Brookfield Bay Marina Reviews (1)

Review: I had a meeting on February 20, 2013 with [redacted] while [redacted] was in the room to discuss the repair of my boat and the other charges. I brought two other people with me to help with questions. In the estimate for the engine repair, it said "Removed head and found cracked block" but then I was told they never saw the crack but assumed it has to be that. They also now told me there is no way to determine the cause unless they do other tests. I was told by [redacted] before I brought the boat to them, that they would be able to determine the cause once they diagnosed what was wrong with the engine. These were determining factors to decide who was going to service my boat. It was of the utmost importance that I would be able to find out if this damage was due to improper winterization, and the fact I was told by [redacted] that the worst case scenario the cost would be $4500 for the repair. The new estimate for the repair was: $5211.15, not the $4500 I was previously told. During the meeting I finally agreed to pay for the repair since I felt trapped and had no other recourse since they were charging me $590.24 just for the estimate, but that would go towards the repair. We started talking about payment options and [redacted] stated that they preferred payment by a credit card. I have two other witnesses that heard this, since that statement from him spurred further conversations about credit cards in general.I called Brookfield Bay Marina on May 20th because the invoice they sent to me was incorrect, they had added in the estimate cost of $590.24, and I asked if a credit card was ok to pay with and was told by [redacted] it was. I only asked because the newest emails said cash or certified check and that seemed odd since I had been previously told I would be able to use a credit card before I even signed the work order. I want to pick up my boat and pay, but can't now since they are refusing to take a credit card after I was told I could during the meeting.

Desired Settlement: I want to pick up my boat and pay, but can't now since they are refusing to take a credit card after I was told I could during the meeting I had before I signed the work order.

I spoke with [redacted] a week ago and we settled our differences amiably. After I received the complaint in the mail today, I called [redacted] and asked if she still had a complaint and she said this was sent to Revdex.com long before my discussion with her. She indicated she would rescind the complaint if you provided a method for her to do so.
