March 17, 2015[redacted] hired our company to pour a rather large concrete job in their backyard. At the time of theestimate and walk through we were told all we have to do is form and pour concrete where the contractor prior to ushad...

already dug out and prepared the property for us. We had nothing to do with excavation or preparation.addressed that the grades were off when I looked at the job and was told I may have to move a little stone around. When we started the job [redacted] had one very important request and that was that the concrete is to bepitched away from the garage door so no water got inside the doorway. I stressed that the door was at a low elevationand the only way would be to keep the concrete as high as we could since lowering the concrete would have created awater problem. [redacted] then spoke of the contractor who build the garage had built it way low and he was veryunhappy and then proceeded to complain about the excavator not doing a good job. We agreed to take some of thestone out that another contractor installed to make this sidewalk work. We only scraped 3" of stone out of our way andwe hit a propane line. I told [redacted] about the accident and he said the excavator had to of hit the line and pulled it tothe surface. [redacted] said it was not our fault although we did repair it at no cost. By code that line should have beenmuch deeper to begin with. With that situation resolved [redacted] seen all of our work prior to us pouring concrete andhe was aware of what we had to do. [redacted] states in his complaint that the sidewalk moved when the ground frozebecause there was no expansion board. For the record expansion board is placed so concrete can move freely when theground freezes without breaking. When [redacted] contacted me about this matter he was very demanding that weneed to do something about his garage door. I asked him what is wrong and he began to tell me about his door notopening and then 1 cup in the concrete out of this large project. I said ok so we will resurface the cupped area althoughwhat do you want to do about the concrete at the door. He said I just want it fixed. I told him the concrete didn't swellup, the ground under the concrete is pushing it up. I told him I didn't know what is under the concrete because youhired another conctractor to prepare the ground. I proceeded to ask what do you want to do about this area. As aproffessional I know that something as to be done with the ground under the concrete since it was all fresh fill from thenew contruction. [redacted] told me he payed me to do the job I needed to take care of it. I asked how long has thedoor been like this. He told me about two weeks. I asked why did you wait this long to call me. At this point | couldn'tget another word in since [redacted] started screaming with profanity over and over aside from saying we don't knowwho he is and we don't know who we are messing with. [redacted] proceeded to say that he was coming for us and hewill bring the comany down. [redacted] hung up on us not allowing any resolution to the situtation. In our defense wegave [redacted] a proffessional job and at the end of the project like all projects we walk over the entire job andlet the customers do a final inspection. We don't leave the job sites until the customers are satisfied, at this point iswhen we collect the final check. [redacted] shook my hand after reviewing his project and paid in full. He expressed thatit was a good job and he was very happy we were able to finish prior to winter. I told him there would be some lawntouch up in the spring since winter was setting in and he said that is not a problem. I understand [redacted] being upsetabouth the door although again we did what we were told we can't conctrol the ground underneath especially duringthe worst winter recorded. Note there are never any gaurantees with concrete. We met all the requirements pertainingto the contract between our company and the [redacted].RespectfullyBrock Enterprises
