOLD since I had called my credit card company that he was not going to work with me at all and hung up on me a third time. He said good luck on proving your case with the credit card company without a receipt or proof. He was aluding to the fact that they had failed to give me a receipt or packaging.

The credit card company processed the transaction and paid them the $381.Desired Settlement: Refund all money

Review: I was visiting from out of town but needed to buy a Canon camera on short notice for my son's birthday. I stopped into Broadway Camera on [redacted]. I knew I wouldn't be getting a great price, but was leaving on vacation the next day so had few options. I had done some previous research on the base model camera and found it to be reasonably priced in their store. The salesman also suggested and very aggressively sold me on a Digital Advance Professional Lens to accompany the camera. He showed me a box with the lens priced at $1,399 and informed me that I could purchase it with the camera for $499. I also purchased a digital memory card. The total purchase of the camera, lens and memory card came out to $1,012. The merchant's return policy was printed on the receipt (No Refunds, Exchanges only within 7 days), though they did not advise me verbally of it in the store.

While I had done previous research on the camera before coming to the store, I had not done the same thing with the Digital Advance lens. I was dismayed to find out after I left the store to find the same item on [redacted] priced at $150, along with several reviews here on [redacted] and other sites noting how certain merchants had marked up the item outrageously. I cannot help but feel that Broadway Camera did the same and that I was taken advantage of. Since I went out of town with the family immediately after the purchase, I could not return the lens.

I contacted Broadway Camera two days later via phone and expressed my disgust with their "buyer beware" sales tactics. They advised me to fax a complaint letter to them, which I did that same day and in it advised them that I would dispute the purchase of the Digital Advance lens with my Visa card issuer. Since the $499 add-on lens was not itemized on my sales receipt, I asked Broadway Camera to refund me an amount of $350 (the difference between the purchase price of $499 and the reasonable retail value of $150) to my Visa card. The store did not respond to me or my fax request but instead sent my Visa card issuer copies of their sales drafts and invoice, whereupon the Visa issuer put the charge back on my account and would not refund me either.Desired Settlement: Refund me an amount of $350 (the difference between the purchase price of $499 and the reasonable retail value of $150) to my Visa card.

At this time, I have not been contacted by Broadway Cameras & Electronics regarding complaint ID [redacted]. I have attached two letters - one which I sent directly to Broadway Camera, and the other to my credit card issuer [redacted]

Sadly, given my interactions with this business and its [redacted], I am not surprised at their complete lack of response. I hope you have some level of authority to impose a sanction or penalty against this unethical business. They do repeated disservice to people like me who were foolish enough to become their customers, and their very visible presence in [redacted] does a real disservice to New York City. Please punish these guys or revoke their business license. I will travel to NYC to do a happy dance in front of their shuttered storefront if that happens.

Sincerely,

Review: Dear Revdex.com Team,During my staying as a tourist in New York, I went for a camera shop in Time Square (Name of the shop: Broadway Camera Versaille Gall[redacted])to buy a wide-angle lens for my camera. The shopman recommended me to buy the wide-angle lens from the Company called Digital Professional Lens Pro HD Series. To demonstrate me how good and expensive these lenses are, the shopman showed me on his phone the Website: [redacted], where you can see Prices of the lenses (the Prices are around 1000$).I bought the recommended wide-angle lens, but to my disappointment after checking the Quality of the Pictures on my Computer, which were really bad, I was sure that this wide-angle lens can't be a a high Quality lens. I looked for further Information about this brand, and I found out that on [redacted] the lens is much cheaper than the shopman sold me (please see: [redacted]). Beside the Brand Website:[redacted], Is my opinion only a scam as there are no further Information (only pictures and prices) and it is only to trick People. Furthermore, I found out that many People where scammed in the same way as I was, please see: [redacted] and see: : [redacted].Next day, I went to shop and told him that I am not satisfied with the product and why he sold a fake product for an expensive Price. The shopman got very angry (even though I was very calm and polite) and I should leave the shop immediately and took the lens. So I stood outside without the lens and knowing that he will get my Money Transfer through my mastercard.Desired Settlement: I went as a Tourist to New York and I felt in love with this City. I just don't want this to happen to other People, especially to tourists.I was hoping to get my money back and I contacted my Master Card agency, but they told they can't do anything. In New York, I spoke with a Police officer and he recommended me to contact Revdex.com. Perhaps, you have any recommendations how I can get my Money back (to recall the shopman took the lens too)

Review: I got ripped off In this store!! I went in the store with a friend to buy a Sony Nex 7 which according to salesman was $590 for the package. However, as he showed me the camera he started explaining that if I didn't want to carry all different type of lenses and flash that the Sony DSC- H300 was as good but all integrated, easier to carry and at the end would be less expensive as I didn't have to buy flash or HD lens, etc. I bought the Sony DSC-H 300 for $899. plus tax. The sales person said I made a great choice as that was the best model etc. As soon as I got to the hotel I researched it and I was sold a $200. camera for $900. I immediately called the store and explain what happen to me and that I was ripped off and the person on the phone told me to come in. I went back that afternoon to get a refund but they do not accept that only exchanges. The cashier told me that he had been told that if I came I could exchange for whatever I wanted. However, a sales person got involved and said NO, he was very rude and told me I should have done research before buying the camera as it was my fault that I got ripped off. I tried to exchange for the Sony Nex 7 which was offered to me in the morning for $590. as it had 30% discount and was told that the discount was only during the morning. Different sales persons were giving me different prices for same products. The staff change all the time so when you argue that in the morning they quoted a different price, they shrug you off and say impossible and to go back the next day and speak to the person in the morning who sold me the merchandise. I asked to speak to [redacted] and they pointed him out to me. I approached him and he said he was not the [redacted] and left the store. A sales person got upset because [redacted] said he was not the [redacted] and he felt he left sales people hanging. He even said that the [redacted] does that all the time. I was offered a $500. credit in addition to staying with the camera in any merchandise of the store but they could not give me the Sony Nex 7. There was nothing else in the store that interest me. They suggested I returned next morning to speak to the sales person I originally dealt with. Another sales person, as he saw me crying, suggested I report them to consumers affairs and have their license taken. I returned next morning, 7/**, and the sales person who sold me the camera was no where to be found. I wanted to exchange for the Sony Nex 7 so that at least I could get my money's worth. However, there was NO Sony Nex 7 in the store. I was told by another sales persons not to trust these electronics shops in Times Square that they are there just for tourist. He suggested I contacted the bank and put a dispute and let them settle it. He also said that they were not going to sell me the Sony Nex 7 for less that $1,500 and it was not worth it as I could get it for $1,000. It was a very overwhelming experience as all sales persons were giving me different information and I did not know who or what to believe or what to do. Nobody took charge causing major chaos.Desired Settlement: Get a refund to my credit card.

Review: My wife and I were visiting New York staying at the Muse Hotel nearby Broadway Camera. Our camera did not work so we visited the store and checked the battery etc. We were advised that he battery was "dead" and the camera no longer functioned. We were shown a few Sony camera's - the first for sale for $99 and another for $199. We decided to go with the better camera for $199. While walking to the check out counter the sales rep scratched the price off the camera box - which at the time I thought was unusal but didn't do anything. He sold me the Sony W710 for sale at $99 for $199. Then he said we needed a memory card so another sales rep appeared with a 4GB card which he sold me for $76.20 including taxes - during the sale I said that the price seemed to be very high and he said that it was normal. Since I have a vision problem and did not want to argue I reluctantly paid excessive price for the memory card.Desired Settlement: Apology, change in deceptive sales practices and refund of differences: in the price of the camera I paid for and the one I got and for the price of a 4GB memory card and the price I paid.
