Broadway Moving & Storage Reviews (2)

Review: This moving company lost 3 boxes of my household items in their NJ storage facility and refuses to pay me the full value coverage in my signed contract. They sent me a settlement refund check which is far below value of my belongings and they have continued to delay or not respond to my request for a full refund settlement amount. The initial move from NJ took place in JUNE, 2014. They held my items in storage until OCT/2014. Upon delivery in my new residence, I told the movers they were missing 3 large boxes - containing drapes, and heirloom dishes which cannot be replaced. Also, they had broken a frosted glass torchiere floor lamp, lost keys to an armoire and shelf brackets. I don't know if they stole or sold my items. They sent an agent out to my home to review the claim. This company told me that they would resolve the refund dispute issues months ago, but continue to give me the run around. They no longer will speak to me. I told them I would file a complaint with the Revdex.com but they refuse to give me the full value refund/settlement of my claim. They have unethical business practices and no customer service. This is extremely frustrating. I have emailed and called them numerous times and no resolution.Desired Settlement: I wish to receive the full value coverage refund for my lost and broken items. I believe they have ripped me off.

Broadway Moving & Storage, Inc. is affiliated with Atlas Van Lines. They refuse to settle this refund dispute properly.

My claim is for $1765.00

Amount they issued me as refund is $500.00 on MAY/15/2015

Review: Broadway Moving and Storage moved our furniture from storage to our new home on August 23, 2013. During move one glass shelf was broken by employees of Broadway Moving and Storage. We had paid for the additional insurance through Broadway and had them pack the glass so that any damage would be covered by insurance. The glass was thick and curved in shape so we knew that it would be difficult and costly to replace in case of accident which is why we paid for the additional insurance. Broadway took an unbroken shelf in order to attempt to have a new shelf made to replace the broken one. Despite many phone calls and emails, we have yet to have a replacement shelf over 4 months later.Desired Settlement: We would like Broadway to have a matching glass shelf made, as they promised, by January 15th. If an exact match cannot be made, they need to have 3 shelves made so that all shelves for the bar match.

Alternatively, we would like the unbroken shelf returned and the cost of the bar reimbursed. An equal value replacement bar would cost $1800.

Business

Response:

Yes, we are a family run business that has been in business for 80 years. We employ specially trained and skilled movers for all household and business moves. We do not use day laborers.

Our actual costs for the [redacted] move were within the industry standard of 5-10% of the estimate provided to the [redacted]. The day of the move was hot with high humidity. We take every precaution to the wrap and protect furniture from damage at all times and minimize any issues. Unfortunately there are times that damages do occur during a move.

We have followed all protocol to resolve the [redacted] claims. We sent a furniture repair person to their home to ascertain the damage. Based upon his review he felt it could not be repaired. We then asked the [redacted] to complete a claim form which we in turn submitted to our insurance company for processing. They did contact the [redacted] to schedule a time to review the damaged furniture to settle their claim.

Unfortunately there was a piece of glass that was damaged that was not easily replaceable. We attempted to have it replicated at three (3) local companies but they were not able to accomplish that. We then attempted to contact the manufacturer of the bar unit but they were no longer in business. We finally found a company that would replicate it but it would take 3-4 weeks to complete as it was a special cut. We have informed the [redacted] of progress during the entire time.

Claims are sometimes not an easy process to resolve. We have worked diligently and followed protocol throughout this time to settle their claim and keep them informed of the process and will continue to do so.
